Topic: What will you do? | |
---|---|
What will you do if the whole basis of your understanding of this life, and the after this life, (whatever that may be) doesn't exist?
If you knew without any doubt that there is no heaven, no redemption, nothing like what you believe is after this life, what might you do? Basically, lets rip the rug out from under our feet, the floor too, and see what happens, hyperthetically of course... |

Party like a rock star of course. LOL!

I believe all religions are bullcrap anyway, and that if there is some kind of god, i do not need to worship him or anything anyway, so it makes absolutely no odds to me if it was proved to all be false. I would probably laugh at all the god squad religious nuts for a while though.

If I knew for certain, that nothing existed in the after life for me, and that when I died, I would just be gone, and never know the difference; I would sigh a great sigh of relief.
In addition to that, I would make the very best of this one single fleeting life, be as healthy as possible, get and stay in shape so I can have fun and party hearty until the day of my demise. With no after life, with no karma to tend with in the next world or next life, it would be a great escape from any responsibility accrued in this life. Both godly people and and the most evil people on earth would suffer the same fate. Nothingness. JB |

I hadn't intended to only encompass religions, but had mean to incorporate ALL thoughts, beliefs, understandings, of what may come next. |

I have some ideas about what might go on postmortem but no way to know for certain. I dont believe in the concept of a "god". Not the Christian mythology that's for certain. I tend to lean towards reincarnation as a plausible explanation for what "might" possibly occur once we pass from this life. But even then, is it a matter of human to human exchange only or animal to human? This aspect of reincarnation I dont really have a handle on. I just have a sense there is some kind of a "recycling" process going on as it relates to souls. Of course I would never presume to push this concept on anyone. I also resent others attempts at proselytizing and militant conversion. That is not a good idea in my opinion and it should be left well alone. When people have a need or interest, they will seek it out in their own time and on their own terms. So I guess since I have no real firm belief in anything, it doesn't matter. If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, it is what it is and maybe its nothing anyway. It could just be that once we are dead, its done with. No souls, no nothing. After all, its man's need and desire to believe in a "heaven" or "afterlife" in order to feel comforted in some respect. Nothing else says that is a requirement. |

Unfortunately, I don't think that is the case, simply because I have deduced that the existence of "nothing" is impossible.
Since the existence of "nothing" is not possible, then there has to be "something" after death. What that is, we all are trying to figure out. I think it is anything we might imagine it to be. JB |

What would you do differently? |

Party like a rock star of course. LOL! It seems to me that there's something fundamentally wrong with any religion that causes people to believe that God would frown on having fun. Why do people believe that God is so somber? Where is it written, "Thou shalt not have fun"? I think this is a big thing that has ruined Christianity. People act like the God of the Bible is opposed to having fun. They try to make a sin out of every little frigg'in thing. It's no wonder the religion is going down the tubes. Why people believe that our creator is against having fun is beyond me. |

If at all...? Nothing. That is why I seek the holy grail, the fountain of youth and why I don't drink or smoke or take drugs. That is why I look for the natural cures, the most healthy foods. I have a few bad habits to break, like sweets, but other than that I plan to live a long and healthy life. I need to get back to my yoga and five rites exercises, but I have been busy taking care of my folks and sometimes I'm just lazy. JB |

And what would you do if you found out it was all true and it was too late for some......

I guess what I am getting at here, is when we strip away EVERY preconceived idea, what do we have left? What do we have? We all seem to meander along, already looking at tomorrow, (after this life), and seem to suspect we get another go at it. What if we don't? |

And what would you do if you found out it was all true and it was too late for some...... Which one Feral? Which all was true? And would you mind having a little moment, and a think of what you may do, if your beliefs were not what you expected them to be, pertaining to the after this life? |

And where abra did it ever say that you can't have fun. There is a difference between having a few cocktails at a dinner party and just drinking with the sole intention of getting drunk. And who say that their is not loads of fun in other way....that is the most lame statement I have seen to date.
It is not written not to have fun....... |

The reason I live my life as I do now, has very little to do with "fear of God" and everything to do with respect for humanity, nature and self.
I would not change a thing if I discovered the Bible were just a well written mythology. I don't believe morality and kindness would hold any less merit were God not backing them...do you? |

I would not change a thing if I discovered the Bible were just a well written mythology. I don't believe morality and kindness would hold any less merit were God not backing them...do you? Thankyou! It was kind of my point... why do we do what we do in life, if we take away all the thoughts, beliefs, understandings, and were just us? Nothing to hide behind...would we be basically the same? |

And what would you do if you found out it was all true and it was too late for some...... That depends on what you are talking about that is "all true." (Of course since we know you are a Christian I guess we can assume that you are talking about Christianity.) I'm not even going to consider that option because it has been proven to be myth. JB |
