Thomas Paine said it best, 200 years ago.
He contended that it is a contradiction in terms to call anything a revelation that comes to us second-hand, either verbally or in writing. He asserted that revelation is necessarily limited to the first communication, and that after that it is only an account of something which another person says was a revelation to him. We have only his word for it, as it was never made to us. This argument never has been, and probably never will be, answered. Revelation means that something was communicated to someone who did not know it before. Therefore, anything that humans have done or seen themselves does not fall within the scope of the word revelation. This amounts to most of the bible. Think about it. All those accounts of bloody battles, building of temples, rapes and murders, wanderings through the desert, conversations and parables, are all things that people could have done themselves or seen done. It is not proper to call the bible a revelation. The bible is not a revelation. It is, at best, second-hand hearsay. I am under no obligation to believe fantastical and miraculous accounts that come to me by way of hearsay. If god wants to give me a revelation, he can do so anytime... Religionists use the bible, a self-proclaimed "perfect" source of absolute truth, and revelation, and imagined "personal relationships" as support for their beliefs (that they'll live forever and are watched over by some protective father figure). It's all wishful thinking. Atheism is formed from the observation that there is neither evidence of a god, nor the need for a god as an explanation of anything. |

How can u sit at ur puter in another country and call those that are on the brink of losing their homes irresponsible when u don't know the reasons behind each individual foreclosure? There are many hard working Americans who are losing their homes not because they won't pay their mortgages but because they have unfortunately lost their jobs, many due to work being sent overseas due to cheaper labor, who no longer have the money to pay said mortgages. I dont think; 1) Im calling anyone irresponsible. 2) Winx is from outside the US 3) Republicans are not American ... Anything else? Yeah I do have something else. Thank God You aren't in this country in control of anything. I love it when people for other counties generalize all Americans.(Good ole American sarcasim, in case you don't recongnize it) I don't know anything about your country so therefore I'm not gonna sit here and bash it in anyway because that would be unfair of me. However I do want to say, Don't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their moccassins. I take great offense to your statement that all people who are losing their homes are irresponsible and I'm sure that I am not the only one. Not all Americans are money hungry monsters who want to control the world. Streotyping and generalizin all people from a particular group is a sign of ignorance. Can you actually read? The US Senate has approved a rescue bill designed to prop up America's battered housing market.
The new law creates a $300bn (£150bn) rescue fund to help thousands of homeowners get cheaper loans. It may also be used to bail out the struggling mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, which own or guarantee around half the nation's mortgage debt. The bill has been approved in a very short time. President George Bush is expected to sign it into law next week. The housing crisis is causing serious problems for the wider US economy. Almost 740,000 US homes entered the foreclosure process in the second quarter of 2008, according to research firm RealtyTrac. The worst-hit areas were Nevada, California, Florida and Arizona, which had seen the biggest house price rises during the boom years, and the largest volume of sub-prime lending. The bill's Republican critics say it will cost US taxpayers billions, and query the wisdom of bailing out irresponsible homeowners or unscrupulous lenders. |

Disparate passion exploding into violence! Ask Britain. As I am British, I think I have a fairly good view of the UK immigration issue. We dont hate our immigrants. It is the minority who are trying to stir up hate and violence. The minority who are afraid that their sad, pathetic little lives of drinking, abusing and ignorant anti-social behaviours will be disturbed by immigrants who want to work and provide for their families. Racism is based on ignorance and inflexibility. Face facts, you will never stop immigrants coming. They are desperate human beings and as such will always find a way in. A group of women are sitting around and discussing life in general. Jane says "I don't know what I would do without my husband, he is the sweetest, kindest, most generous man I know." If we are using the analogy that Jane is a Muslim. (as opposed to a christian) How should the other women react? Has Jane insulted all of the other women's husbands? No, she has simply stated what she believes about her husband. She obviously loves her husband and was talking about her love for him. The other women would react with disdain. Jane's husband is not forgiving, he is a bully and he is a misogynist. No, she has not insulted other wives husbands as she blindly concerned with feeding her husband's ego so that he will feel great, even though it is as the expense of her own self-esteem and freedoms. Christians all love their religion and speak of it as being the truth. This isn't an insult to any other religion, because the members of those religions all feel the same way about their own.
Christians dont all love their religion. Catholics, for example, are consumed with guilt for everything that they do incorrectly in their lives, so much so that it forces them to seek forgiveness and confess. I was christened. I had no choice. I was an infant. I disowned all religion. You dont "love" christianity, it is used as an emotional crutch when you want to talk to yourself. If a Muslim didn't believe his religion was the truth, then why be a Muslim? because it is asked for in the majority of paperwork, and because he wants to feel part of a group.
Humanity is afraid of being an outsider and if you are afraid of being abnormal, you will conform, or you will have been indoctrinated to believe. |
