anyone who can possibly believe in a god that is responsible for centuries of innocent bloodletting should really do the rest of us a favor have a lobotomy.

Would someone please tell me what the difference between a debate and an argument is?

I am going to assume that a debate uses some sort of reason or logic or proof or believable example for statements made, hopefully one that might make some sort of sense to the person you are debating with. Facts are a good example, research, accepted authorities, etc.

Arguing, I am going to assume, degrades into insults, ridicule, personal attacks, yelling, etc. We all do it, so admit it.

If you make a statement, and you want it to be considered a debate, be prepared with something to back it up with.

If you are stating an opinion, be prepared to admit it is an opinion and not a globally accepted fact with proof to back it up. Just because you have thousands of people who agree with you, is not proof that it is a fact.

Those are the alien gods I am always talking about. They are not to be worshiped, or made sacrifices to. That is primitive behavior.

i have stated MANY times that it's just my belief

I pretty much argee with your definitions but i don't consider in topics like these for flat out judgement to be debate. in beliefs...you can't always have scientific proof. soemtimes it's only a feeling.

but arguing is also twisting what someone says just to argue

a debate is when someone agrees with your point of view and it automatically becomes an argument if the person then decide to disagrees with that point of view ...
