There are much worse concerns To come than toilet paper shortages

Think about that when you're on the bog and there is nothing to be found anymore... laugh
we do not have a shortage in my country .. not yet .. I am more concerned with the recession. And a death rate that is now over 7%. . The chaos has not yet started . Infection rates are already increasing for the Netherlands .. a silver lining ... I am expecting a down turn in the sale of tobacco .. but I could be wrong lol

Sure it's still on the rise here. Quite logical. We were one of the last to get it, even though surrounded by countries who already had lots had it, esp Germany.
So you can expect to get it here too at some point and then for it to go up in numbers. Nothing unusual or out of the blue. Hospitals etc were ready for when this would happen.
Infection rates vary greatly in different areas. So far not many in my province.

China is likely over its peak of cases, and a great many have healed. This gives a bit of an indication of how long it's going to last.

I wouldn't get the champagne out yet. Almost every country has cases, including NZ, and even countries who didn't have any a few days back. Being the last to join the party doesn't mean you get off easy. Too soon to tell, although I hope things will go different.

China locked down cities and enforced quarantine in infection centres to help contain the virus . They were also able to build hospitals extremely fast ., Response from the global community has been slow ... Europe is now the new epicentre but China still has new cases of infection, deaths and evidence of reinfection arising . It will be interesting to see what happens as life returns to normal and Wuhan is lifted from lockdown . Import / export bans are still in place for them .. as are travel. Restrictions .. including who can now enter their country . There is still much that is unknown .. at least Now we know it is a pandemic , it is contagious with multiple modes of transmission and it is not a flu .... Yes New Zealand has a total of 8 cases but as yet no evidence of community spread .

Yes, I think they did act quite fast, which again is logical considering the amount of Chinese people living on top of each other. Thousands moving around every day, so yes, then you get a lot of infections fast and spread of it too, making lock-down a logical step.
We see over here too that the more densely populated areas have more cases. It is now moving into the other areas too though.
The same is happening in the US. Big cities have many cases. All logical.

As for reinfection, wait and see till we have enough recovered people in Western countries. If China's testing was faulty, as well as their diagnosis of recovery, it may not mean anything much.
Too early to draw conclusions.

Would it be wrong of me,
to just wander around, inside
government buildings, coughing
on common surfaces?

Spread from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects

It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

So...Fearmongering:

*You should never leave your home.
*Your home should be wrapped in a sealed plastic bag.
*You shouldn't allow things from outside your home to enter your home.
*If you must go out, wear an approved full body hazmat suit (preferably with its own self-contained breathing supply which you constructed and filled yourself in a clean room environment).
*Never have sex again, unless you live with your current mate and only if both of you are wearing full body condoms.
*Eat only home grown, home processed self-cooked food.
*Only drink well water. (who knows how many virus coated hands touched that bottle?)

Basically, don't touch anything anyone else might have touched.
Including the bottle of hand sanitizer or the paper on a bar of soap.

Ain't life great!

Yeah, and unfortunately almost everyone is into this fear-mongering.
I'm not a fan, not with this, not with other stuff.
So right now that means limiting what you do online and in real life to avoid it.

Good luck being proactive and preventing re-infections in China!
China have the resources.snd technology to be proactive . I am confident they understand the risk reinfection represents . Their position is valuable in terms of being in advance .. we have a wealth of information from their scientists and health professionals regarding medical intervention .. what has been successful and what hasn’t worked so well . Without that sharing it would be a very different situation .

If China need my help in being proactive .. i would be happy to lend a helping hand ( wearing a hazmet suit of course lol)

The city of Waveland on Thursday announced the postponement of the Waveland Civic Association’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which was scheduled to roll on March 14 at 1 p.m.

β€œDue to the advisory warning issued by the Mississippi State Department of Health, the city of Waveland erring on the side of caution and regrettably will be postponing the annual WCA St. Patty’s Day parade to an undetermined date,” Mayor Mike Smith said in the release.

In a release, the MSDH recommends that, regarding mass gatherings, β€œindividuals, communities, and organizations take specific steps when determining their safety or the need for cancellation.”

β€œThe MSDH is expanding access to COVID-19 testing,” Mississippi State Health Officer Thomas Dobbs, MD, MPH said in a release.

to an undetermined date???
OMG! Its St Patrick's DAY not St Patrick's Season.
St Patrick's DAY Parade is a parade which happens ON St Patrick's DAY.
Just cancel it and do it next year. Sheesh!

The MSDH reported the first presumptive positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state of Mississippi on Wednesday.

Instead of closing down public sites, a measure that public-health experts have taken in other countries, the head of the shrine in Qom called on pilgrims to keep coming. β€œWe consider this holy shrine to be a place of healing. That means people should come here to heal from spiritual and physical diseases,” Mohammad Saeedi, who is also the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Qom, said in a video.

As many as 276 Indians have been tested positive for Corona virus. This includes 255 Indians in Iran - evacuated and in quarantine as of today.

All primary schools closed across India.

My poor/failing health has kept me isolated for years.
My kids are calling me more, checking on me.
My sister called to check on me.

I'm told Kansas has closed schools now.
Gun sales are up in Pennsylvania.
Non-essential jobs are being shut down in my son's union.
Bay St Louis is under 'state of emergency'
Street sweeper machines are running every other day here.
Our government is going to be sending out stimulus checks to citizens.
Federal taxes have a 90 day grace period.

Not sure if it has happened yet but you might end up in jail for coughing in public. I have a smoker's cough. Sometimes I cough without realizing it. I cover my mouth with the back of my hand automatically.

I'm not going anywhere. Not because I fear getting sick but because I don't want to deal with all the public insanity.
If I contract this virus it will be from my gf bringing it here.
So be it.

I'm not going to suspend my relationship due to fearmongering.
Visitors are still welcome (I have plenty of soap and water).

Sorry Blondey

Seems I misled you - was for / to mean something else.

No reported cases of children getting affected. Our border states have closed primary schools and since exams are going on, high schools will close by month end.

Anyway, found this at-a-glance picture
