hi river .. that looks like a single use dust mask ... looks too flimsy to be a surgical mask. Do you know what the specification. Number is ???

Hi Blondey... No, I don't know the specification number. The owner of the store ordered them. They are quite flimsy and probably as you say, a dust mask. In my opinion they are useless, and no different from wearing a single layer cloth mask without any filters. But wearing some kind of face covering, even if it's a bandana, is required until the end of the month.

Our State is allowing some of the non-essential businesses to reopen today. Along with wearing any type of face mask, the businesses are required to do regular screenings of their employees. And it's now possible to get tested without having to go through a long process to do so, even if you don't have symptoms.

An added note about the masks... The goal of the State is to help reduce the spread of the virus. The idea behind wearing the masks isn't to protect oneself from getting it, it's to help reduce the possibility of spreading it in case you have the virus without realizing it. In that sense, I believe they help a little. And for the most part, just wearing them helps people be more conscious of not touching their face and remembering to keep their distance.

Wearing a mask is good for business. It is a gesture of carefulness and self-evident safety. People have free will to wear a mask or not; those who do are the opposite of a bandit.

Children age 2 and 11 have recently contracted the Virus. I heard it on the Local radio.

Now will the children be wearing Masks in the near future?

Numbers are going down again over here, as in some surrounding countries.
UK seems to have a very mild decrease in new case numbers.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that this early easing of lockdown isn't going to bring us a 2nd wave.
I heard that the USA and UK also are or are going to ease things, which I find surprising as there things aren't going all that well yet at all.
I hope it is more of a regional thing, only areas that are really doing much better and not a nation-wide thing.

Over here they apparently don't want to return things to normal until there is a vaccine. I've heard that more often of late, another nice game to get everyone injected with some chit. Someone said that if you refuse you won't get medical assistance/healthcare anymore. I wonder how this is going to develop. Forced vaccination is BS and an invasion of someone personal right to choose.

I don't think any new vaccine will be mandatory in the USA.

Studies are also underway to determine the role hormones especially โ€œandrogenโ€ play in covid pathophysiology . They hope to understand male vulnerability to the virus .

I figure chances of catching it are low, I will be better off if I donโ€™t catch it, but if I do catch it I will then have antibodies. I take daily multimineral/vitamin and eat red marrow from bones.

I breathe through my nose all the time. If my nose gets dry, I keep it moist with water spray which I mixed myself with prior boiled water and an isotonic amount of salt (about half a gram per 60 ml).

I keep plenty of distance from others; I am aware of surroundings when others are around. If someone crosses closely upwind or if I smell the dust of people, I squint my eyes and donโ€™t inhale. I avoid time in poor ventilation. I keep a mask in my pocket and put it on to talk to people.

I keep a clear plastic bag in my pocket and pull it inside out over my hand to touch things, then take it off, turn it back inside out and put it in my pocket, for when I need it again. I have a bottle of rubbing alcohol in my car in case I touch something, but need it rarely.

I am not worried about the virus. I work on being patient with others wanting their space, while maintaining high quality relationships.

Hi LS .waving from an infection control View point ., I would be a little concerned with reusing masks and plastic bags which are kept in your pocket ( same for women . Do not store used masks in purses or handbags) . Your pocket makes a nice reservoir . Apologies if I have misunderstood .

Can I ask What you are hoping to achieve with the saline spray ???

I'm sure the social distancing subject
has been brought up many times.
And, in a static world, a perfect world,
where nobody coughs or sneezes,
I'm sure six feet apart, would be just
fine.

However, in the world we live in,
people do cough, and sneeze.
Which, increases the contamination
range to about, 23 feet, to approximately
28 feet.

(i haven't read every post in this thread.
My apologies if i'm repeating previously
discussed subject matter. )

It's a real shame that all the scientists and politicians that could be sorting this out are to busy cutting hair and driving cabs laugh

I think the social-distancing distance is based on normally passing each other, and relying on people to cough or sneeze in their elbow or tissue.
Sneezing without covering your face is always rude as far as I'm concerned. It shoots out 5 meters! Which is approx your 23 feet I think.

According to public perception I've had COVID 19 for 15 years.
I've been smoking for 51 years this year.
I have sinus issues and allergy issues.
I drink dayquil/nyquil like some people drink soda pop.
I carry Halls cough drops with me when I go shopping.
One benefit is when I have a coughing spell I get the whole store to myself (LOL). Cough a little and people scatter. Cough a lot and people run screaming in terror. Its rather amusing. 6 months ago, completely different reaction to the same cough. And yes, I always cover my mouth.

Thanks for the thoughts :)

The purpose of the saline spray is to counteract dehydration of respiratory mucus from the often harsh dry air of the built environment.

Some people have to work in more dangerous situations than others. People really have to think for them self, so one canโ€™t be fooled by the Flash of their own actions were those of others, as to how safe or dangerous situation is. Protective measures should be risk based. Statistically, based on the predicted number of deaths, and the percentage of people who die who are infected, it seems like one out of 20 people will be infected. The people being safe are not the people getting infected.

If one worked with sick people one could probably make their own PAPR at home with UVC light bulbs inside several shiny tins piped together to a respirator face piece, with the exhale valve piped into ones clothes for positive pressure. It would be too expensive to test its effectiveness, so one would just have to over engineer it and select a uv c light sufficient for the disinfection time based on exhalation air flow time.

Corona Virus pandemic is continuing because people aren't social Distancing in many states in US. People are not wearing Masks while shopping and doing other things in public.

Yes it is terrible and there needs to be a Vaccine from the beginning.

There is a political agenda following this pandemic in the US. For those who don't realize this is still in the dark.
