Perhaps Todygirl5 is speaking from experience. I have met a lot of guys my age that are looking only for sex. I suspect marriage has soured them on falling in love or getting into a relationship so all they seek is sex.

I concur Viv.. in my case as well.. not saying anything about being 'jaded' though.. just picky about who I have in my life.. I deserve every right to be happy (as does everyone else, in their own ways) but that doesn't have to include sex on first date or just sex period.. in my opinion

Exactly...Sometimes sex can ruin a good friendship...I know at this point in my life, I need less complications than I ever did before. Maybe I am jaded..maybe I'm just tried of all the crap I put up with when I was younger...maybe I just want less stress in my life..who knows? But I am sick of hearing older women don't enjoy life and sex anymore JUST BECAUSE we've gotten older...that's a lot of nonsense, we are able AT LAST to live the way we want to live and sometimes that means just pleasing ourselves instead of worrying about making sure some man gets laid when he wants to and we don't.

Soured? I'd say that's a fair assessment. Marriage is a legally binding contract and nothing more. It's no guarantee that you'll stay together or mutual exclusivity. But, it does give another person free access to to my income because preventing access to family funds is abuse and one could be arrested for it.

Living together isn't any better as long as common law marriage is still on the books.

I can't imagine why anyone would give that power to another person once they understood the full implications of what they were doing.

I think it's better if both people take care of their own money and money issues and spend time together when they want. Enjoy what you have and forget about the relationship "going someplace" because you don't gain anything and stand to lose a lot.

Navygirl you are so right! Those are the kind I usually meet especially on these date sites. The wife done took them through the valley one way or another. Some I met been married more than once if over the age of 50.

Many Older women can find love if that is what they are looking for. Hundreds of younger people can not find love. Most Old people know what they want and need and not willing to settle for Less.

Also; most older people are very jaded which makes it harder to find someone. JMO

I'm not sure I'd be so quick to say 'jaded'.. Like Toody said.. it's more like not willing to settle for LESS.. I'm totally NOT opposed to dating OR (eventually) SEX.. I'm just not currently finding anyone at the same level/space/ place as me

I agree with the need for LESS complications.. phew.. although there's not MUCH I consider 'crap'.. there's just a few things I won't tolerate in another's character and feel justified in NOT allowing that kind of behaviour IN my life.. however.. I AM okay with the way things are now.. it's the way they are.. but that doesn't mean I wanna be single forever either

for some reason.. I keep getting the kind that are looking for a trophy.. last guy drove a hummer, talk about your insecurities .. anywho.. he calls one Saturday just after the noon hour asking if we could meet (ends up he was heading out of town the next day and wouldn't be back til the following Sunday), it was our first face to face.. I knew this guy and I wouldn't connect more than that because of his (lets say) odd behaviour.. so here I stood, wearing rubber boots and covered in mud head to toe just about (working outside in the rain) and figured "this is ONE way to get this over with" so agreed to a short meet.. I did warn him I didn't have time to shower and kinda gave him an idea what to expect, but still he said okay.. 30 mins later I'm sitting across the table from him at Tim's watching him squirm and keeping his distance (like I had leprosy or something) till I get a call from my youngest (he looked relieved) and politely told him I had to get back to the house.. never heard from him again.. nor did I expect to..
