Hate and fear are not the same thing. When a person says they "hate" snakes they are usually just creeped out by them, or afraid of them. I have found that people, especially men, don't like to admit that they are afraid of something so they substitute the word "hate."

I think we can only hate things we do not understand.

Not liking something or being creeped out by a mouse or a roach is not "hate."

For me, hate is the urge to kill. I've been angry a few times in my life, but never that angry.

No, I don't hate. Hatred is mind poison and it is a poison that will destroy the vessel it is in.

If you actively hate things and people, you will be in a grumpy mood, you will be angry, you will have a hateful attitude towards others and being that way, you will attract the same.

This is the law of attraction.

Denying hate is exactly like denying an addiction. WE ALL HAVE IT INSIDE US. The degree varies from person to person. Some people are ruled by hate, Malcolm X is a great example of this. Even when he claimed to be a peaceful man he still was a hate filled and violent person inside.

Now snakes, so many people do hate them. I don't because I see them as a marvel of evolution and they are purpose built for what they do. They are an ultimate expression of fit, form, and function. I don't get scared because I see one and even if it was venomous I would still more than likely catch it for release away from humans for ITS safety. I can respect a snake even the poisonous ones. I hate parasites like fleas and mosquitoes. I mean if one life for could be eradicated I would chose those but they evolved here and have a place in this biosphere.

Hell, if you hate being woke up in the middle of the night for bogus reasons you do indeed hate something. Like I said it doesn't make a person bad if they admit they hate something. What makes it bad is when you act no that hate like Hitler did no his hatred of Jews.

I am not a supporter of war for a bunch of reasons. I just don't think it works .

I am not naive either and know that humans have to fight about something.

Fine

The leaders put on big plastic Sumo wrestling suits and get into a ring
No guns ... no innocent children
No faceless, nameless soldiers to hide behind
No death
No destruction to the planet or the food and water supply

It is a world wide pay per view event
Proceeds pay for schools, hospitals, food, clothing, shelter for the most impoverished

The leaders run at one another in all their rage
I can't imagine anyone being able to do that for more than 20 minutes without:

1. being completely exhausted
2. laughing hysterically

Even the crankiest couldn't hold out more that 90 minutes

That is a war I would support

Sumo wrestling? what

How violent. pitchfork

Why don't we have the leaders play a game of chess? flowerforyou

I would rather our leaders were voted in because we felt they could win a chess game than to have them voted in because we think they'd make good sumo wrestlers. laugh

~~~~
Ok, let me clarify,...
I'm not against sumo wrestling, I'm just for the chess thingy. bigsmile
So if I understood sexual slavery better, I would no longer hate it?
For the most part, hate is a waste of energy. The word is so over used that it's lost a lot of meaning. People use it for little things that really don't matter that much, such as being afraid of snakes or getting upset over being woken up. Do people dislike those things? I'm sure. Do they hate them? I hope they don't waste all that energy on hating things that aren't a huge deal.
Now, hating what Hitler did to the Jews is much different.
Let's define our terms. What does "Hate" mean? This isn't a term like "independent woman" which has no official definition...
I think this topic does not come down to philosophy, it does not come down to honesty. It comes down to not wanting what bothers you to control you.
We often think to hate is to be driven toward violent behaviors. I think many times other non-violent motivations could be called hate based on how they make us react, but we choose different words, a la rationalization.
I hate lies. I go out of my way to out a lie. I am driven to get people to be honest, even if it hurts. I would not use violence as I am a pacifist, however I do HATE lies.
i have a full range of emotions, and i dislike many things
i refuse to let hate take over my life
i refuse to wish bad on others
i refuse to let the 'bad' things others do affect how MY day goes
i don't think it's 'normal' to hurt another human
i don't think it's 'normal' to WANT to hurt another
i don't think it's 'normal' to want someone else to hurt another
i think hate is detrimental to mankind as a
whole and on an individual basis
i happen to care very much for humanity
even the haters
What is the point of actively "hating" it? I don't think you know what "hate" really is.
Sexual slavery is an activity. You can disapprove of it, but how can you actually "hate" it? It is not a thing.
"Hate" is a fairly common emotion, it has a definition and everything. In fact, I put the dictionary definition on the first page.
Hate: Intense or passionate dislike
I would say that I have an intense dislike for many things. So I guess that would mean you can, in fact, hate a thing and also that I know what "hate" really is.
I also want to take a moment to applaud your ridiculous moment of haughty condescension by claiming that I don't know what "hate" means. Bravo madam, bravo.
Well if you are full of hate, which I see you do seem to have a lot of it, then maybe I was wrong. You do know what hate is.
I would warn you though that hate is an emotion that will make you ill, and it is like a poison that will destroy the vessel in which it is kept.
That would be you, if you hate.
In addition to that, you will attract the vibration of hate and anger into your life. Is that what you want? Then just keep on hating and feeling smug about how much you know about it.
Its your life.
You spend much of your time in these forums being condescending to others. Now that you're saying you're full of hate, that makes a bit more sense, as people who hate so much tend to be pretty miserable.
So is it normal for someone to not hate anything?
I think we all go through phases when we don't hate anything and we don't hate anyone at the same time.
It is much like love, headaches, and revisions to the tax laws. They come and go.
I think it comes in waves. You heard of "hate wave". London is sweltering right now in 35 degrees. The glass-walled office buildings downtown are constantly hosed by the fire department, lest they melt. It is illegal to let your children, dogs and cats out without protective footware and portable air-conditionnairess.
I need you to do me a favor. Could you quote where I said that I'm "full of hate"?
