I think you'll recognize yourself in this song. I'm sure you are around here somewhere, this is the last song I will dedicate to you. The years go by so quickly now, I hope you will allow yourself to love someone before your time has passed. Be well...

"John Q. Lonely" - Maia Sharp

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v55VFoXCncs

When I first shook hands with John Q. Lonely
He was sitting in a room that held him only.
He said don't feel bad I'm just a regular guy.
My life is the way that I want it
With nobody else’s writing on it.
Don’t have to waste my time living a lie.

Ah, people like you are never complete
Without a ring on your finger, a dog at your feet
And a house on a suburban street named after a tree.
Not me.

Go to work each day in a little white cube.
I come home each night and sit in front of the tube.
No one to tell me what to do or say.
Its those distractions...I don’t need them
What could I love more than freedom?
Something you don’t have...can’t slip away.

Ah, but people like you, you cry and you cry
When you find out love’s just a four-letter lie.
You say, "Without her who am I suppose to be?"
You worry about me?

On his fiftieth birthday, John bought a cupcake.
Almost wished that he had a namesake,
But thought better of that before he blew out the flame.
And on this day unlike any other,
Just for a moment he imagined his mother.
He thought to himself I could have taken her name.

All the people like me who spare their regret,
Are foolishly giving more than we get.
We’re not stupid enough to let somebody in.
Not me, not again. No!

Salutations adventurer LouLou2. May you find much happiness, love, success, health, and laughter.

Why, thank you! My wishes for you, as well.

'Know all'? 'Bossy'? *gulp* Now, just who were you talking to??? grumble (What is that I'm hearing in the back of my head? Is it all the times I've said, "Well, I think...", "You should..." and "It would be better if you'd..."? oops )

'Inner critic'? 'Self-esteem' issues? Ah, yep...ohwell

'Let the past hurts go'? The accumulated hurts of 55 years have become far too heavy. I'm learning to leave them at the side of the road, finally. But dang! It's taken all these years to learn to do this!

'Intuitive'? I often know things I've no way of knowing. The only times I've gotten into trouble have been when I didn't believe my intuition.

The only thing that doesn't quite feel right in all you've said? 'Blue'. I'm not fond of the color. Maybe I need to embrace that, too? It might bring me some added luck!

Thanks, again, for your time, trouble and the food for thought. It was fun and provided me with some thoughts on which to reflect. And reflection, for me, is a very healthy endeavor. flowerforyou

The ticket may be not to love based solely on what a person looks like or does...but with who the person 'is'...you know, the stuff about a person that doesn't change? That's not easy...takes time.

Oh...and there aren't any perfect people...there is just people.

Sometimes I feel like I did as a child...clapping my hands frantically while watching Peter Pan...in the hopes of keeping Tinkerbelle alive. I still believe in romance and love. It would be so much easier to become jaded...but believing is so much more fun.

I wasn't...but I kinda got offtopic . Daydreaming for a minute...but the dream was much more fun than talking about lies...ohwell

is this stupid thread still going yawn

Really...could we just agree that all people lie. They do don't they? Who hasn't at some point or another?

Been my experience that when people lie, its usually because it is either easier, more expedient or somehow beneficial to them.

Do you really want someone painting you with such broad strokes??? Don't you prefer someone who pays attention to detail? The details are my favorite...

if some one looks at your profile more than once?

No. Why would that bother someone? I thought that was why people posted a profileslaphead, so others could check the profile out. After all, it's not like a person is peepin' in my windows or something!

LouLou, your puppy is absolutely adorable!

See? I peeked... blushing

Thanks! That's my Ralphie-boy...all terrior - allllll the time!

 Do you think its strange for two people that have been in a dedicated relationship for 6 months to not have said, "I love you" yet?

Not at all. 6 months? That really isn't very much time to get to know someone, is it. How does one love someone without knowing him/her? If a person truly has and expresses loving feelings so early in a relationship, I'd be wondering who it is they love...perhaps just a figment of his/her own imagination?

drinker I thought the rule was: "If you don't Vote, you can't Bltch."

I can *****.......Simply because the BS affects me....I didn't ask for it, did you?

Bitchin' is free, and I 'spose anyone can do it, but when people have died for the right to vote...both here and elsewhere...I just kind of feel I owe it to them to at least take advantage of what we have here. Yeah, even if it isn't always what I'd hoped or been led to believe. Its not perfect, but its more than some have got.

Paolo Nutini is one of my favourites. And he just dropped his new album. He's a little soul, a little blues, a little odd and cute to boot!

If you're into blues check out Colin James. Also one of my favourites. A Canadian artist with a good voice and wicked guitar skills.

bigsmile

Oh and women...Duffy and Adele are both amazing!

Paolo is mine, Sunny:wink: !!! But enjoy Duffy, too. I'll have to check out Colin James...we seem to enjoy much of the same music. Odd. There must be 25 years between us! Ah...but music speaks to the spirit, doesn't it?

The sixties were nicer and more friendly? Really? Ask a black person about it, Civil Rights Act was signed in 1964 prior to that segregation was legal. In the 60's they were still being hosed down and chased by dogs.

You are absolutely right! There was ugliness back then...and it took a concerted effort by people of many colors to change that. Are things the way they should be because of our efforts? No. Not by a long shot, but I can tell you, my racist, sexist, bigoted father is spinning like a top ion his grave at the very thought that a man of color sits in the White House! The civil rights movement was fueled in part by the change of heart and the atmosphere of the 50's and 60's. Thankfully.flowerforyou

I miss the atmosphere of those days...the mood wasn't so dark...there was hope. Hell, we stopped a war! We felt we could make a difference then. Music wasn't as mean-spirited as some that is popular today. Although I've got to say...there is a lot of great music that has been made since. People weren't so focused on 'Me'...there was more thought to 'We'. I miss those things. I also wonder what happened to the knowledge we had about recreational drugs...how did we miss passing that on to those younger? Most of us knew that putting anything into our veins was not a good idea...where did that message get lost? Maybe I'm just remembering things through a filter of sweet nostalgia.
