South Korea is delaying the reopening of schools due to an ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases. According to NPR, 102 new cases have been confirmed in the last week, and the new cases are being linked to a reopening of nightclubs in the capital of Seoul. On-site learning was scheduled to resume on Wednesday, but the recent cluster has brought new concern to parents and education officials about sending kids back to school. Nearly 200,000 people recently signed a petition calling for a delay in the return to classrooms, NPR reported. May 13, 6:38 a.m.
Here are the latest updated totals from around the globe, compiled by researchers from Johns Hopkins University: Total confirmed cases: 4,278,180 Total deaths: 292,316 Total recovered: 1,502,620 May 12, 7:31 p.m.
Americans could see another round of stimulus checks in their bank accounts. The direct payments would also be $1,200 per person, and up to $6,000 for a household, if House Democrats' latest coronavirus relief proposal passes. The stimulus package includes more than $3 trillion in new spending, which would be the biggest and most expensive aid package yet to deal with the pandemic. The more-than-1,800-page package also set aside $175 billion in rent, mortgage and utility assistance and an extension of the $600 per week federal unemployment insurance benefit through January. Party leaders in the house expect to vote on Friday. May 12, 6:35 p.m.
C&C Coffee and Korean Kitchen in Castle Rock, Colorado, has had its license suspended after opening on Sunday against the emergency orders in effect across the state. Gov. Jared Polis announced that his administration suspended the license on Tuesday and warned other restaurants that they too would face consequences if they took similar actions. C&C Coffee and Korean Kitchen was packed on Mother’s Day with many of the patrons not adhering to social distancing guidelines or wearing masks, The Colorado Sun reported. Under the current orders, restaurants are not allowed to have in-person dining, but they can continue to offer deliver or takeout. “We hope and we pray that nobody who went to C&C Coffee and Kitchen had coronavirus,” Gov. Jared Polis said on Tuesday. “And we hope that everybody is safe who went there.” Some people in the community showed up at the restaurant after it closed, taping money to the windows in support of the decision to open. The United Kingdom has reported more COVID-19-related deaths than any other country in Europe, and it just passed a major milestone. On Tuesday, the U.K.’s death toll exceeded 40,000, far more than any other country in the world with the exception of the U.S., according to Reuters. Italy is the next worst-hit country in Europe with nearly 31,000 deaths. Care homes continue to be an area of concern, accounting for a third of all COVID-19 deaths in the UK. “It is a relief to see the number of deaths in care homes falling, but they sadly they continue to make up a significant proportion of coronavirus related deaths and our work is not done,” minister for care Helen Whately said in a statement. May 12, 4:35 p.m.
The stay-at-home orders for Los Angeles County could be extended through the end of July. The news of the possible three-month extension broke during a Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, KTLA reported. “Our hope is that by using the data, we’d be able to slowly lift restrictions over the next three months,” county Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said during the meeting. One of the keys to fully reopening is an increase in testing or the ability for people to be able to test themselves at home. Los Angles County has had more than 32,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, resulting in 1,570 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. |

It's only a matter of time. My guess would be, that a very evil person, or group of persons, wants this virus to infect as many people as possible. |

Over here, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, still going down, but it's taking it's sweet time nonetheless.
We now have approx 250 new cases a day, some days below 200. UK has a few days with fewer new cases, but not really to write home about and still fingers crossed if it will continue. US also a slight improvement, but also not nearly enough to base any conclusions on really. I hope countries aren't going to ease lockdown too soon... Some business owners here aren't happy about the swift easing of lockdown. But they have to also open up shop now or else they'll lose customers to the competition, and then that may kill off their business. Really sad. |

Number in hospital 14% down from last week France is easing restrictions travel to try help there tourism industry. Germany is beginning to have a second wave but I wouldn't take any notice of them. After all, they promised not to invade Poland I think the stuff on Germany is a lot of fearmongering. There was a brief rise of the R ratio, how they calculate that bleep knows, but if you look at the numbers of new cases nothing much happened at all. Just the regular irregular decrease that seems to come with this. As for France... they're doing a lot better, but I ain't going anywhere near there, haha. They still have 600-700 new cases daily on average and occasionally over 1000. It would've been a lot easier had we been going into winter. Then people wouldn't object so much to lockdown & social-distancing. In that sense we're lucky it ain't glorious beach weather! |

They say if it had been winter the death toll would have been far higher. That's why they are worried about a second hit later in the year.
R = the amount of people one person can infect, so for example 1 means they infect 1 other. We are at around 0.7 so they want to keep the "R" number as low as possible. So Say the number was 2 One person will infect 2 people and in turn each of the 2 people will infect 2 more so that's 4 and so on increasing dramatically |

ABC news reported a family in China got the Corona virus from another family who was infected setting at least 16 feet way in the restaurant.
Yet people think 6 feet is appropriate Distancing. |

I don't think it's possible to get that far away from anyone in China

I'd take whatever the media reports with a pot of salt myself. And even if it was 16 ft... we could not have kept things going a little bit with having to keep almost 5 meters distance from one another. Chances of people sticking to that are slim. |

Will be interesting to see what happens here over the weekend as we have eased things a bit for work and one person visiting another.
I think it will go wrong because of the idiots who don't care. The media will be all over it like a rash blaming the government ffs When are people going to use common sense and take responsibility for their own actions |
|
|
|
Yeah, the masses still don't seem to get it. I guess we need more bad stuff to happen in order for them to wake up maybe?
Then again, you now do see people who are smarter and use their brain and who do take responsibility rise against these a-holes. We cannot force people to awaken but maybe the group who has learnt can help propel our societies forward. Who knows. Too soon to tell. |

The Media only promotes fear, and distrust throughout the entire population, let along the 24/7 Trump bashing stuff which is "not news", in the past the Media though Bias would at least report less Skewed news to fit a certain Agenda, now it's all they do... And/Or constantly promoting "Division" which does nothing for the "United" States Of America, "United You Stand, Divided You Fall"... I mean you can disagree on a lot of issues no matter what political leanings you have, "but" you should at least come together during Major Crisis for the sake of the "Entire Country" like this Coronavirus nor should you always be "Race Baiting" constantly all of the time they are always doing that...
1) White vs. Black 2) Gay vs. Straight 3) Rich Elites vs. Poor Working Class 4) Illegal Immigrates vs. Legal 5) Pro Life vs. Pro Abortion 6) Left vs. Right Etc. and Etc. if you Spend "All" of your time on "What you disagree on" how in the world you can Pass things that you Actually "Do Agree Upon" and the Media "Constantly Fuels This Divisions Between People, Groups, Individuals etc." anyone is blind to deny that fact, they are "not" helping anyone. In fact that is "Why" it is far better to focus on the positive than the negative energy over time that will totally stress anyone out on either side and you will always find stuff that you "disagree on" even within Political Parties Eventually your entire party will break up on both sides causing massive breakdown of society as a whole for various reasons as listed above because at that point it will be even Dem vs. Dem and Rep vs. Rep etc. we are already "at times" seeing signs of this also in both parties and/or any other groups cause Media Sources Only Fuels The "Flames Of Division Which Ultimately Leads To Hate"... Hence "Welcome To The Fall Of The Romans.. We are on that same pathway... |
|
|
|
P.S. I think the "Media" as a whole should Focus "a lot more" on actual news and "far less on Political Hack Jobs", that's to say "All Of Us Totally Disagree Politically (no 2 individuals are fully alike on all issues or ever will be it's just how it is) And "Always Will Be This Way" For Any Country (or groups of individuals, but even marriage couples have to learn to cooperate or they are at each others throats too - even we all know this fact lol as I said focus more on what you agree on and less on what you don't is a start to getting "back in the right direction"), In The Past "Also Always Have Been" On Many Things "Disagreed Fully", But you better think wisely because if you listen to these guys fueling the fires of division all of the time "you will totally hate each other eventually that's how hate starts in fact", that as I said is the Romans all over again leading up to a Civil War "Again" eventually that is "how" Civil Wars starts too, and/or outside Foreign Forces To "Invade Said Country" a Perfect Time To Do That, so think about it before being a "guinea pig" drawn in by the Media's "Divide Us Thing" To Destroy this Entire Nation, something "Even they do not wisely consider or they wouldn't be doing it in the first place"...
The Best Time To Attack "Any Country" Is When They Are Dividing And Fighting Each Other --> Rules Of Warfare "First Strike" Preemptive 101 Strike.. The Worst Time When They (A Nation Or Group Of Individuals) Are "The Most United".... That is true for "Families & Nations" etc. (Every-time always has been), and always will be just the "Cold Hard Truth"... so if you find yourself "disagreeing with even this simple post" (stop and think about why you are disagreeing and realize are you using common sense when disagreeing or just on the "bandwagon" to disagree) etc. I think we better all wise up cause the worst threats are within currently not just "The Virus", but such people that "Instigate Division" they are The "True Enemy" We All Know Them As "Instigators" and currently these Media People "are that very thing simply for the Headlines, National Enquirer Stories" they look for too much "Drama" and not even "Truth" cause often the real truth doesn't sale papers ;) or make "big profits" etc. |

So in the UK the government are trying to introduce a slow start back to school ftom next month for some.
So obviously the left wing unions and the left wing opposition are arguing with it. For the start back to work for those who can't work from home the government says to use their own transport, ie cars or bikes so as to reduce contact on public transport. So the left wing mayor of London reinstalled the congestion charge that has been stopped while the pandemic is here plus he has increased the fee Honestly, everything is to try bring down the government. The opposition has no clue how to anything. When will people wake up and see what they are doing at our expense. If you told them the sky is blue they would disagree |
