Haha, that would be nice! I imagine working at the gas station I'll meet quite a few of the locals, as well as people traveling from all over the world. happy

Yes, quite a few of the animals around here have been given names, kind of makes them part of the family. Only they're the kind that you admire from afar, not the ones you invite for dinner, lol.

I'd love to see the bears for sure!
But after that I'd quickly get in my car and drive all the way back to bear-free county, haha.
Hey, I'm Dutch! We don't have wild animals like that over here anymore.
Recently a few wolves returned, whole country is going nuts over a few wolves. Most wanting to kill them. And someone a-hole did, shot a pregnant wolf lady...
Maybe it's better such animals stay away from the Dutch. For the animals' sake.
At least you people are kind of used to it!

Haha, that was one of the reasons I came out here, for the wildlife. I remember being in Estes Park walking amongst the deer and elk, and seeing moose walk past my window. I missed that.

That's a shame some people want to destroy wildlife, we have that here as well. I believe it has a lot to do with where you live as far as whether you're used to it. Those who live in the city and suburbs are far less tolerant of wildlife than those who live in the mountain range areas and the country.

Meet 399 and her cubs... She and her cubs live in Grand Teton National Park. Colter Bay Village, where I work, and will soon be living, is part of her regular routes. Apparently she is famous worldwide, I've yet to see her but I imagine I will eventually once I move into the dorms over there. She was seen at the dorms last week, haha.

So far the only animals I've seen are a coyote sitting on a snow bank watching traffic go by, a fox that took a stroll across the parking lot at the gas station I work at, and George... a raven that lives at the park with his lady, he visited me while I was having lunch yesterday. Fortunately I had my windows up, so he didn't get into the car with me, but he jumped up on my hood and at least tried, haha.

Here's a cool article about 399 and her cubs if anyone is interested in reading about her...

Keep taking pictures... recovery footage for Revenant II.

Hi ThingamaBob, I didn't take the photo. But if I'm able to get some footage, thanks I'll check into that. drinker waving

I love chipmunks, they're so adorable. love laugh I asked a couple kids today if they saw any wildlife. One of the little girls was all excited about seeing a chipmunk, lol. Aside from that, they mostly saw elk and deer.

A couple other customers, an elderly couple, was held up in traffic from a herd of bison. surprised laugh They showed me the videos they took, one of them was of two bison bucking each other. It was definitely an awesome experience for them.

Inspired by your story, I just watched a couple of 'what to do when a bear attacks' clips. I now get why bear spray works -since we don't have bears here it was alien to me and I wondered how well it worked. Apparently it's way more effective than shooting even!
I've learnt new things today, haha. I like learning new things, so thanks for inspiring me!

Hi Blondey waving They certainly are, I'm very eager to see them one of these days. Yes, mama bear has her hands full. The cubs are around a year old, so she'll take care of them for another year or two. It's wonderful that all four cubs survived, statistically only about half survive the first year. Hopefully they will all make it until they are ready to set out on their own.

You're welcome Crystal flowerforyou, I'm happy I inspired you to do so. I'm reading more about the grizzly, they are a very cool species. I want to learn more about all the wildlife here, it will give me a better understanding of their ways and help form a better connection... from afar, haha. More of a healthy respect for their personal space in case I do eventually encounter one. I really believe it's possible to coexist with wildlife, as long as you respect their space and don't cause them to feel threatened. To form a connection... from afar, haha.

When I shared space with bees a while back, I learned with hornets, I could share space as long as there was about three feet between us. Any closer and they started getting nervous. With the honey/bumble bees, I was about to walk through the field with them buzzing around me and never got stung. With the snake, a non-poisonous one, it was about two feet... that particular snake came to me and just hung out for five or ten minutes. I let it decide how close we got and just communed with it's energy.

Hmmm, I'm getting all excited talking about this... maybe doing something that involves wildlife is my true calling. love Something to consider and think about.

Thanks Crystal!

I agree with you, about peaceful co-existence being possible! We just need to learn what they do and require and respect that.

Bees and bumblebees I'm okay with as well. Snakes, eeeww... I'm SO glad I never saw a snake in Australia! I'm not used to snakes, we don't really have many here anymore. There are places where you could encounter an adder or a grass snake, but rarely happens, or maybe most don't see it. Adders have become rare in our country.
My English friend -who's crazy nuts about snakes and slithering things- told me I could have a grass snake in my garden. Great! Thanks for telling me! I'm so happy! grumble

Cool that I inspired you in turn! We seem to have that effect on each other, hihi.
Lord knows what you get into! I'm happy you're enjoying yourself, and the wildlife.
