Topic: Is not hating anything normal? | |
---|---|
(hā'trĭd) pronunciation n. Intense animosity or hostility. Emotions are neither good or bad, no matter what Yoda says. Like many things in life, it is what you do with it that counts. Not synonyms it is the definition of hatred. Yes emotions are healthy and unhealthy, positive and negative, good and bad for us. Denial is also bad for us an·i·mos·i·ty /ˌænəˈmɒsɪti/ Show Spelled[an-uh-mos-i-tee] Show IPA –noun, plural -ties. a feeling of strong dislike, ill will, or enmity that tends to display itself in action: a deep-seated animosity between two sisters; animosity against one's neighbor. Please explain to me how this is different from what I said earlier. I said that hate was intense emotion, or anger for something you want to NOT exist. That it would propell you to fight or flight. Here we see animosity means ill will, dislike, and tends to display itself in action.. We have something you do not like . . . . anger is the emotional display of dislike. Ill will, means you want to do harm to the thing, which the ultimate harm you can do is eradication. ie you want it to not exist. Display itself in action, I said hate can be good if it moves you to action against something negative. How is the hell can you use this to try to argue against what I have said is beyond me. The truth is that you are trying to preach your philosophy not really talk about definitions, and that is where the problem is, most of us are having an honest conversation and you are trying to evangelize your religion of emotion. I AM DONE. It IS beyond you all the way around. Over your head. Out of your league. Do I need to define them to? |

Simone doesn't give off that attitude that makes her seem miserable. You're often arguing and complaining about things that make you seem miserable. There's quite a difference between you two. So, I have absolutely no problem believing Simone is not consumed by hate. You were the one talking about having a long list of things you hated and you have the attitude that goes with it. In a world full of people who didn't hate slavery, blacks would still be slaves. In a world that didn't hate genocide, there would be no Jews or Kurds or Armenians. In a world that didn't hate child rape, NAMBLA would be a political party or a the very least a PAC. Hate requires no more or less energy than love does. I hate those things which would harm or destroy what I love. Would you suggest that love requires too much effort, so you just wouldn't do it? If I love children, why wouldn't I hate child pornography and child rape? If I love peace, why wouldn't I hate military aggression? If I love freedom, why wouldn't I hate slavery? I draw a clear line between taking a child to the park and using them as a sex object. One I love and one I hate. Why is that so hard to understand? Why shouldn't someone who loves children hate the act of raping them? What I think is happening is that you have made up your own definition of hate and refuse to understand that I have a different one (one which happens to be the dictionary definition). You have an obvious bias against me and that leads you to imagine me as a bitter, angry, hate-filled person. You couldn't be further from the truth. |

Hate all you want if it makes you happy!
I don't know you. We have never talked outside of the forums, so all I see of you is what you post here. Maybe you're friendly once people get to know you. Maybe you're less argumentative once people get to know you. If you are, that's awesome. If I have a wrong impression about and you really are a friendly, happy person, that's good to hear. |

Another person making irrational arguments will be here soon to say you are full of hate and any other ad hominems he/she feels they can make without being banned from the forums. |

We have something you do not like . . . . anger is the emotional display of dislike.
I don't like blue cheese and I have an extreme dislike for it. My body can't tolerate it. To even touch my tongue to it will cause my stomach to turn over and empty itself out. It will literally make me gag and puke. But I don't "hate" it. I don't want to irradiate it from the earth. (I know that some people love blue cheese.) I'm not angry at blue cheese either. But I don't waste one second "hating" it. That's just stupid. I just don't eat it. Ever. |

Hate makes nobody happy. I would much rather live in a world where nothing was worthy of hate, but unfortunately, I live in the real world. Pretending that you don't feel an emotion in order to feel morally superior to other people is beneath you. Crush that bit of your pride down and stand atop prides ashes a better person for it. |

I have no need to try and feel morally superior to other people. If you got that idea, that you're mistaken. I am a good person. No need to tell me any differently just because you don't like what I've said. I'm sure you're a good person as well. I was trying to be nice to you and say that maybe I have a wrong impression about you, but with responses like this, it makes me re-think that. |

Maybe it's because blue cheese dressing isn't a moral action or a moral agent, it's a salad dressing. If a law was passed that forced everyone in America to eat 16 ounces of Blue Cheese Dressing a day, would you hate that law? If it makes you as sick as you say, then I think you would. |

I fight earnestly over many many human wrongs in this world but I don't hate the wrongs. They are wrong so therefore I fight against them.
Hate is a sickness of the mind and body, not a positive. I quit smoking not because I hated it but because it was the right thing to do for myself. |

No need to tell me any differently just because you don't like what I've said. I'm sure you're a good person as well. I didn't say you aren't a good person, I'm not sure how you got that out of what I posted. If you choose to not get to know me, it's your loss, not mine. I'm open to being friends with just about anybody, I think almost every human has something to offer to my life experience. If I had my way, everyone on these forums would realize that "WE ARE NOT OUR POSTS". So when I rip into what I think is a stupid or incoherent post someone made, they wouldn't get offended and think I was attacking them. Have the Mods banned me? If I were attacking people, I think they would have. I attack the posts, the arguments and statements made by people, not the people themselves. |

Spider, you're the one who said you have a long list of things you hate, so that's what I was going by. I cannot say how long that list is, as you have not shared it.
You say we are not our posts. Are you completely different in your posts than you are in real life? |

I wonder if this post is full of Venus and Mars miscommunications?
Does anyone know if men define their emotions differently from women? Well, we do know that a lot of men are not good at recognizing to take care of their health well so that is not a question. |

Time for me to look at hate as a positive, (The Devil's advocate is in the hizzy!).
Lions and Hyenas. Both are apex predators but one is superior to the other. Lions are top by sheer gratis of size but hyenas are the #1 killer on the savannas. More often than not Lions raid hyena kills. It has been proven there is a VICIOUS hatred between the two species. Lions steal from hyenas. Lions kill Hyenas when given the chance and do so with a lot of passion. They will chew on a Hyena they catch until the body is long cold. Then they piss on the dead carcass. they won't even eat them. They just KILL Hyenas. BUT on the flip side of the coin when Hyenas catch a lone lion they will kill the lion and likewise when they do they make a point of defiling the dead lion and will leave enough of the carcass behind to show the lions they got one of them and the lions will tighten up their groups to deal with the Hyenas. How can this be a good thing? First of all where you have two apex predators the pressure on the game animals would be a lot more if they got along. In all reality it is a precarious balancing act between the two. First of all with the two species NOT cooperating that means the herbivores have some breathing room. Again to quality this statement Lions and Hyenas have been proven to hate each other and they do bear grudges. Hyenas have been witnessed massing up in HUGE numbers to take on a pride of lions. Likewise Lions have been known to single out Hyenas and stalk them to the point of rushing into a pack of them and singling out the very Hyena they were after in the first place and MURDERING THEM GRAPHICALLY IN FRONT OF THE OTHER HYENAS. Something else Lions have been witnessed doing is just critically wounding a Hyena and leaving it to die. A favorite tactic of a lion is to rush in and grab a Hyena by the back and break it biting into its back. It will then stand there while the wounded hyena screams preventing the others for helping it. Lions do know how to use terror on other animals and they show nothing but spite for their competition. Also take fleas for instance. They do spread disease. It was a hatred for them that led to measures of controlling them among us. Hatred is a concept, an emotion, and an ideal. Like anything else it isn't in itself good or evil. It is what we do with it and what it is being used for. If anything it is likewise instinctual. |

They feel threatened or territorial. We didn't hate fleas, we discovered they were a spreader of disease so we removed them. Hatred isn't a positive emotion. Hatred, by the definition I posted anyway, is animosity and hostility, neither reaps anything good. Both of those are negative emotions that breed bad results. |
