Its not as bad as they thought, 0.4% death is better stats than with the flu! Being locked up and losing our human rights is a severe punishment for nothing, other than panic and medical mafia takeover!

I think that the latest death rate estimates are .75% but it is still very low. According to latest reports from the UK the disruption to normal medical services means that more people will die from untreated cancer than Covid-19. This seems like a poor trade off to me.

True, its confusing, and so political! The medical mafia is taking over, and we have lost our BASIC human rights all in one! Never before they quarantined the healthy.

Sorry, but why add to that negative, fear-based story that isn't even true?
Healthy people are NOT quarantined, the ones who are ill are.
Healthy people are advised to stay home more, work from home, and practice social distancing.
We can go out for walks, to shops that are still open, to the supermarket, get take-away food or have it delivered.
It's seems to become popular to say so, I guess started by people who are in fear, frustration and feeling rebellious because of that, but...
There is NO quarantine for healthy people.

Also, THE SAME THING went down during Spanish flu at the beginning of the 20th century. So it DID happen before. That also wasn't quarantine of the healthy but quarantine of the sick and social distancing and staying home more for the healthy.
EXACTLY the same!

So stop spreading fear-based bullchit.

What I see is that the decrease of NEW CASES is extremely wobbly. Not just in my country, but in others too where it's going down. It's not a nice gradual decrease, it goes up and down and up and down without really lowering further.

The UK, USA, Sweden are still continuing with the same numbers, no decrease.

But what surprised me even more... Russia is only just now starting to get crazy! Started somewhere mid March and the curve has been going up and up since. They're at approx 10.000 new cases a day!

We are now over 4 million total cases worldwide! I think we're going to get over 5 million, considering the numbers added daily from the USA and now Russia too.

The progress of this disease is really weird. Why is it NOT going down in some countries? Why is Russia only now starting to get bad?

I hope that by the end of May things will have improved more. So far we are on the way out, but a ways from being there. And lockdown is being eased, which I feel is way way way too soon...

Hello, earth calling Crystal
whoa
Our numbers are falling slightly and reference to quarantined it applies to everyone basically.
Healthy or not. A sick person was healthy before. What's the big deal anyway, it to stop the spread!
Funny how some pick and choose what they take notice of when a government advises the public!

Unfortunately, it looks like few people are observing the lockdown now that the better weather is here.

Yeah, I fear that's what is happening too, it being 22C and sunny, the first real great day of the year.
Let's keep our fingers crossed it won't backfire.

Maybe in England the healthy are quarantined. Here they are not.

Yes if you have been in contact with someone but the instructions from the government are for everyone to stay home except food shopping or for medical reasons.
Plus if you can't work from home. We'll see what they say tomorrow in the briefing.

Corona virus is still going strong in many US states. Unfortunately the vaccine has not been approved yet. Many have died and thousands sick from it.

We need this cleared up ASAP. It's serious. Masks are mandatory for some business.

Looking almost like a third world country. Sad

mask wearing for general public ....

Lots of controversy surrounding this issue and not a lot of scientific evidence yet to support the wearing of cloth masks by the general public .

Cons ... offer no protection against small aerosol transmission of covid .

Lack of tight seal against face Contributes to ineffectiveness of mask

Increased risk of infection with incorrect use and removal of the mask

Depending on fabric ., moisture retention may act as a reservoir for pathogens

Require cleaning after every use

Offer false sense of security and may reduce social distancing

CDC have recently released a recommendation that general public wear cloth Face coverings

One of the few scientific trials I could find...

here in nz our ministry of health is currently conducting a review and developing recommendations ...

I'm working on a cloth one just to meet the requirements when I don't think a face covering is necessary. When the risk is more significant, I wear an N95 or when really concerned, a half face respirator with cartridges and filters like I would when painting or spraying chemicals. I'm rather concerned with protecting myself as I am at significant risk of a really bad outcome from the virus!

are you reusing the n95 mask ?? Do you know how to test fit it and safely remove it oldkid ?

I watched a video ....using vacuum filters to make a mask ... possibly it would trap particles more effectively than cloth .. nothing to back that up but will see what I can find .

Are you somewhere high risk ???

My younger brother, who used to work for the NHS before being severely assaulted at work, won't take me to the supermarket without me wearing a surgical mask. How effective do I think it is? Better than zero but probably not very effective, I doubt if it exceeds 30% but in the absence of anything more effective it will have to do.

Well seamus, most of the masks that people are using, those blue ones are not effective against you catching the virus as the particals are smaller than the gaps in the fibre of the mask but they do say it helps stop YOU from spreading it if you sneeze. The 2 metres rule probably best and outside even better.
I just heard that Germany has had around 600 deaths today or yesterday. So that's going up.
We have a report at 7pm today on how we are doing to do things.
What makes me laugh is that earlier in the week sturgeon the Scottish leader was going to relax things but now borris is going to announce similar she has changed her mind laugh
Which goes to show that her and the Welsh are playing politics. Whatever we do they will do the opposite.
whoa

Nicola Sturgeon NEVER once said she was going to relax the restrictions. What she did say was that she felt that to do so would not be in Scotland’s interests and she would keep the restrictions until 28th May regardless of Boris Johnston’s plans/announcement.

I watched her briefing live at the time she stated this so not sure where you got that info
