I stepped away from the idea of "dooms day" about a year or two ago to concentrate on what I could do with the rest of my life.

What is worse to imagine, a long life of sickness and old age ahead or the thought of having only four more years until the earth explodes or burns to a crisp?

Both are possible, as the earth prepares for its crossing over the edge of the galactic equator on December 21, 2012, and Jupiter and Saturn are aligned in such a way (at that exact time) that solar flares could reach out and scorch the earth to a cinder.

Or we could cross over safely ~ and I could live another 40 years, maybe. (I would be 99 years old.) I would like to live that long and still be in good health.

So what does one do to prepare for either or both of these kinds of options. First, I would give up all fear, and live my life to the absolute fullest every single minute that is left of it.

After all, you may not have that long to enjoy this particular life and time is a such a precious commodity.

If you plan to live long, then I would still let go of fear and I would still live life to the fullest and do everything possible to maximize my life and energy, healing, positive thinking etc.

For what a waste to live any part of life in fear.

come on..it took all i had in me to get that much out

yellowrose,

Those sample questions were not necessarily meant to be answered by you on a public forum...

It is not I, nor anyone else, that you would have to help to understand why it is that you feel and think as you do. It is you who must recognize where and how you have learned your perceptive measure(s), and determine the validity of such by measuring your previous truthes against/with that which contradicts what you had once believed to be so, if you are able to...

Know the road you have traveled upon and understand why it was chosen...

In any given conceptual understanding, not just religion...

As soon as one understands that all are taught what they see, and why it is what it is, then only later could one be able to assess the validity of the original teachings' substance. It takes experience and/or exposure to that which contradicts or differs in some fashion to that which had been learned to be able to even consider this notion of thief teaching/ego/worldy fingerprint, or whatever else one wants to call that which removes and/or steals one from themself.

It is an endless campaign, as long as we have pet-peeves...

As long as things about others bother us and cause emotional disturbance(s)...

As long as we have buttons which are pushed...

As long as we do not recognize the who within us all...

As long as the need is present for one to wear an appropriate mask...

The purpose of life is to find that which is within us all... innately so.

Anything that removes one from what is so innately wonderful about one's self is not of, nor from a peaceful source nor existance...

It is all out there to be had... good, bad, indifferent...

Reach within and find what it is that we all search for at one time or another... hidden within ourselves is our understanding of who we are... and why...

Peace is only found within one's self...

Peace is only found within one's self...

Peace isn’t everything. I’ve always had peace within. That’s never been an issue for me. My cousins used to say that I’m the most laid-back person they know. Nothing ever seems to bother me.

I used to shrug my shoulders and say, “I have to be bothered by it before it can bother me”.

I don’t think they understood what I meant.

It’s like the ‘doomsday’ thing. If it came on the news that the world is going to end tomorrow everyone would be running around in a panic trying to figure out what to do.

I would just shrug my shoulders and say, “Ok that’s what we’re doing tomorrow. In the meantime what would you like to do today other than being panicked”

Why bother being panicked over something you have no control over?

Has anyone ever heard of acceptance?

I’ve always known peace, but peace isn’t everything.

I always say, “Peace without a piece is empty tranquility”

Peace may only be found within oneself, but if you want a piece of the action you’ll have to come out of your shell. laugh

Oh Lord, won’t you by me some mind-blowing sex. bigsmile

Well, seriously, if you think about it.

Imagine that you find the ultimate peace.

You sit around under a nice shade tree and meditate in a state of bliss.

How fulfilling is that going to be after a while?

Many of the world’s religions seem to preach this idea of ultimate detachment from things. Sins of the flesh, if you will. Like as if achieving inner peace is the ultimate goal.

In all honestly Michael, achieving inner peace has never been a problem for me. I’m not the kind of person who suffers from anxiety and never was. I don’t fret about the morrow. Yet I think that much of religion is aimed at this kind of abandonment of anxiety over worldly issues.

But once you’ve achieved the nirvana of inner peace, is that really the ultimate quest?

I think not. I think that’s a good place to start. But I’m not convinced that it would necessarily be a good place to end. I think there’s something to be said for indulging in the pleasures of life. Perhaps the inner peace needs to be found first before a person can truly enjoy what life has to offer. But the inner peace is not the ultimate goal in and of itself.

In fact, I don’t believe there is an ultimate goal in life other than to learn how to enjoy it. Period. Once you’ve learned that, you’ve reached your destination, there’s no need to seek any deeper spirituality beyond that.

Alan Watts brought that home for me in one of his books. He was speaking to the meaning of enlightenment and what it means. For some people it’s a sudden profound life-altering experience. For others, it’s a slow realization that they have actually always been enlightened and there’s not going to be any profound moment of enlightenment. Everyone doesn’t need to be born again some of us were born correctly the first time. bigsmile

Alan Watts speaks about people who get lost in the search for enlightenment until they end up sitting around meditating or pondering these issues until they become old withered-up fogies. The point being that they missed the point.

As Nike would say, “JUST DO IT!”.

Quit trying to ‘justify’ it via deep philosophical analytical meditation and just get out there and live the life that passing you by!

That’s the real gem of wisdom to learn right there.

Do I sense an uneasiness... bigsmile

If you do, just remember, that's your perception.

Thats your sight.

"All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree. All these aspirations are directed toward ennobling man's life, lifting it from the sphere of mere physical existence and leading the individual towards freedom."

You want to be one with God, and have peace forever?

I can't imagine anything more boring that that.

Well, let's not take 'piece' too literally, especially with respect to its slang meaning.

I'm actually referring to participation in the physical world in general.

I personally believe that there will be plenty of time to experience the spiritual world.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘peace’.

If you mean “Without war or hostilities”, the sure, peace is cool.

But if you’re speaking in terms of absolute tranquility then I’m not so sure

For example, you could be stranded on an island all by yourself and have total peace.

But would that necessarily be better than being on an island with people who are running around doing crazy things that you can interact with and experience new things?

If you lock someone in a small padded cell, would they find peace? It could certainly be tranquil. But would it represent ‘peace’.

They might find more ‘peace’ in the middle of a dance floor guzzling beer and smoking a joint.

So I suppose you need to define what you mean by ‘peace’.

After all, if what I mean by ‘piece’ is sharing deeply intimate and loving intimacy, that what I think of as ‘piece’ can actually represent ‘peace’ as well.

After all, sometimes the greatest sense of ‘peace’ comes in the calm after the storm, or the lull after the ecstasy. There’s some contrast there that gives ‘peace’ meaning.

If all you ever have is completely ‘peace’, and nothing else, then you might loose a sense of what ‘peace’ even means.

Peace is the last thing on my mind right now. Let me get a ‘piece’ first, then I’ll lay back and have some real ‘peace’. laugh

And don’t take that superficially. I’m not seeking a shallow ‘piece’. I’m looking for a deeply meaningful ‘piece’. A piece of emotional ecstasy that rips the spirit from the soul and hangs it out in the wind to be refreshed with the sunny rays of the holy spirit.

Ahhhh, what piece of peace that would be.

Peace:

The calm before the storm.

The eye of the hurricane.

The stillest day I ever experienced was a day when no birds flew or chirped, no insects in the air. Stillness like I had never seen before.

To the east the sky was blue and the sun was shining.
To the west, the darkest cloud I had ever seen in the sky above.

Looking down the street, the largest tornado I had ever seen had touched down and it looked like it was coming up the street.

There was no wind, no noise. So it was apparent that the tornado was miles away from our town. But it was so large it looked like it was less than ten blocks away.

It moved in silence to the north. People all over town watched in awe and took pictures of it.

I am very glad it passed us by, because it could have removed our entire little town from the map.

Peace is disengagement
from unwelcome stimulation
it’s nothing more than freedom
from unwanted trepidation

Everyone can be at peace
by simply being who they are
instead of wearing fingerprints
that make them act bizarre

Always be yourself
and trust you inner child
then everyone who meets you
will surely be beguiled

Cacophonic ecstasy
in the midst of incongruity
Syncopated harmony
without discontinuity

Every heart should be at peace
in the stormy seas of life
the secret to embracing it
is to emancipate your strife
