Top German Covid Expert Pours Scorn on Boris Johnson's 'Mutant Strain claims, saying: "Politicians simply called it 70% more infectious". Christian Dorsten, the Director of Virology at Berlin's Charite Hospital also said that it was unclear whether the surge in cases in Kent and the Southeast was really caused by the new strain at all. "Show us the Evidence". Scientists call for clarity on claims that new Covid-19 variant is 70% more infectious. Carl Heneghan, Professor of Evidence Based Medicine at Oxford University's Nuffield Department of Primary Care, expressed scepticism over the 70% figure. "I've been doing this job for 25 years and I can tell you that you can't establish a quantifiable number in such a short time frame". He added: "Every expert is saying that it's too early to draw such an inference. Failure to put out the basis of the figures is undermining public trust. They are fitting the data to the evidence. They see cases rising and they are looking for evidence to explain it". Unfortunately my antivirus software tells me that the report isn't safe to download. I'm aware of the irony . You can access the same report here ... http://www.gov.uk/government/groups/new-and-emerging-respiratory-virus-threats-advisory-group If you scroll down to meetings .. you will see a meeting to discuss sarscov2 variant on the 18 dec (though the link to the report is the same .as per my other post ) . you still may not be able to see it ... Here is the section which reports transmissibility .. Four analytic approaches were reviewed regarding the transmissibility of VUI-202012/01 oGrowthrate from genomic data which suggests a growth rate of VU-202012/01that is 71% (95%CI: 67%-75%) higher than other variants. o Studies of correlation between R-values and detection of the variant: which suggest an absolute increase in the R-value of between 0.39 to 0.93. o PCR ct values: which suggest a decrease of ct value of around 2 associated with the new variant. o Viral load inferred from number of unique genome reads: which suggests 0.5 increase in median log10 inferre |

Thanks for the digest. It certainly seems that the new variant is about in several places now. It's horrifying to consider that the UK Government have effectively spread this new Covid by panicking people into leaving London and taking it with them

My understanding from BBC news reports is what caused serious government alarm was the rapidly increasing numbers of infections in London and the South East of England, doubling inside a week. Investigation showed the new strain of the virus was the main cause of the increase because of it's prevalence in the population. Far more people newly infected have the new strain instead of the earlier strain, which indicates the rates of increase within that population is higher than the rate of increase within the earlier strain population, suggesting an increase in transmission rate in the new strain above the earlier one. Scientific analysis of the new strain of the virus itself determined that transmission rate was found to be 71% higher than its predecessor, which seems to be supported by the data obtained from the current numbers of infections. |

Is it just me or does anyone else see this pandemic as a direct result of species over-population?
COVID is a mild virus (right now) compared to what could possibly be out there. The mortality rate is pretty low by comparison. What it does have is a significant population transmission rate. The mutation causing the increase in the transmission rate is directly related to the population density. In nature, when a population grows beyond its capacity, nature culls it. Humans are pretty good about preventing natural culling. The covid pandemic is significant because it tells us nature is adapting to cull faster than humans can adapt. The alarm is the next viral outbreak which might have a higher mortality rate or a mutated strain with a higher mortality rate. Over-population is the mechanism which drives the pandemic. No matter anyone's views on population control, nature is finding a way to force its hand. Our medical technology might be able to beat covid in time but the path is set and the conditions are right for a natural culling of the species. We either learn to control our reproduction rates or we go extinct. |

It's not just you Tom and I agree. I would just add the real powers that be may be behind this virus since they know there are just too many people.

I read the UK is using a different vaccine, not that Pfizer stuff, instead the Oxford-AstraZeneca.
I haven't read up on the pros and cons of this vaccine but somehow I'd sooner put my faith in that than the Pfizer. The Netherlands have purchased a specific amount but it isn't available yet for us as the EU has to approve of it yet. We apparently have purchased more of the UK vaccine than Pfizer. Some are whinging that we haven't started vaccinating yet while many other EU countries have. I'm happy about that, haha. Problem apparently is that it was decided in Nov to not have the shots given by GPs but in larger vaccination centres. Also, the health organisation that deals with vaccinations hasn't got their system set up for it yet. Great! They plan to start given the crap to healthcare workers and the elderly in homes. So we'll be off the hook for another couple of weeks I guess, in case they decide to force us to get it. I wonder what would happen then as chitloads of ppl do not want it. Me included. |

I read the vaccine side effects are an issue higher than expected and those side effects are extreme. So bad in fact, it is affecting their ability to convince people to get the vaccine.
New York City health care worker suffers 'significant allergic reaction' to coronavirus vaccine The city launched a campaign on Tuesday to increase confidence in the vaccine and to convince all New Yorkers that the vaccines are safe and effective. We also know that based on clinical trials and reports of adverse effects in other jurisdictions, reactions such as these are rare but have been reported with the Pfizer vaccine. I had an adverse side effect with my last flu shot a few years ago. Been getting flu shots for over ten years and never experienced a reaction till then and it was severe. It doesn't matter how safe they say it is or how much they try to convince me, I will not get another. They are campaigning to build confidence for this vaccine. They are ramping up that campaign. There are many people who do not want this vaccine and if serious side effects are known but pushed under the carpet in their campaign, they are withholding information and your confidence is founded on incomplete info. Nearly all drugs have side effect, yes. The issue is the severity of the side effects. I've seen the advertisements on TV where drugs are promoted and severe side effects are mentioned but readily dismissed. We are conditioned to dismiss side effects warnings by repetition. Why would anyone choose to use a vaccine with severe side effects? |

Covid never was as bad as they said it was, the numbers are cooked to keep the fear factor high. It was used to beat down the public and make them ready to accept whatever they were told, but resistance is growing
I will never take that shady vaccine. The cure is worse than the disease. We know in the short term it has some severe side effects. We have no idea what the long term results will be. It could very well cull the earth's population which is what the big shots may want |

As for the "new" strain supposed to be meaner and worse, ho hum, just another flu they are trying to hype. I wonder if those celebrities taking the shot are getting the real thing or is it just an act?

SIDE EFFECT CLASSIFICATION for
Covid vaccines.., (Pfizer /BIoNTech and Moderna) I think it is important to clarify the difference between 1. what is considered a mild , moderate , severe and life threatening side effect 2. A local vs systemic side effect 3. Exoected side effects vs rare This link provides an easy to read summary and review of clinical trial data for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines focusing on side effects . .http://www.vox.com/22158238/covid-19-vaccine-side-effects-explained Both of these vaccines use the new RNA technology .,, and reportedly have similar efficacy .. Interesting to note the dose difference between the two vaccines .. Pfizer 30 micrograms Modena 100 micrograms Would be interested to know Modernaโs rationale for the higher dose . To put side effects into context is also important . Much of what I have read in the news has highlighted severe anaphylactic reactions . One source said that at least 2.1 million Americans have received a covid vaccination dose . Of which 11 had a severe allergic reaction . There was no break down of how many have received the second dose . Will check and see if any reports/stats are available from medical databases . |

Oxford /AstraZeneca โs phase three covid vaccination clinical trial ..
Here is the medical peer reviewed publication from the phase three trial for oxfordโs covid vaccine ., it is a long report. Suggest you scroll to the discussion section towards the end as that gives an overview and discusses side effects including โneurological โ events . This vaccine does not use RNA technology ., it uses an adenovirus vector . http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)32661-1/fulltext |

I guess the health worker (in NYC) had to be hospitalized which to me, is pretty severe. Sorry I can be of much help. As a medical professional you might have some luck contacting Pfizer directly or checking their medical website using your hospital credentials? I'm sure the cases are documented somewhere. If you have access to case studies that might give you the info you need. Isn't there a database accessible thru your hospital? |
