How vile!! That sort of indoctrination should be outlawed.

They are worse than the most heinous madmen ever.

How anyone can allow this child abuse to continue is beyond me!

It's true. It is child abuse!

It's horrific what people will do in the name of Jesus.

Utterly horrific!

Its nothing more than a cult!
Full of mentally unstable, self-absorbed, control freaks!

Harmonious ...

I am listening to the Imams call out the muezzin and the sermons in Arabic as I type this.
Then the response from the muslim congregation after they have broken their fast from Ramadan.

I am in the middle of a triangle with a mosque on each angle.

So Im getting this three times.

Natural Instinct gets clouded by having to be "good". One begins to question their every motion through space.

Maddening, I tell you.

But as they dont have guilt or remorse, how can they be good or bad in terms of emotions?

They know when they have chewed your $400 table that they are in the "dog"-house, but only because you are the head of the pack and they are down the pecking order.
After the slink away from fear of a beating from you as you give them negative body language, they will return to you in as little as one second if you lighten your mood.

They look for the non-verbal body language.

They are not bad nor good in terms of evil, they are just instinctual.

As humans we want to give them emotions they just dont posses.
We want them to be like us as they are our best friends, whose total loyalty we cannot hope to find in another human being.

I had heard about a documentary film called "Jesus Camp" that was made a few years ago. I decided to rent it and well, my hope for the future was greatly diminished. It basically follows a group of Pentecostal Church leaders who host a Jesus Camp in Devil's Lake, ND (no, not kidding) each year. It is run by a vile youth pastor named Becky and supported by a number of parents who believe that guilt and tears equal repentance and faith.

Some of these kids are younger than five---and they are being asked to think, to think about the bad things they've done and then to repent. 5 and 6 years old--some older, but some that young.

While watching---I wanted to vomit.

One particularly heartbreaking scene was when a little boy--maybe 5 or 6 was speaking in front of everyone--at camp. With a microphone and a stunned look he said that he wasn't really doing a great job as a Christian--that it was hard for him because with Jesus he could not really know him like he knew other people or see him. He was on to something--he was being a skeptic but he soon went back to the--"I need to do more, need to believe more" something to that extent and it freaking killed me. It was pure child abuse.

He's 5 or 6 years old......LET him be a kid for a while--for the love of the god those people pray to--let him be a kid. But there is a point--there is a huge point in relation to MorningSong's statement about God revealing Himself.

Abra nailed it---so if that is true, MorningSong then why the need to minister so much to kids? Why not let God reveal Himself without guilt ridden Bible Camps. If the argument is that the camps ARE God revealing Himself then I'd counter with a simple--NO--that is GUILT revealing itself--not God.

This notion, that kids, kids that are that young should be bawling heads towards the heavens saying again and again, "No more, NO more, NO MORE......is heart-wrenching.

Oh, and the "No More" that was in response to no more being fake, no more sin, no more insincerity."

Watch the film. It was not put on by a group of atheists. In fact it was made by two women who gave 96% of the film's time to the Christian side and 4% to the opposing view. Seriously.

The knowledge of good and evil is simply an awareness.

When a lion kills another lion, they don't consider that act of killing to be "evil."

That is because "evil" like "sin" are terms that are defined within the confines of religious doctrine.

Animals don't have a clear sense of right or wrong do they?

What about primates? Chimps? Apes? Do they have a limited sense of right and wrong?

(I think they might, but not like humans.)

Therefore I think that the knowledge of "good and evil" is actually an increased awareness of self.

Could there be a fruit that could expand your awareness?

JB

The Knowledge of Good and Evil could mean the journey through the illusion of there being either one or the other (Good vs Evil... Evil vs Good). One could say that they've been imprisoned with the desperate need to run from the truth of their own bad. In adamantly denying the bad that one holds in equal parts with good, one creates more "bad" around them. One suffers.

Animals don't seem to be vexed with this "knowledge"...

Lucky Bastards

Instinct. Thats what animals use better than us.

They have so many more forms of non-verbal communication than us.

I think its 80% of our communication is non-verbal. So although we say something it might be an untruth that another part of our body will belie

Social structure is also important to animals. Heirarchy is very prevalent in animal body language.

Watching a pack of stray dogs play a couple of nights ago, it was easy to distinguish the social structure between the majority of the animals due to the understanding we have with dogs.

The dolphins are ok, personally im a patriots fan:tongue:

ok, seriously, i think the smartest animal [as to instincts] in the seas is the octopus [and relatives] but dolphins are up there also,as the whales to.

I stopped following the dolphins when Marino retired ...
The rest of the team were crap, but he was one of my heroes, even in the UK!

Actually octopi are very intelligent. They have the same level of intelligence as a domestic cat.

They can be tamed the same way as a cat, by food, and their range of emotions is startling.

They show colour and texture in the skin pigmentation.

They are my favourite invertebrate.

The fact I was lucky enough to have one touch me and crawl up my arm, enhanced their attaction for me.

I was scared witless, but patience and stillness allowed this beautiful animal to explore me and then swim off!

Going scuba diving already proves that humanity is not top of any food chain!!!

(If you had seen some of the people I had to try and teach to dive, you would know what I mean)

Ascribing human emotions and characteristics to any animal is a very big mistake.

Compassion is not an animal trait, it is a human one.

The mothering instinct is just that - an instinct.

Dolphins have got it right ... their lives revolve around playing, eating and having sex.

Apparently Jesus died so we could all run amuck on this planet,
And then say "OOPS MY BAD" Forgive me father for I have sinned...........

and then you have to ask them ....

So are Buddha, the Dali Lama and Ghandi in hell?

You won't get an answer that will suit you because you're confused. Studying this religion & that one does that to people.

I truly mean no offense here...but, that above quote is, by far, one of the most ignorant and narrow-minded things I have ever heard/read in a forum.

Knowledge = POWER!

The art of "studying" is to provide answers, eliminate confusion, evoke enlightenment, challenge our minds, broaden our horizons...etc.

To suggest one should not "seek answers and options" regarding their own path towards faith/spirituality/religion through studying is well...rather "cultish" sounding to me.

Regarding the topic at hand, I'm not completely sold on this "heaven" and "hell" concept today. I do, however, believe we choose to either work in harmony with our soul's chosen destination for this life or not. Based upon this decision, we therefore create our own "heaven" and "hell" which flows with us into the so-called afterlife.

You will have to excuse certain people ... they have moments of lucidity and then when it passes they come on here ... laugh

Im still waiting for an answer to the question.

Due to my chosen religion, I don't get labeled "religious" people assume our morals are nill and our standards are low, what they don't understand and are afraid to see is that in actuality we have an ethics code that is out of this world.

"Harm none do what thou will" has more responsibility than any other "law" you can shake a stick at. It gives so much freedom that the responsibilities are endless.

Sounds like a pretty good edict ...

Why would you want to change from that?

Belushi's photo
Mon 09/01/08 08:49 AM
They say we have enough to lessen it significantly but if all they say is will take to long for it to produce . That was the same thing they said in Bush 1, and Clinton. I wonder how things would be if we would have started drilling then

They may have been waiting to try and find a cheaper way of getting it out.

Its a mighty expensive and environmentally damaging process.

Is any prez going to take the gamble and get booted out after 4 years for being environmentally raping the country?

Belushi- I don't necessarily need him in my life, but after reading what people have said that he said, I find it to be quite a nice addition to what I already believe. I'm willing to take that leap to accept that those were his words...

See, now this is a fundamental problem I have with religion in general.

I would assume you have morals.
I will take a leap and guess you dont kill anyone, dont steal, you would like to think of yourself as thoughtful and considerate to others feelings.
You would assist the elderly and the infirm if it was in your power to do so.
You respect your fellow human beings and given the opportunity would work to provide for your family and you would raise your children to be the same.

Would all that be fair to assume?

These are the things that I strive for too.

I have the moral fortitude to fight for the underprivileged.

I have no need for any religious personalities in my life.
I feel that they are more of a burden than a help.

These choices I make are mine alone. I make them because I want to, not because someone else says they are right.

I do these things and because of that society will label me as a moral person.

No one will ever label me as religious.

Why dont you run for senator, governor or mayor? You would have to have the money and the backing to start with.

You cannot tell me that your average Joe is able to get into big time politics with no money.

Look at Clinton ... she ran out of campaign funds and so "lent" herself $5million.

Could you or I do that? I dont think so.

We would never be able to. Plus I have an OWI on my record so I think that would disquallify me. Or boost me making me look like a more average person. Oh wait I am an average person, Thats wy I cant

Money talks and unfortunately we all have to listen to it.

At the moment the money that is talking is black and liquid and it runs our cars and trucks!

Sadly, until this becomes a worthless commodity, it will have a big say in running the US/UK/Europe
It will never become worthless to many things we use day to day need it not just our cars a lot of things you would never think of.But I do believe we need alternate sources overall but we should drill here and keep the profits here.

I agree about it not being totally worthless, but if we found an alternative method of powering our internal combustion engines, then the price would come down, as we wouldnt need it.

I dont know enough about your drilling issues to make a comment, but it is a depletable resource and maybe one oil company should take the lead and find an alternative.

McCain's stance on oil is untenable. He will never be able to end oil imports totally.
Not even the US has that much oil, does it?

I know exactly who I am and where I stand in life, I am an eternal student.... I'm strong enough in my convictions to question other schools of thought.

However forcus is being taken off of the topic by questioning my spirituality...

So it seems the concensus is "yes the murderer is in heaven and the victim is in hell"

and that buddha, Ghandi, and all of the Dali Lahmas are in hell.....

I'm even stronger in my convictions now... Thanks for all the info folks... I knew I had made the right choice in my life.

Well apparently you already made your choice before you asked the question.

Why would you want to be somehwere you wouldn't feel comfortable. Right? LOL

Choices...always choices...

I know this is a difficult concept for you... I asked because I was hoping somone could give me a better answer than I have ever gotten... You see a God who would allow a murderer in heaven and a victm in hell would not be a God I want to follow... (I do believe in Jesus, as a man who had wonderful teachings and spoke of love and tolerance) but his daddy ain't cutting it for me... So i asked in order to maybe clarify something that had maybe been misspoken or misconstrued to me.... apparently this is not the case and I did understand correctly.... So I can embrace jesus, but rebel god (that one at least)

Good luck in your search...

So, why dont you answer her question?
