Know way too much about the guy. Feel badly for all who are personally involved in the mess. Really don't think any of it is 'news'...not sure why it was dished as such.

I don't find your preferences offensive. We've all got them. Some of us aren't able to identify and express them as well as you do, but we've got 'em. Does it help to know that there are many of us who wish we fit your preferences and vice versa, Lex? No, maybe not...but it is true. I, one among many, find your honesty and wit a great deal of fun.

Any chance that it could be that most people, women, as well as men, don't take the time to read profiles? Is it possible that most people first notice something about the way a person looks, whether they encounter each other in this venue or in real life? I'm not convinced this is just a man vs. woman thing.
Maybe other things play a part in this. I know I'm attracted to very different people now than I was in my 20's and 30's. But there is still always something that is appealing in the way someone looks. Gotta admit, it is more often a person's smile that I notice than anything else, but that is still a superficial assessment. I've known some very unpleasant people who happen to have great smiles. |

Being alone is bothering me less each day. Not sure I'm no longer missing having someone special in my life...just think I'm getting used to missing that. I'm a little concerned that I'll get set in my own ways, though...don't want to set myself up for always being on my own by not allowing room for someone else or not remembering how to compromise/cooperate/negotiate on things.

What do you folks feel, when you read a profile. And they have listed their marriage status as Separated? Just wondering?? Before my divorce was final, I was introduced to a couple of men who said, "Let me know when things are settled." I didn't understand it then, but I do now. The marriage was over, for sure, and I never tried to fool anyone about my situation. But the whole 'divorce process' can be complicated, frustrating and time-consuming...none of that is conducive to fully enjoying a new relationship. I realize now just how wise those guys were in making that distinction ---> Separated does not quite equal single. |

I sometimes regret, not my spelling or punctuation, but the content. There have been times when I should have counted to 10 before sending.

I don't mind hair as long as it's not coming out their nose or ears... I nixed one gentleman because he had long, black hair across the bridge of his nose...as well as a fine mustache and beard. On meeting, it initially fascinated me...couldn't quit staring at his nose. Almost reminiscent of a werewolf, you know? Wouldn't have bothered me so much, but once he noticed me staring, he suddenly began apologizing for not shaving it. "I usually only shave my nose on Tuesdays for bowling night. I forgot since this is Friday!" My comment? "Ya mean you will shave your nose for your bowling buddies, but not for the first meeting of a potential love interest???" Yeah, weird body hair...beyond the chest, back, etc. |

Ummmm...is this ? If so, I'm sorry...I'm afraid it took me some time to get my facts straight.
It is NATIONALIZED medicine. Which means that some 200 million people will be paying for the medical care of roughly 1 billion people. From what I've been reading, those who pay taxes and have health insurance are already paying a great deal for the care of the under and uninsured. Unfortunately, those folks aren't getting very good care. Seems they usually don't seek treatment for common, highly treatable illnesses until they are seriously, sometimes dangerously, ill. From "The Uninsured: A Primer" by the Kaiser Foundation *note the date* "Projected Government vs. Private Dollars as Share of Total Uncompensated Care in 2004 Private Dollars - $6 Billion(15%) State Dollars - $11 Billion(27%) Federal Dollars - $24 Billion(58%) Total = $40.7 Billion From the Wichita Eagle (Wichita, Kan.) 05/29/2009: "Study Says Insured Pay Uninsured's Health Costs" The average family pays more than $1,000 a year in additional insurance premiums to cover the cost of treating the uninsured, according to a new study by a Washington-based health research and advocacy group. Seems that the health care in countries with 'socialized medicine' may be better at caring for the least of us. Infant mortality rates are commonly used as a yardstick to gauge the health of a country's over-all population. The following are the estimated infant mortality rates for the U.S. and a few countries that do things differently. From the Cia World Fact Book: United Kingdom 4.85(deaths/1000 live births) 2009 est. Canada 5.04(deaths/1000 live births) 2009 est. Cuba 5.82(deaths/1000 live births) 2009 est United States 6.26(deaths/1000 live births) 2009 est. I'm thinking I'd rather have my money spent to keep people well than have it spent to clean up after they crash and burn...rather everyone have access to treatment for things like high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease than read about breakthroughs such as hand transplants and the like. |
