You can do it!

Thank you!!
Votes of confidence do help, hihi.

OT - I like the advantage of things in my home not getting yukkie anymore :D
I still have my cute new Tomtes (Swedish gnomes) out on the table, the ones I posted a photo of yesterday elsewhere.
Normally I would've taken them upstairs already till Christmas due to the nicotine smell (they're entirely fabric and stuffing). But now I can leave them out a little longer and enjoy their cuteness
I'm also cleaning crystals one by one with water and a tea-towel. They won't get yukky anymore either now. Just dust, nothing more.
I cleaned my golden calcite and it SO shiny and sparkly again love
I'm loving this!

Oh yes I remember those days washing my bathroom walls ( that was the only place I smoked in my house), the cleaning rag would be all yellow from the nicotine. Don't miss that at all. Stay strong!

It can be wiped off tiles and you can even replace them , lungs are a different story

Yep, the cough I used to have -and that was getting really bad- has gone, already did somewhere during the first week. So that was really fast as they say it takes about 1 month for that to happen :)
I'm very happy about it!
And the dead fish taste in your mouth in the morning when you're a smoker... that's gone too!

Today I had this thing... I had gone out for the afternoon to the crystal shop, which is several hours total... and I kept having trouble not thinking about smoking. That was while on the way over. Then I remembered I'd forgotten to put on my new patch.
Clearly I still do need that! I put it on as soon as I got home, which was at 5pm.

@ Ibaceltic, sorry I missed your posting! And yes, walls, books, crystals, ceiling, etc etc all gets yellow & yukkie. Window washing is going to be SO much nicer, hahaha.

OT - Today starting week 5 of not smoking!
Week 3 I had great difficulty and I even ended up buying a packet of tobacco. I smoked a little bit -just a few puffs at the time, never an entire ciggie- during 3 days. Then I got fed up, decided I simply didn't want it anymore and threw out the tobacco in the rolling bin, poured half a litre of vinegar over it (also to kill some flies in there).

I haven't smoked since and doing well.
Today I've started with step 2, meaning less strong nicotine patches. I can put 1,5 on if I want and if I feel I need it since I had such a hard time in the 3rd week.
So far it feels okay with just the lighter patch.

It really feels like it was a decision from where there's no going back: even when I smoked a bit, I really didn't like the taste of it at all.
So if I -hypothetically speaking- wanted to smoke again, I'd have to get over that part where it's effing horrible.
Kind of funny some people do that to themselves? Why force yourself to do something that tastes god awful?
I hope I won't be one of these people, as I do understand that is the addiction part of it.
But weird when you think of it.

Anywho, 4 weeks under the belt! I still call them 'smoke-free weeks' as what little I did smoke, these few puffs, don't count. What DOES count is that I was strong enough to yet again decide "I do not want this chit!", dump it and walk away. And feel good about that too :D
My quit-smoking-coach via GP was also very impressed :)

Oh, and last time I weighed myself -last week- I had NOT put on weight at all!!
Fingers crossed.
My osteopath was surprised, and proud of me- as usually people who've quit 4 week have already gained 3-4kg.

Thank you Ibaceltic!!
It is still kind weird to now see myself as a non-smoker as I've been smoking from when I was 14 yrs old! Not nearly as much as at first as I smoked in the end of course.
But it does mean I've been a smoker for my entire adult life with the exception of 3 yrs in my early 30s.
And now -since 4 weeks- I'm suddenly a non-smoking adult.

But it's cool! No need to worry about having enough tobacco and cigarette paper and lighters in stock etc etc.

Today 5 weeks of not smoking.
It remains difficult at times. I went to step 2 patches, so less nicotine, and dang could I tell!!
This afternoon I've had a number of serious GRRRRRRRRRRR and F this chit!! moments, haha.
But, I'm still a quitter. YAY! Damned if I'm gonna go give up on my dream to go to Scotland by starting smoking again. I'd literally see that dream go up in smoke.
And I know it'll taste horrible anyway, it's just that in my head it would be SOOOO great to light a cig and fill my lungs with delicious smoke.
Uche uche uche... how can I even think delicious, but that's what my brain thinks, haha.

I'm so proud of myself for not giving up and not giving in. I hadn't thought I'd be this strong. I also hadn't thought it to be this bloody difficult, hihi.
But I also am still happy I've quit. The yellow yuk that came off my windows the other day when I washed them... Shocking!
I won't have that anymore now! *happy smile*

Also not put on weight :)

I was looking at things in Scotland again, what there's to do in the Inverness area. Came across a historical village where you can see how they used to live, dress etc. The site said, "Language: Gaelic, German"?
WTF??? German??? What happened to English? Lol And who the hell speaks German apart from Germans? I'd sooner speak Gaelic. Madainn mhath. Ciamar a tha thu. Okay, I'll have to seriously brush up on it, grin.

You go girl! Maybe stick with the stronger patch for a while. We once had a resident who was a heavy smoker for years and years , her doctor kept her on phase 1 patch for a year, she also was bi polar and about every 6 weeks would go into a manic episode that usually lasted about 2/3 days but she never once asked for a cig. Stay strong! When I last quit 10 years ago at first I kept telling myself how bad it would taste to start up again, trust me it gets easier as time goes by.

@ Thanks Ibaceltic! This week I'm using the Step 1 patch still as last week I used the Step 2 and had a really hard time.
Next week I will try the Step 2's.

OT - Currently 6,5 weeks in, and it still is difficult at times.
But... this is really good news to me: I lost 1 kilo!!!!
So it is entirely possible to quit without weight gain! Normally women put on 4-5 kilos during the first weeks (men 3-4 kilos). I did NOT put on weight, and now I LOST a kilo?!?!!!
This inspires me SO much on my quitting journey!!

Yes, I'm doing enough for it. My daily walks, 3-4x a week my 1-mile walk, and... what I'm now labelling as 'my magickal tea' before bed. I do believe it works well and is big part of this all, although moving more certainly will help too of course.
But this tea... part of it is apple cider with mother which is well-known to help with weight loss.
I am getting a bit fed up with making it each night (squeeze half a lemon, measure all ingredients with this spoon and that) but if it works...
And since I did not put on 5 kilos, and now even lost 1 kilo, I think it's safe to say it does work!

Now it's hanging in there. Maybe I can lose another kilo in a few weeks time? Then I'm slowly getting back to where I want to go. And not putting on weight helps me to not smoke as well! Because this weight thing is what I feared most, like many smokers.

Fingers crossed...

That's great news! I didn't pack on the pounds either when I quit but I told myself when I quit what's worse ? Putting on some weight that you can lose or lung cancer? I've read about apple cider for weight loss , heard it's good for other things as well. Stay strong!
