I'm not much for gadgets, but I do have a tendency to buy furniture at junk stores and flea markets that 'just need a little work'. I now have no less than 5 old (from the 40's) wooden chairs that are in various stages of refinishing, an end table that needs it's legs re-glued, a buffet that needs several very small repairs, etc. I'll be dead before I get all my 'little' projects done!

there's a certain amount of tact required when giving someone an honest answer. 'not being mean' is subjective. telling me that i might find a more suitable dress is a little different than telling me i look like a pig in it. A pig? Now. that would be a blatant lie...not honesty. |

Some people have thinner skin than others, and maybe mistake honesty as something said to be purposely hurtful? Being tactful can be difficult sometimes, and I have a tendency to say what pops into my head. Guess I've unintentionally hurt some feelings because of that, but I was truly just trying to be honest.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the truth is that NEITHER side really cares one way or the other about what is important to us...if NEITHER has the country nor our best interests in mind...if NEITHER is invested in anything but what benefits the powers that be, themselves? The worst thing that could happen to the GOP is the over-turning of Roe vs. Wade. The worst thing for the DNC would be a functional universal health care system. What would either have as a rallying cry? What else would keep the little folk constantly at each other's throats? "Divide and conquer." It's been used successfully for a very long time by BOTH. Simple...nothing new, but obviously effective. Yep, tried and true. Our country stopped caring about us in about the 60's or so. True, or possibly that was when the veil started slowly dropping from our eyes. No, about the late 60's early 70's they just suddenly dropped all care in the world. Before that at least the Presidents did what we voted, after that they just did whatever the hell they wanted too. Won't dispute it...you may very well be right, but very sad either way. I just hate when my innate optimism and idealism runs headlong into reality... |

TxsGal...you know us smaller women are predisposed to osteoporosis. Something you might want to have checked out. I know I have the very beginning stages--not enough to start shrinking yet, but I'm sure that's coming one of these days. And I'm only 5'1 1/2" to start with... Was just going to mention that. |

Times of grief, troubles and sadness have allowed me to identify those who love me most. I cherish those folks. They helped carry me thorough the worst of my days. It is a joy to now give them the best (as the saying goes...).
I can only offer what worked for me: Spend your time, thoughts, heart and efforts on those who stand with you through your pain. |

It's fun for a while, but then the stuff that was once kind of amusing, or sort of exciting, or just plain different starts becoming annoying, or unnerving or just plain odd. Little differences are nice, major differences have only caused problems for me.

Over 2 years now. Strange at 1st after so many years, but I'm starting to think I prefer it. Becoming somewhat uncivilized, though...not making the bed, eating tuna out of the can...haven't started peeing in the sink, yet. Too inconvenient, I'm thinkin'

THE AGE PROBLEM
|
|
Okay, I'll be brutally honest here. I used to live with the love of my life, Marilyn. She was born in 1942, I was born in 1969. We met and fell in love in 1990. I didn't care how old she was, she didn't care how young I was, we were both consenting adults, we got along great, and we really didn't care what anyone else said. It was perfect for us. We lived for each other and that's all that mattered. I lost her in May of 2004 from a heart attack, I will always love her, and I cherished every moment we were together. So to me, age really doesn't make that much of a difference to me. Personality does. Love the one you're with. I'm so sorry, but it is nice to know that someone had that type of relationship and knew that kind of love, if for too short a time. Don't see it much in those around me...have never had it myself. Very fortunate you are. Just one of the reasons I'd be reluctant to date a younger man...the years creep up so quickly now. |
