Sounds a little like General Washington during the revolution. Obviously - the missing point of your story is that the Judge is omniscient, and knows the hearts of everyone in the courtroom - so their words are just echo's in the wind.

Perhaps, but isn't it curious how the God of Religion always finds in favor of the religion of the penitents before the court who acknowledge his omniscience?

But that is always man's argument. They ask to formulate opinions when not all of the facts are known, and accept the truth thereof. On an emotional level - do I think Dahmer is in Heaven, and his victims in hell? Hardly. But I just don't have enough of the facts to make this claim with any certainty. Everyone one of Dahmers (or insert_a_serial_killer) victims may have cried out to God when the reality of their inpending doom was before them. Besides - it's all hypothetical anyway. From the questions straight through to the answers - no matter how logically and cleverly constructed. And Hypothetical situations are never presented with all of the necessary facts to establish an acceptable truth.

Well, that's how we poor non-omniscient beings divine Truth, if you'll pardon the expression. We have to painstakingly construct these models and test them for their rigor, giving them more credence which each iteration of falsification they survive.

Eljay,

I said I would not argue with you and I won't. You took something I said, meaning one thing and turned it around to mean another. That was YOUR doings, not mine. I will refrain from making deragory remarks..and I opened my statement to you with the fact that it was MY belief and MY belief only ......read the first thing I typed first. Whatever is your truth is YOURS...whatever is mine is MINE.

Quik,

As far as your statement about my cop out answers and the shedding of INNOCENT blood...

One of the 10 commandments is: Thou Shalt Not KILL. It doesn't say thou shalt know kill except, or thou shalt know kill unless...it says Thou Shalt Not Kill.

No where in the Bible do I find any commandment God or Jesus made and then followed it by a BIG BUTT!!

this thread of anything has taught me who's post to read and who's post to skip over and skim....

I think this thread has taught me that until someone dies and returns from the dead to tell us all what happened and I don't mean a couple minutes but I want them dead for about an hour and half. Until that day comes, then none of us can know definitively what will await us so its best not to run around acting like you have some point of reference that is superior to any other persons' on forum.

Hmmm. Its apparent someone is having a temper tantrum here and running a muck. Well whenever you feel like sobering up and actually writing in a cohesive manner, let us know. By the way, my post still stands if you feel like responding. I dont think a bunch of crude insults will qualify as rebuttal.

Or you can go ahead and delete your last post to take my response out of context like you did on the Sodom and Gomorrah thread laugh

As does mine. Have you finishd the N.T. yet?
You could at least read that. The O.T. isn't going to give you the perspective you are missing on Christianity anyway, so the task is not an insurmountable one.

Found purgatory in the scriptures yet?

Busted? You don't know half of what even Krimsa does. At least she thinks before she posts.

Eljay,

Still trying to get people to read the science fiction that is the NT I see..huh

I would suggest they read "The Law of Attraction" and "Ask and it is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks, and see which books inspire them more.

You have not responded thus far that I can see except a bunch of whining and gibbering like a parakeet. You have not written anything new that I can possibly respond to. What about you? Have you looked up the Cro-Magnon man yet? I dont see why I would not be allowed to use the term "purgatory"? That makes no sense. Are you now attempting to assert that your own interpretation of hell is somehow more viable and authentic than that of the Catholic Church? Let me fill you in on a little statistic sir if I may. Approximately 1 billion people are Catholic, at least through baptism even if they neglect its practice. This means 1 out of every 6 people on earth is a Catholic.

I don't know about the God of "religion" - as to the one in the bible... He's omniscient, there is no "before".

But that is always man's argument. They ask to formulate opinions when not all of the facts are known, and accept the truth thereof. On an emotional level - do I think Dahmer is in Heaven, and his victims in hell? Hardly. But I just don't have enough of the facts to make this claim with any certainty. Nothing to pardon - stated quite succinctly.

It remains easier when something is demonstrated as being clearly false - provided one has not established a premise supported only with subjective perception. Two people can always agree on something if they agree on the axioms, but without omniscience - no absolutes about the axioms can exist (outside of mathematics of course - because the axioms are well defined and accepted) However - without evidence, many things can be rejected. The existance of unicorns, pink elephants, boogy men... Then it remains what is acceptable as evidence. For some, evidence must exist outside the realm of experience and perception. A miracluous healing might qualify as evidencial experience of the existance of God - whereas for another it does not meet their parameters for "fact". Herein, lies the chasm. What will always remain unknown - is WHY we are incapable of bridging that chasm with a truth that can be substanciated by everyone.

I'm not looking for an argument from you - just an explination. Either God has power over all man, or man has changed the bible. You just can't have it both ways. If you think this is so, I am asking you to desribe it to me.

I'm not providing anything to this discussion - the references are all what you have stated - not me.

You are dead right there. You are no longer having a positive nor constructive influence on this discussion Eljay but instead insulting people and their beliefs. Please refrain from that behavior. She in no way was attempting to argue with you and even said that to you in the first line of her response. Cant she simply speak her mind? Many of us have found her comments very helpful and expressive.

Jeannie;

All I'm asking is that when someone tells me what the bible says, and that I've somehow read it wrong - i would at least expect they would have read it for themselves. Else WHY are they commenting? What sort of opinion could they possibly have on the interpretation of biblical text without knowing what it even says?

Would you expect them to engage in conversation about your interpretation of "The Law of Attraction" as being totally false - knowing nothing about what you are even talking about?

How would you respond to that?

I'm not asking them to read the N.T. - I'm saying that if they want their opinion to not seem absurd, read it before you comment on it.
