Welfare is much more than food stamps and a small check per child. There was a thread at one time about it...more people are getting "welfare" than most realize. Many things are in the "welfare state" category. The difference is some feel entitled to it and feel a single mom should have been more careful.. All should see what counts as welfare, most would be very surprised. Unemployment is up, that isn't surprising. The economy is drowning, a lot of promises from a country that never really delivered...this creates a sense of entitlement. Personally, I've never been on welfare though I could have been I chose not too. This country is disappointing everyone in one way or the other, if this is a way some people are getting back at it...I have no problem with it. |

As I stated earlier in the thread. People will always find something to complain about. Not wanting to foot the bill for an abortion, not wanting to foot the bill for single moms on welfare. Maybe we should get morrisey as our president. We could all be Asexual and not have sex, then we wont have to worry about welfare and abortions.

Not wanting to foot the bill for an abortion, not wanting to foot the bill for single moms on welfare. yep...have the baby and get any welfare and your a lazy person using the system.. have an abortion and your a murderer.. the only sensible choice to some is have the baby and give it away... Those who suggest that have probably never done it, I know one girl who did give her baby up..she is glad she did, but it still haunts her everyday. Always easier to make judgments call when your looking at one's life..not living it. Maybe that is why we shouldn't make those judgment calls in the first place....hummm what a concept.

I waited another twenty minutes. It was warmer and I did not mind so much. Eventually the lights were switched on, the audience seated itself, and I was escorted to the platform, was introduced, and began to speak...In the end, through simple illustrations I believed I had accomplished my purpose. Minorities include more than just black folks and it doesn't even state on here who is claiming this as accurate nor the supporting evidence. Well, a highly charged topic with a "for or against" vote...what could you expect? Certain topics are really difficult to cover in an environment like this. Add that there is a lot of intolerance for other's opinions today...mayne more than I've ever seen in my life. It's a powder keg. There are probably better topics to discuss...I mean the proof is here before our eyes. People get nasty...resort to "ad hominem abusive" arguments...what's the point?

So...just a theoretical question to those who are totally against abortion no matter the circumstance. What if you were raped by your father or brother? Then would your mind change? Like I said...I know this is rare circumstance but it is something that does happen. i was thinking the same thing... i do believe that a women should be able to do whatever is right according to her own morality and ethics. i dont not condone abortion as a way of contraception. i have very strong feelings about/against it. i would not have an abortion myself... |

I am not only pro-choice, but I've also paid for two abortions. I am all done having and raising kids. If you are done having kids then why don't you take the steps necessary not to get anyone pregnant? Abortions are not a totally safe procedure and can cause serious complications for your partner's health it seems selfish to present that risk when you don't "have to" to hold on to an ability you don't want anymore. |

Then you have NO idea exactly how it works. I was on it for about a year. I got 190 a month. You can't live on that at all! Not only that, but when we finally went to court with my sons father, he had to PAY BACK EVERYTHING the state had given me. Not only that, but while you receive assistance, you have to either a.) Go to work or b.) go to school. How could anyone survive off of 190 a month? Why do you care? I have worked my whole life and paid taxes, so why don't I deserve some help when Im down? I get sick of people complain about things they have NO clue about. Food stamps is completely different and there are more people being dishonest about that than anything. I am not on it any longer, but thankful that is it there for people that need it. I was constantly appalled at the folks who have Lexus SUV's sitting outside the welfare place. I counted 2 and a mercedes benz and a hummer, one day while I was sitting in the waiting room. Sell the dang vehicle, get something used, and get to work. The money spent on that alone would feed a group of people. Quit milking the system. The gal in the office said they were directed to ignore the vehicles, even though they knew that it was owned and belonged to the people sitting there waiting for their money. While I was reading this part here I began to wonder how could the states rules vary since these are federal funded programs. I don't understand how one state will give food stamps to someone who owns a Lexus and here not. My sister was making payments on a Tracker and was told to sell her vehicle and give up the 200 or so that her payment was and that, that would cover food for her and and her 2 kids. Another I know was also denied food stamps and told the same thing..she had a monthly payment on a Taurus. So I'm not sure about being able to get help when you have an expensive vehicle when these girls I knew were paying on just your basic car.. I don't have a personal experience, I am grateful that I have not needed such help, even without getting child support...something in this story doesn't add up..the rules must all be the same since it is federally funded. yes? no? |

Go to a clinic,,,go to one in a black community, and TALK to these women with an earnest approach to WANT to KNOW their whys,,,,and how Many,,,and THEM... Then go to a white community and do the same.... YOU SEE, HEAR, KNOW,,,Both of their reasonings behind WHY their doing this,,,,and THEN,,evaluate your hypotheses AFTER LEARNING THEIR TRUTH and ITS NOT A BLACK AND WHITE ISSUE! oh damn-it man,,I gotta get long here. OK,,,,Blacks were repressed for many many years because the controlling people in government were white racist's, they did not want to care for or about black people in this country, until Martin Luther King,,,MADE them and this Country OPEN they eyes to the depressed racist view and LAWS that blacks had to live WITH each day of their lives, THEN,,,,we saw that THEY were being wronged. And the women the same no teachings of that or practiced by most so,,,they had babies,,and THEY WERE TAUGHT THAT,,,even though their parents told them all about sex and NOT TO,,,they LEARNED through what they were told and believed them selves...and others who had already had a baby quit school and became young mothers.. Find out enough about the women you bed down to know what their solution to and unexpected pregnancy is going to be. If it doesn't jive with your values then find another partner. |
