I'm going to quit smoking. My nicotine plasters arrived this afternoon. But I'm not going to go there this weekend. Monday.
My girl quit with these plasters, her partner, and his mother who smoked like a chimney.
So I hope I'm going to be successful as well! I do find it quite the OMG thing to be honest. I don't want to put on weight. I was just working on losing a few kilos. But yeah... I also want to quit smoking.

Anyone else here who's successfully quit using these nicotine plasters?

Would you consider using the spray instead? From my experience, sublingual spray is more effective.

dagnabit soufie ya beat me to it.

the patch will do really well breaking the nicotine addiction
just remember to watch out for the physical addiction.
to this day the one cigarette that can most likely cause my mom to fall off the wagon is the one she use to have with her coffee right after dinner

this is what i have seen work the best at aiding in quitting once and for all...

basically it breaks up your physical patterns as well as weening you off the nicotine

When I gave up tobacco a few years ago, I went cold turkey but I'm sure that patches are probably better. You won't regret it though .

No idea. I was told last week by my girl about these plasters and that as of this year health insurance covers the cost of 'em as they want people to quit. Provided you do coaching with it. That boils down to a phone call which I already had. But if needed I can of course phone the woman again.
I contacted my GP right away to have them ordered when I knew about it :)

Thank you, Eric! blushing

I think and hope I'll be fine with the patches. I start with the high dose for a month as I smoke a lot. Then after that it will be reduced, third month reduced again.
So yeah, the nicotine is taken care of. It's up to me to do the rest, the habitual addiction.
She said that you can be more short of breath the first 2 weeks surprised I've not had that one before tbh.
Wait and see!

I did too a few years ago, then started again after a week. Really stupid as I'd just gone through these first 3 days of feeling utterly chit because of lack of nicotine. I was just over that, then started again.
Having to go through some 3 days of feeling like a zombie is one of the things that kept me from doing it again. I hope and expect it will go much easier in that sense with these patches.

Not sure about the regulations in the Netherlands, but I would consult my GP anyway. Just in case you take any other medications.

Thank you, Delightful! I hope so too!
A small part of me doesn't want to quit, but I really have to for my health. And I do look forward to be able to breathe better, no more coughing, and... no more yukkie nicotine stuff on my crystals, books etc. No more smelling of smoke...
And more money. Since the price of tobacco went up by quite a lot per packet a few months back I blow away a helluva lot in a month. Totally insane.
Plenty of reasons! Most important one for me is my health.

Yeah, I get that. I gave up a few times in the past and did so with no bother. I used to be a very heavy smoker too but I never smoked in the house. I still smoke but a packet of 20 (nearly Β£10) lasts me about a week. A lot of people didn’t even know I smoked and my hairdresser found out after 10 yrs of cutting my hair lol.

Again, hope you’re successful flowerforyou

Oh, that is okay then. If I could do that I wouldn't be troubled by it either. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way for me.

I used the patches when I left Florida to do seasonal work. Patches and the lozenges. I liked the patches because it keep an even flow of a lower dose of nicotine in me. That helped quite a bit with cravings, I had very few, other than the association cravings, like when I drank coffee and after meals.

I stayed off cigarettes for a year, so between the patches and my own determination/commitment, it was successful. I did start again exactly one year later and still smoke, but I know if I decide again to quit and I seriously want to stop, the patches will be the way to do it.

Congratulations and best wishes to you! flowerforyou

Thanks you!
So you were also successful because of the patches! I had to Google lozenges. I take it especially to quit smoking or just some tablet things to have something in your mouth?

The positive first few words suggest you are serious
I did 100 a day at one time , I tried all sorts to stop ,one evening a good friend of mine and a similar heavy smoker of just 48 had a fatal heart attack in front of my eyes, it shook me up and made me think a lot ,I never had another one after that ,I had thousands at home from Spanish holidays , I sold the lot , Ten years after a similar thing happened with alcohol,we all know both are no good for you ,bigsmile

Good luck, I am sure you can. If having trouble quiting? Try reducing a little bit and than more and more, go slow.
