Naw. I admire him and enjoy his wit, but I prefer older fellas. Just like the 'no kids' thing on Lex's list...if I were looking, mine would have a 'must be over 55' caveat. But, dang...20 years ago? I'd have been jumping up and down, waving at him and yellin' "Me! Me! Me!!! No, he's not the guy for me...nor I the gal for him, but there is someone out there for him. I just know it!

GOP Senators Refusing To Work Past 2PM, Invoking Obscure Rule "Senate Republicans fuming over the passage of health care reform are now refusing to work past 2 p.m. -- a tactic they can employ by invoking a little-known Senate rule. On Wednesday, the Judiciary Committee was forced to cancel a hearing as was the Senate Armed Services Committee. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) tweeted today : "Disappointed. Rs refusing to allow hearings today. Had to cancel my oversight hearing on police training contracts in Afghanistan." Sen. Mark Udall also complained that he had to delay a hearing on the cause of Western forest fires. Making good on Sen. John McCain's threat to withhold all Republican cooperation from Democrats in the Senate in retribution for the majority party using reconciliation to pass health care reform, the GOP used the rule that states committees can only meet when the chamber is in session with the unanimous consent of all members. That consent has almost never been withheld -- until now. Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.) asked for consent for his panel to operate Wednesday afternoon. He noted, ironically, that his request had the support of McCain. "There is objection on our side of the aisle and therefore I object," said Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.). The GOP objection blocked testimony from Admiral Robert Willard, United States Navy Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command; from General Kevin Chilton, United States Air Force, Commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, and from General Walter Sharp, United States Army Commander, U.S. Forces Korea." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_511639.html Seems the GOP can just go home, grab a beer, kick back and let their minions do the work. Won't even get their hands dirty. The U.S. News & World Reports article on the threats and violence that has begun made me shudder. It's as if the GOP has simply made the snowballs and can now sit back and watch others throw 'em. And the best part? They have no accountability for what may happen, whether it be threatening notes or severed propane lines. As per usual, the big guys can denounce the actions with sidelong winks, and the little guys can take the fall for them. We remain a nation of sheep with very few of us, right or left, capable of thinking for ourselves, let alone negotiate, compromise or even acknowledge an understanding of another's point of view. The 'love it or leave it'/'my way or the highway' method of discounting the views of fellow citizens has been flung about for as long as I can remember. As in any type of us/them issue, the truth and solution most likely lies somewhere in the middle. I doubt I'll live to see light shed on that truth...I have given up on any hope of seeing a solution. As far as executive orders superceding law? The last president had no problem with that, and I'm sure others will be happy to give examples of more...both Dem & Rep. And as far as the GOP not walking out on our military when they decided to cut their day short? So what? Not staying to listen to the good man was what...just 'collateral damage' on the war on Obama's agenda? This is not a war! I'm sure the good Admiral would have been willing to explain exactly what a war is. I understand that our lives depend on the decisions these men set out to make for us, but to conduct it as a war? I fear the body count on this 'war' will be counted in numbers of "sheep". |

The number of folks in this little posse has doubled since last evening. Ummmm...that would be 2 members...well, 3, including Lex. The combined efforts of just 2 Minglers has already sent a list of several potential matches to Lex.
It was actually a good deal of fun searching last evening. With a little more help, we might just find the right person. Aw, come on. Join up. Hit the Mingle search with Lex's list in mind. Send Lex the usernames of any potential matches you find and enjoy some good karma for your efforts. |

Anyone recall Lex's thread, "The Mathematics of Failure"?
http://mingle2.com/topic/show/268797?page=2 I've suggested that a posse could find a woman for Lex, so this thread is an official, LexFonteyne sanctioned, request for volunteers to help scour this site for women who fit Lex's List, as follows: We are searching for a woman who... 1. Doesn't have & does not want children. 2. Wants a long term, exclusive relationship, but not necessarily marriage. 3. Is drug and alcohol free. 4. Is creative in her own right (artist, musician, writer), or at least, appreciates the creativity of others and its demands. 5. Must be able to and enjoy communicating. 6. Is intelligent. 7. Must have a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at (and possibly leap over) Lex's sarcasm and cynicism. 8. Should be tolerant of other's religious beliefs and political views, or lack thereof. 9. Would be willing to take some time to learn about each other. 10. Is living within 50 miles of Crown Point, IN or would be willing to relocate. 11. Should be reasonably athletic/physically fit and active. 12. Is of a reasonable weight appropriate to her height. With a posse of us all hitting the Mingle search with this one goal in mind, I believe we can beat the odds that Lex has convinced himself are mathematically against him. Yes, most of the folks here are looking for someone for themselves, but if Lex's mathematical calculations of probability are allowed to stand...if he, with all his winning attributes, can't find anyone...what are the chances for us regular folks? Let's prove the math wrong. This is not a totally altruistic endeavor. If we are successful, this hunt could give many a little hope that, indeed, there is "a lid for every pot"! Who knows, some may stumble on someone who is just perfect for themselves in the process. Besides, the good karma won't hurt any of us. For the love of love! The man has been here since 2006! High time to prove to him that he should stick to writing and forget about math. All those who are ready, willing and able, I respectfully ask for your assistance in aiding in Lex's Woman-hunt. |

Do what I do and bury them under the stoop...they can't leave that way... Yeah, but I've been with enough stoop-id ones already.... They should have a MENSA dating circle, then you could glean from a selection of your peers. Smart is one thing, but are they CYNICAL enough? That's where the attraction comes from! Stop that, Lex. I'm working on a mathematical improba...er...no, wait...impossibility here. Don't make it any more difficult, please! |

But, does that mean the "crap" women talk about isn't real? Naw, crap is just crap. Men's? Women's? Just depends on where it's coming from...could just as easily be coming from that fan that seems to have been misplaced... |

Women need to feel the emotional roller coaster and then feel her man's stability through it. Am I right? I don't think so...well, not necessarily, anyway...and certainly not all women. I've spent much of the last 20 years avoiding emotional roller coasters. Didn't manage to eliminate them until I eliminated the ex from my life. He wasn't much good at that stability stuff. NOT to say, however, that no man is good at stability...um, just the ex. Seems to me that no one is able to ride an emotional coaster without some help or cooperation. When it was obvious the one I was trying to avoid wasn't going to stop, I jumped off...whew! |
