oh c'mon...there are people sitting in shelters..or going to soup kitchens just to have some sort of holiday. Especially this year..things are tough out there. I think anyone who has a home, a safe, warm, dry place to linger is one of the fortunate ones.

I have my boys..I haven't had a partner for years..some say at least you have your kids, well yes I am grateful for them indeed. It is not the same as a lover, partner. The boys do their thing, mostly I am here alone because they are of an age they are off doing their own thing.

Even alone I am grateful I'm not walking to a soup kitchen for a meal...

Misery brings people together. I have experienced misery when i grew up, and while it's absolutely terrible to be dirt poor, you are actually richer than the richest man in the world if you got 30 people around you wishing you a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays.

AMEN to that!
My kids used to ask me if we were poor and I would ask them, what do you think? Do you have a roof over your head? a meal today? clothes on your back and someone who loves you? ....It didnt have to go further than that :)

EXACTLY, so cant oh C'mon anyone...who knows, maybe I am one of those in a shelter...if I am or am not, does it matter? still a warm roof over a head and a meal served, doesnt change the emotional, lonliness part in ANY situaltion, regardless...everyone's emotional life and situation is different

I apologize.. flowerforyou didn't mean to hit a nerve. I also posted how hard the holidays use to be for me...so I understand, didn't respond to that one...

I hope you feel better.

NP! Wasnt jumping on you like it sounded, so dang hard to write emotions..lol
but yea, life is tough, its how we deal with it that matters, attitude is everything, even tho we may be sad and down, its the getting up and keep going part that matters

Silence,
the whir of the dishwasher
a distant car,
thoughts that won't cease,
alone.

sad,
missing,
cold,
gone.
alone.

four walls,
memories,
still missing,
alone.

quietness,
blank walls,
mixed emotions,
still alone!

The holidays can be great, but can also be a sad time, especially with the loss of a loved one or family that can't be here....or you're just plain all alone!
how many of you like myself, have such mixed emotions about the holidays?

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?
1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?
2. Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.
3. Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!
4. Rottweiler: Make me.
5. Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.
6. Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!
7. German Shepherd: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.
8. Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.
9. Old English Sheep Dog: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb!
10. Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.
11. Chihuahua : Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or "We don't need no stinking light bulb."
12. Greyhound: It isn't moving. Who cares?
13. Australian Shepherd: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...
14. Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

How many cats does it take to change a light bulb?

Cats do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs. So, the real question is:
"How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?"
ALL OF WHICH PROVES, ONCE AGAIN, THAT WHILE DOGS HAVE MASTERS, CATS HAVE STAFF!

LOL I like this! Thanks for sharing! :)

this is a biach....about the local bird fanciers who did a dastardly deed...
there was an osprey nest on the local cell tower. of course when it is boinking season, they screech. and they fly all over the place...like diving into lake silicon for fish....but they are glorious birds to watch when soaring in the sky....

somebody took the nest down, and i think they should be shot for doing it. everyday, i would ride by on the bus or walk by and look up in the sky for the nest....messy as hell with sticks all over the place, but still a sacred thing...noway smokin

mother nature should not be tampered with, so city officals i think it stinks what you did. take that....frustrated frustrated

I agree, just leave the nests be, unless they are actually putting a structure of a building or bridge ect in danger, let them be! Around here Swallow nests are ALL over and they build under bridges and highway passes ect...I think they should be left. ..what are they realy hurting except for a pile of bird poop on the high way...oh maaaaaan...thats just horrible(rolling eyes)
