We had 6 kids and my grandma to support, so there were 9 mouths to feed. We didn't have cable back in those days; my dad stole clothing from the Salvation army box; and both parents were too sick to work. Even if my mom wasn't sick; she never had any training to work and back in those days women were limited to what they could do. We would get a pair of socks or mitts for Christmas and there were no toys. I had to walk to school because 10 cent bus fare was a waste of money. I went without meals to school because we had to keep a roof over our head. We couldn't even afford a luxury like going to a garage sale and forget having a car as it was not affordable. Basically; you can't make ends meet when you have nothing to start with. Try paying for medicine when you have little or no money. I had scarlet fever and the meds were very high priced and health care does not cover the cost of meds. Welfare pays very little and can't support 9 people.

and my friends used to call ME poor... WOW.. just WOW!
I guess I was lucky to be in QC then.. where health care covers meds and hospitalization for kids 18 and under.. we were only 6 at home, but dads was the only income we had.. he was of a mind that the roof over our heads and food in our stomach was top priority.. yet another reason I consider myself blessed to be chosen by them!

You're not old and jaded, you just sound ticked off to me. Men find it hard too and even I am guilty of wishing for a younger good looking man. Be honest with yourself, do you love yourself? If you can't love yourself how can you love another and how can you expect a man to love you when you're so down on aging? We are all growing old at the same rate!!!

Because there are so many rotten scammers on all the dating sites, we don't know who to trust. And if you find a good man, the effects the scammers had on you will cause problems with your new man..It seems to be a lose-lose situation. lol..But I am hoping it gets better..Learning to recognize the scams helps. Just keep on looking..There are some good men out there..

i agree with the quote above to sa point. yet, the issue of blaming spammers for an older womens inability to find love is farcical. which leads me to the essence of why it's so hard to do.

it's because many woman are just not practical/reasonable when they are younger and as time goes by the lack of these 2 important qualities cripples them in various ways.

also women don't like to listen to men who tell them the truth on dealing with men. Women have started to act like stupid *** men, and wonder why it's not working out for them lol. which point right back to the lack of practicality/reasonableness.


There are a bunch of older women who have simply lost touch with reality too. for example many woman are taking a class that seems to tell them it's ok to show pictures of their face, in twenty ways, but you better not show your body so a an can figure out what the rest of her looks like !

they speak about the more important inner aspects of a person that matter more. while ignoring the simple fact that a man sees a stranger and is usually attracted to what he sees or not, just like woman are.

yet these women choose to ignore this reality of human nature wrapping themselves in thinking a man should only want the inner jewels. It's outright ridiculous really, but you can't tell most women that truth today because they are in denial.

one of the biggest things that turn a man off is how when a woman details what she likes, it's like the man doesn't matter if he's not a little sheeple type that will go along with all that the woman wants.

women want men that don't have any backbone it seems; and it seems they don't want men who have different interests than them either lol. Their selfish/superficial hearts/mind set has them flashing a sign to many men to steer clear except they don't realise that lol.

So why am i telling the truth about this ****? that's easy because all of this affects men and who they deal with or not. Yet, most women and men don't catch on to that relationship of strangers that affect most of us looking for love regardless of sex!

I think one of the biggest reason's is women that is in the age 60's -70's are really set in their ways and yes some men as well, it is just the way it is.

Well as a man up there in that age group I'm happy a lot of my compition are looking at the "younger" women as I find the women around my age are happy to be taken out, drives , exploring etc and the field is wide open I treasure an older woman who has had all the baggage most of us have gone through and come out a better person (most) I'm not a "jumper" just like to entertain someone that appriciates life Something guys should remember


The beauty of a woman isn't in the clothes she wears. The figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that's the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. The true beauty in a woman is reflected by her soul. It's the caring that gives and the passion that she shows. And the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows.

oh here we go again. heavyweight women who are some 50, 60 to 100 lb heavyweights love to bash men with the words "if your looking for Barbie doll, keep looking" Then they could say something like "im a person, a real person" as if to bash men even more that just because they are a person, we are to somehow become attracted to them and want them in our lives?

there us a HUGE difference between having a Barbie doll in her heels by your bedside every night and a 60 to 70 lb overweight slob. Not all men want a freaking Barbie doll. I'm 57 and women in their 50's are so beautiful that I don't even care to look at a woman in her 30s. Heavyweight women need to lose the pathetic "Barbie doll" word and grow up. Fat is ugly, unhealthy and no man needs to apologize for not wanting that.

Give us something to work with, 20 lbs over is cool for I bet most men especially in their late 40's and into their 50s. Sick and tired of the Barbie doll excuse by heavyweights. just go lose 70 and maybe someone will find you attractive. Physical attraction is a normal and healthy way to find a mate
