That is good news cat ... lockdown is our best weapon currently . In nz we have had no new cases for the last five days . Plans are underway to move to our lowest lockdown level ... alert level l . Even when we are completely out of lockdown our international borders will likely remain closed for some time to come .

Approximately 4900 dead in my State from COVID-19. Over 100,000 cases . State is Huge 99 counties.

Fortunately our Governor has it lockdown through July right now.

Could change if numbers go down. Information comes from our Governor when he speaks in Chicago with public health director present.

You can either trust people to learn and do the right things or lock them up to protect the public and themselves.

I never trust people to protect me!

Oftentimes criminals don't even get locked up, less known a person not wearing a Mask!

Unfortunately, people don't realize seriousness of COVID-19.

In USA it's political motivated agenda now!

I don't know a single person that has been tested positive.
Of the people I have asked, none know one person who has tested positive.
The media induced fear is wearing off.

I drive by the hospital expecting it to be full of cars in the parking lot but its not busy at all.
The casinos have reopened.
Beauty salons have reopened.
Phone stores have reopened.
Bars that serve food have reopened.
The beaches have reopened.
People, for the most part, are back to work.
People, for the most part, do not wear masks.
Normal traffic patterns have resumed.
Store stock levels have returned to previous levels.

IF you don't trust other people such as the government to protect you then you have no need for a lock down as you can depend on yourself to protect you!

My Trust goes Higher up then a government.

US government cannot control the people or the COVID-19.

Only 8 active cases of covid in New Zealand

No covid patients in hospital

Sadly one more death .. a 96 year old woman ... who had covid .. recovered and since died ( “ I hope you are dancing in the sky” )

Tourism within my country is ramping up .. amazing deals .. heard japan was offering special deals to promote international travel . We are not at that point yet ., but expecting lots of unbelievable travels deals over the next 6 months . Something to plan for bigsmile waving

Could be an australia - new zealand travel bubble, once all aussy states adopt the same regulations for 'health' and tourism. Currently they are at different levels, and still occasional infections, and overseas industrial shipping with infected crew. One person died the other day.

I can see rugby and cricket 'special' games happening, with cardboard cutout people in the stands.

I wonder of the infection rates in confined spaces with recycled air, eg. planes, buses, ferries and ships.

I wonder of the infection rates in confined spaces with recycled air, eg. planes,

A common myth about air travel is that if one person is sick on an airplane, all other passengers will get sick because they're breathing the same air, but thanks to air quality control onboard commercial airlines, this simply isn't true.

Most aircraft have robust filter systems. Except for some smaller or much older aircraft, airplanes are equipped with True High-Efficiency Particle Filters (True HEPA) or High-Efficiency Particle Filters (HEPA).

These filtration systems then filter and recirculate the air from the cabin and mix it with fresh air. The dirtier a HEPA filter gets, the more efficient it becomes, so it can easily handle the passenger load, even on larger jets.

Air recirculation also happens pretty quickly. The HEPA filtration system can make a complete air change approximately 15 to 30 times per hour, or once every two to four minutes. According to IATA, the International Air Transport Association, "HEPA filters are effective at capturing greater than 99 percent of the airborne microbes in the filtered air. Filtered, recirculated air provides higher cabin humidity levels and lower particulate levels than 100 percent outside air systems."

HEPA filters catch most airborne particles, meaning their capture standard is pretty high in terms of commercial spaces. A HEPA filter's complete air change is better than most other forms of transportation and office buildings and similar to the standard for hospitals.

Good to see the UK is finally starting to do better!

We stay under 200 new cases a day now, thank goodness. Now wait for it to go under 100.

As for Australia doing relatively well compared to many other countries...
"They" say because they had early and solid lockdown. But reading what they did and when it is not really any different from what other countries did at all.
It could have to do with better lockdown compliance from the masses. I think in countries like Australia many are used anyways to be by themselves a lot, do home schooling and so on.
Then again, Swedes apparently also are very good at lockdown compliance yet they too got high numbers.
I think somehow remoteness can play a role in things. And the fact both AUS and NZ are islands and very easily locked down.
But then... Belgium had a serious lockdown. All roads in and out were totally blocked off, and I believe often even guarded. You couldn't even get in or out with a bicycle.
Yet they didn't do well at all.

So what would be the deciding factor? Remoteness seems the most logical. But maybe we'll never find out.

There are many factors affecting the transmission but population density is significant. When you are in a situation where you are only exposed to a few people for a short period of time, the transmission rate is very low.

Here in the UK The lockdown is to be eased slightly, but from a government daily update yesterday 28th May, we remain at Alert level 4, which is where it has been since the beginning of lockdown, the highest level 5 being when our hospitals become overwhelmed with Coronavirus patients, thankfully this has not yet happened.

From all the latest statistical information available they believe approximately 6% of the UK population has had the Coronavirus, that is 4 million people. The total number of people tested yesterday, approximately 120,000 just under 2000 tested positive, the numbers continue to decline, but the total number of infections yesterday in the UK is calculated to be close to 9000 people, but most will only suffer a mild infection. I found the figures, 4 million having had the disease and current daily infections of 9000 surprising. Still a long way to go here in the UK. in my opinion, before we become free of this terrible disease.

Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish first minister said though, if England get up and running again as usual, anyone coming from England and trying to cross the Scottish border, on any of the border roads, will be turned back by the Police. Scotland will remain on lockdown, she said, to prevent an oncoming 2nd wave of infections! She's right, as it's far too early to go back to normal ASAP. This virus is still out there and could come back with a vengeance if we're too complacent about it!

Scotland has the right attitude . In New Zealand we now have only 1 person with an active infection . Our borders which now represent our biggest threat remain closed . Even though there is no evidence of any community transmission we continue to test . Crowds of 100 are now allowed .. many businesses are hoping we will soon move to alert level 1 (no physical distancing required) . More than likely this is still a few weeks away .

I know five people who have had relatives that died of this Blondey. It's very much real and they were only restricted to 15 at each funeral, because of Social Distancing rules also. That Boris Johnson, couldn't run a bath, never mind a Country, to be honest! Thank goodness we have someone with common sense in the Scottish Parliament, who isn't going to pander to his every whim though. He's a complete idiot and England, will face a sharp increase in new cases if he eases the lockdown from next week like he said he'd do. I'd rather have me, my son and my family, safe, than playing Russian Roulette and going back to normal straight away. My oldest son and my daughter in law, are stuck down in London, just now and can't get home because of the lockdown. You can't travel anywhere in the UK, at present, except to go out for groceries, etc. I took my young son to see his Auntie Denise, in Edinburgh, yesterday and we had to talk to her over her front fence, outside her house, because of the social distancing rules, which was a bit surreal. Hope things are a little better for you in Oz, though?:sunglasses::beer:
