I see so many women who smoke, drink or have tattoos.

While I can be friends, romantically for me it is a turn-off!

What do you think?

I think you were prolly raised in an era when the only people who had tattoos were cussing sailors on the docks, & convicts

that is obviously no longer true, but sometimes attitudes & beliefs die hard

Even tho I know that is not true, I have a tough time with it myself because that is what I was raised to believe and in my parents time, it was the truth but that was a long long time ago

I have had several good friends with tattoos but I have not ever had a relationship with a man who has them IDK w/e:heart: tho I have dated one or two who do (have them) and they were fine. I actually like a lot of the body art I have seen, but am a little afraid of men who have them TBH until I get to know them - just because of how I was raised to believe prolly

I think you have the right to choose who you wish to be romantic with. I prefer to get to know the personality of the person first. I have preferences but they are not written in stone. Sometimes the person you think you are least likely to be attracted to turns out to be the person you can't imagine living without!

What do you think?

Well, I don't do any of those.
But I don't degrade people by criticizing
what they do to their own bodies.
And, they can all be HUGE turn-ons, in
the right circumstances.
Judgmental people are the turn-off.

So it is judgemental for me to say I don't like that? Is it judgmental for me to say I don't like doing drugs either? It IS their body you know.

not necessarily -I don;t feel that my fear of tattoos makes me uptight at all. i am just not an uptight person.

we are all a product of the experiences and lessons, cultural imbibment that we have lived - for good or for bad or indifferent

I think we must choose what to hold to as true and that which is better left behind

I cannot imagine choosing to reject a friendship based on body art...and besides I have seen much of it that I like. I think it is good that there is no longer a stigma associated with it.....time marches on my friend....

As you asked..of course you are judgmental,
although I did not refer to you, in any way.
You dislike the PEOPLE who do it, not just
the things themselves.
You ridicule to show your superiority.
It evens out though, I'm sure.
They no doubt despise the prejudiced.

How do I dislike, because I won't accept them due to my values and standards? I have several friends with tats.

How do I ridicule them, just because it is not for me? You are so judgmental and talk of things you know not. You are trying to stereotype me and i defy that.

Even if it is our bodies calling tattoos graffiti is a bit judgmental. Maybe it would be graffiti to you cause it would be vandalizing your body because you don't want one. But referring to everyone else's as graffiti isn't proper to the definition of the word graffiti. To those who have them its art and something special that signifies something special about themselves.

I do not reject friendship, it is romance I am having a problem with because to me it defaces their body. I am trying to accept it, the same way I have to accept earrings and makeup (I don't like those either!). I was just wondering what everyone else's take on this is.

The art part is what I am struggling with, then again modern art sometimes baffles me.

Personally, i think some tatts are HOT on a guy. But Woman who have tatts all over their arms and legs, i find it tacky. I usually dont associate classy with tatt'd up limbs.

If a women has too many tatts, ick. A man can have some. . but also feel like too many turns into a turn off for me. But they are free to do what they will. We all choose who we want to date.

Drinking and smoking are legal. I dont mind either one if people make responsible decisions. People who dont know when to call it a day---thats the problem.

A disliking opinion is one thing. It becomes judgmental when you refer to it in a negative connotation. Like graffiti which is in most cases a vandalizing of a property. Its like telling everyone else they had their bodies vandalized because you don't like them.

Its okay to not like things.Art has always been a personal choice for everyone with what they consider art. I don't like chicken noodle soup I hate it in fact. But I don't care if others want to eat it. And I'm not going to refer to those who do it in a negative way.

Saying tattoos and smoking are a turn off is fine too it is a dating site and if you expect to find a like minded individual its good to post your likes and dislikes.

I am trying to get used to tats first. Smoking means I smoke (2nd hand) and I have allergies. Like I said, sometimes drinks change your personality to the worst, and except for Vietnam i've never been much on drinking.

My daughter has a tat, a small elven woman with wings on her derriere, visible in a bikini. She waited 6 months to tell me cuz she thought I'd be mad! Kinda funny. I told her I was a little saddened but as my daughter (26) she has to live her life, and I still loved and would support her just as much as I always have. Thankfully her husband likes it, my main worry.

Miranda Lambert sang,

My daddy cried when he saw my tattoo, said he loved me anyways...
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I saw a man at the beach the other day, nothing left on his body to tattoo. it was everywhere, and his back, scared me-it was like a million tattoos that formed a laughing skull r something. the face was the size of his back though and it really creeped me out. I guess that was his goal. Usually people get special tattoos to show the world who they are and share a piece of themselves with the world. I respect that.

due to my values and standards? I have several
friends with tats.

Yes.
Because you don't accept them for who they are.
And you say you have 'friends with tatts' that
you don't accept.
Lucky them.

How do I ridicule them, just because it
is not for me? You are so judgmental and talk
of things you know not. You are trying to
stereotype me and i defy that.

Ridicule, the way you presented it:

I have never kissd a smoker, must be like
licking an ashtray!

You prejudge a whole contingent of people,
whomever does anything you don't approve of.
That is pure prejudice.
So, if someone was holding a cigarette for
someone else, the bigot marks them as unsavory.
Nothing to do with them, of course, just the
way prejudice picks and chooses.

You prejudge people you don't even know.
If you are going to do that, you should own it.
