Can I just ask, is there a reason you picked the bible?
Would substituting the torah or qur'an be good for purpose too? btw .. still disseminating the question ... |

If you have a virus, chances are AVG will find it.
If you have malware, then Adaware should do the trick. However, neither of these will totally delete the residual files in the registry. There is a small program that publishes the files that are running in your machine. With this print out, you can delete them (in safe mode) and there is a huuuge forum for support in doing it. The program is called hijackthis and the website (and its associated forum) will guide you through using it. Good luck. |

You arent alone. Ive been reading the bible the past couple hours and my eyes are watering from laughing so hard. I like this one.
Deuteronomy 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. Its a good book for sex, drugs and murder. Although the hero gets it in the end, he, kind of, cheats by getting dad to help him back home. Im still waiting to find out if the butler did it. |

Yes but you are using xtians which equates to Christtians which means adding an extra letter which is kinda contrary to being lazy, ne c'est pas? Dont you mean n'est-ce pas? ... or was that you being lazy? No, that was me not having written anything in French for about 13 years! And you're still not following standards in being lazy! That's the trouble with the world today, no religion, not oil, not Mr. Bush - it's the lack of standards! But that's the whole point about being lazy. I dont have to adhere to standards. You said it yourself, the two are not mutually exclusive, but they can be used in tandem. |

Although Krimsa, the church is keeping up at the moment.
The papal administration is saying that there could be aliens, but if there are, then they are xtian aliens. and .. they have updated the 7 deadly sins. So, you have to give them credit for that. Abortion is still a sin but stoning unruly children isnt. Im confused. |

being lazy sounds like a lot of work Only when you dissect it like he did .. |

Maybe, but if I want to be lazy, then surely I have a right to be as lazy as I want.
Plus I am not using xmas in my posts. It was used as an example. |

Well if you're going to be lazy at least have standards! If I had standards, I wouldn't be lazy. Would I? |

its intent is that I cannot be arsed to write out christmas or christian. Nothing more. If you're abbreviating it like xmas, then taking away Christ from it should leave xians, not xtians right? Or is there some double meaning there? its intent is that I cannot be arsed to write out christmas or christian. Nothing more. |

Just what does that mean, inspired?
The words were certainly written (and re-written) by human hands. But what reason do we have for supposing that it did not come from the mind of man? Is it a book that no person could have written? Why not? The claim is made that the bible is the word of God because no one in their right mind would believe it otherwise. The stamp of inspiration is made on the words so that they might be enforced. The bible is claimed to be true because it is the word of God. It is claimed to be the word of God because God says so. Priests and ministers say it is so because of revelation. The basis of the revelation is the book itself which is claimed to be inspired. And so on, round and round in a circle. (It's called circular logic). To prove that a book is inspired you must prove the existence of God. You must also prove that this God thinks, acts, has objects, ends and aims. This is somewhat difficult. It is impossible to conceive of an infinite being. Having no conception of an infinite being, it is impossible to tell whether all the facts we know tend to prove or disprove the existence of such a being. God is a guess. If the existence of God is admitted, how are we to prove that he inspired the writers of the Bible? How can one man establish the inspiration of another? How can an inspired man prove that he is inspired? How can he know himself that he is inspired? There is no way to prove inspiration, any more than one can prove he had a particular dream. The only evidence is the word of some man who couldn't possibly know anything on the subject. What is inspiration? Did God use men as instruments? Did He cause them to write His thoughts? Did He take possession of their minds and destroy their wills? Were these writers only partly controlled, so that their mistakes, their ignorance and their prejudices were mingled with the wisdom of God? What does all this mean? What is it all worth? How are we to separate the mistakes of man from the thoughts of God? Can we do this without being inspired ourselves? If the original writers were inspired, then the translators should have been, and so should be the men who tell us what the Bible means. How is it possible for a human being to know that he is inspired by an infinite being? How can we be certain that it wasn't all in their heads? But of one thing we may be certain: An inspired book should certainly excel all the books produced by uninspired men. It should, above all, be true, filled with wisdom and beauty -- perfect. It is claimed that the bible is the inspired word of god. It's obvious that it is not... that it is only the work of uninspired, flawed humans. Throughout history, some 40 "holy books" from different religions from all over the world have claimed to be "divinely inspired." What makes any one of those books legitimately inspired, and the rest impostors? |

hmmmmm "xtians" seems kind of intentionally demeaning though only if you take it as such. Do you find xmas demeaning? |

what I see: Christians are trying to give you something that they see as special Atheists are trying to take something away from you hmmmmmm I see the first part almost the same. But when you decide not to accept the something, xtian philosophy is to tell you that you are not going to heaven. So unless you believe that something, you are going to hell. Atheism isnt trying to take something away. There is nothing to try and take away in the first place. If your faith is strong, nothing an atheist will say will change your belief system, and you will not get upset about it. Its only when your faith is challenged, do most xtians try to defend themselves by attacking the atheist with the words "hater" and "heathen" |

No, because if you think about it if you dont "convert" as you like to call it you dont go to hell because it doesnt exists. You Convert because well i suppose it is different for everyone, not an ultimatum causing if you covert for such reason do you really convert? But if I dont become born-again, in your opinion, where am I going when I die? Nahh lets me and you both know hell is in existance, and if you dont want to go to heaven thats the only place left.. not really a choice id say, we chose after all. Not really, what about the catholic point of view of purgatory? Or the islamic way of everyone going to heaven (because allah forgives everyone) and it is the degree of how close you are to him that makes a difference. Spanking ... Fair enough on the spanking thing ... wrong place anyway Agreeing to disagree. |

Who threatens hell Belushi i havent mentioned it once actually, just because its a 2 road street means little to the point of christianity.. I make no threats.. Spanking is not violent, the action behind the spanking determines if it is violent or not... and i agree with you, telling someone they will go to hell is not a good way or start to a relationship with god, but remember that i am not them.. nor are they God =) If that is all you have obtained from the bible you have seen little or have picked parts you dislike about the bible i have a couple favorites which apply outside the world of religion I never said you threatened hell, nor made any threats. there was no implication that you did either, either. Would you say that this is an indication of convert or go to hell? "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." Mat 7:14/15
Doesnt it mean that if you dont find the path to jc and god you will not be going to heaven? Is that not a clear indication that says "Unless you do this ... you will go to hell"? In the King James Bible, the term "hell" is used 54 times; 31 times in the Old Testament, and 23 times in the New Testament. Spanking is violent. Raising your hand to another human being is violent. I dont care what intention is behind it. There is no need for it. I could cite at least 3 beautiful children that have never had a hand raised to them, and they are respectful, honest, kind and will carry on their beauteous humanitarian feelings with them and have no need for any form of religious intervention. |

""Firstly, Satan is a creation of god. Why? Why put temptation in the way of weak humanity if it was not to punish them for taking it. That is not the sign of a loving father."" I wanted to answer this as well. Think about it though, TO give man a choice, life is choices from the day your born until you die. Not to punish them, to allow man to have choices. Loving father... you have children? If so do you give them choices or plan to shelter them until they die.. maybe this is just me but it seems these questions arnt thought through? If you have kids, you want them to grow without the fear of fear itself. Threatening them with hell is not doing that. Children respond better to positive reinforcement than threats and cajoling. Beating a child because he has done something wrong will teach that child fear. All it will do is teach that child that violence is the way to control. It will also teach the fear of doing something wrong. Therefore he/she will think twice about even asking. Telling xtians that they will go to hell with satan if they dont "take god" is not the way to convert people. But following the guidances set in the book doesnt work either. There have been many debates about the contradictions in the man-made bible/qur'an/torah But none actually give positive reinforcement. Its all ... "Unless you do this, you will go to hell!" Your "loving" god doesnt do this. According to your bible, he condones infanticide, genocide and slavery. Not something that I would ever want to be a part of. |

okay okay take a breath you believe what you want and I'll believe what I want That's fine. I have no issue with that, as long as you dont hold it up as the only way to me, then we are good. |

You just dont know why things happen is why you ask all these question.. Why did starvation start? Could it have been due to people not relying on God anymore...? Have you noticed the increase in death, MAn-Man murder theft natural disaster due to people taking God out of thier life but yet we blame God more???? how ironic... If i take you serious -Believers are more than happy to praise their god during the good events, yet they never blame him for the bad.-- If your serious then you live a unhappy life, instead of being greatful for what you have you are unhappy with what you dont have, that is a horrible way to live, because all 180 people could have died, you dont know why it happened they way it did but in time it all makes sence.... Ok first off ... I do not hate anyone or their religious beliefs. If you want to believe something then Im ok with that. But when you hold it up as the only way, then I will ask questions and cite real-world examples, and expect you to justify why you believe what you believe. I live in Egypt, in the Sinai Desert.. 18 people have been kidnapped in the south near Sudan and Libya. Bombs go off all the time, they caught three terrorists carrying bombs on a ferry from Aqaba to Nuweiba last week and I am an hour from the Israeli border. So, I am grateful for my days. Im grateful that I can sit on my rooftop and look over the Red Sea to my right and the mountains to my left in total peace and quiet, and yet know that it could all be snatched away in a millisecond if some jewish or muslim fundie decides to blow someone or something up like they did 3 years ago 2 miles from where I live now. That being said. Firstly, Satan is a creation of god. Why? Why put temptation in the way of weak humanity if it was not to punish them for taking it. That is not the sign of a loving father. Secondly, you have done the classic religious thing of changing the subject subtly that you answer my question with another question. So, to bring it back to my original point. Why does god allow millions of people in Africa to starve? You said Why did starvation start? Could it have been due to people not relying on God anymore...? Have you noticed the increase in death Starvation starts when crops fail due to no rain and people have nothing to eat. No rain? Surely thats a simple thing for god to do. After all he managed to create the world in 6 days. How can babies and children who have nothing to eat, and are days from death, a painfully slow death, be accused of giving up god? When was the last time you went a week without food or water, to find that the water you have been given is tainted? The increase in death is due to environmental conditions. If we are to believe your stance then your god created the environmental conditions, therefore he is responsible for the starvation of millions. Hardly a loving god, is it? You ascribe your western values to god and assume that he will provide for you, when in reality you are in a luxurious position of being in a society that has too much food and disposes of it as opposed to feeding your own homeless. |
