you use the Bible like a weapon! That is how they got the expression Bible thumper, your trying to beat people with it. If the Bible is really what you think it is it does not need defending . ========================================================================================== SpiderCMB replied: Actually (Yes Sororitygurl, I looked this up!) Bible Thumper refers to someone who thumps the Bible and says "The Bible says...", but doesn't read the Bible. I read and quote the Bible, so I'm not a Bible Thumper. You can however call me: Fundie, Nazi, Hatemonger, Homophobe, Indoctrinated, Cross worshipper or Jesus worshipper if you feel the need to insult me. |

Hi jess!!!

Question spider...
I will make a wonderful wife one day? and all the insinuations you attached to it, is not personal? and if you need correlation...you wrote an interpretation of what you first quoted in your judgement of me...smacks of inconsistency... |

Hi AB!!!

No need for insults..You have shown your inflexibility..I don't care for
it, so I will move on and leave you to your pile of paper.. (Written by men, and oppressing women) |

All things christian have but two real sources. God and Christ. ============================================================================================ Adventurebegins Wrote I made not a statement about what christians believe. I made a statement about what I believe. Big difference. ============================================================================================ SpiderCMB replied: Would you like to change that statement? |

Spider why would anyone want to insult you?
You have some wonderful insights. |
|

"You are far too literal and closed
minded to connect the dots." I just said "She's being extremely closed minded and trying to turn a statement meant to encourage non-violence into an exhortation of violence." "You would make a wonderful wife! You catch your husband with your best friend and you say "Do whatever you want and I won't judge you, because some religion I don't believe in said something about not judging." Just in case you couldn't recall what you had written.. |

I've seen people do all kinds of things in the hope for enlightenment.
Some of them pretty crazy, but they did it all of their own free will! Not because someone told them that this was the only way. If there is a god, wouldn't he/she want you to have the ability to choose your own path rather than having it force fed!? |
|

There's that loophole Harry, the sub-clause we aren't meant to
mention... FREE WILL!!! (and I don't mean the False Killer whale) |

Judgement is required to do just about anything. "Is that car in front of you too close, should you apply the breaks?" I don't believe that you would be okay with infidelity in your husband. I was showing you that YOU DO JUDGE. It's a necessary part of life, which is why Jesus offered instructions on the Godly way to judge others. I wanted you to understand that your personal interpretation of that scripture was flawed and made no sense. I meant no insult. It was deeper than that. What I wrote was an attempt to make you think about the scripture rather than just repeat it by rote. Quoting the Bible isn't about picking a verse and typing it into a post, it's understanding the context in which the scripture was written and knowing the lesson the scripture teaches. The rhetorical tool that I used is called "Illustrating absurdity (your interpretation of the scripture) with absurdity (my statement that you would accept infidelity for fear of judging your husband). |

Thanks Harry..
I was trying to say something along those lines, but I am not as eloquent as you are, my friend! |

Why would I want to change my statement.
I did not say 'Christians believe'.... I made a statement of truth-as-I-see-it. Christ is the prophet that brought christianity to life. God was his source. when faced with a mathmatical problem that is difficult to solve one must first reduce and then simplify. What could be more simple. No excess baggage. No misenterpratation. I need not quote a single word to believe this and my faith is stronger for my belief. |

Jess642,
Um...I'm not a Calvinist, I believe in freewill. You are free to choose: Destruction or Life. You guys would really love a Calvinist. A Calvinist would make you all long for the days when little old SpiderCMB was the most vocal Christian. |
|
|
|
Hahahahah...did that feel good?
Really? Fascinating...I admire your convictions...I admire your strength in them, spider. There is none that affect me...none that would be disconcerting...it is only your young ego, and you zealousness I find disconcerting... The closed mindedness and judgemental way you have of attempting to diminish any who ask for or question YOUR words. |
|
|
|
So you believe in free will, Spider?
Why do you try to forcefeed us with your beliefs? They are right for you, they are not right for us that don't fit in boxes. |
|
|
|
Oh I have run into christians that were more vocal. I have never run
into one that quotes as much scripture as you do. Off course I have no way of knowing if the things you quote are correct because I do not pour over the bible for my guidance... I ask god. (for the benifit of those that need to see respect to the word i ask God/GOD) |

invisible,
Please read someone elses posts. Nobody here qualifies their beliefs. Everyone speaks from a position of conviction. I have said over and over that everyone should feel free to speak with conviction about their beliefs. I have NEVER attacked anyone's religious convictions, I have simply stated mine without question or doubt. Please re-read my posts without the assumption that I am trying to force my beliefs on others. Read other peoples posts and see if you find any difference in the way we present our beliefs. |

Spider,
As to point of infidelity with my husband and whether I would or would not be ok with it, First hand experience....I was not perturbed...is his path not mine...and is what he chose to do. I wasn't bent out of shape, I did not judge him. And it was my best friend. |

Invisible,
Tonights session of "Everyone attack SpiderCMB", was started because I told a Christian that she makes good points in her posts and she shouldn't back down from her beliefs. It quickly turned into a "Christianity promotes violence" thread, because I called the Bible the "Christian's sword". It evoloved from there to the point now, where you guys are saying the same old arguement "SpiderCMB trys to force his beliefs on others!" |
