Topic: God is NOT a loving god. | |

God always was. And you know there is a devil. God created man or you would not be here. God gives us free will and God talks about the wick people. God didn't take those little childrens life. The wicked people did. But you can believe those chldren will have everlasting life. And yes the second they quit breathing they were with God

two thoughts are inspired from the op the first is that people get hung up on God being 'loving', only with their worldly mortal idea of love,, and they forget the part about him also being 'just' the second is that it seems to me it would be easier and more desirable for a God not to exist, for it would mean anything we can 'get away with' in the flesh we would do with no respect of consequence,,, First in reply to Winlei. Movies are scripted, but that particular movie was based on a true story and as much as it was aimed at entertainment value, it was also aimed to open people's eyes to the everyday realities that those of us that live in first world countries rarely or never hear of. As gruesome as the event from the movie that I described was, it does happen in reality. One cannot simply wear rose colored sunglasses and expect the world to change. In reply to msharmony's first point. Would you consider the deaths and murders of innocent children to be "just"? No matter how you describe his state of being, it comes down to a simple standing of right vs wrong. If a man whom is bulletproof stands there from start to finish watching another man shoot and kill someone then is he not just as guilty as the one that pulled the trigger? I would have to at least partially disagree with your second point. While it has always been my personal belief that if a god did not exist then the world would(likely)be ripe with chaos for the reason you mentioned. I certainly don't think in the least that it would be easier and more desirable for a god not to exist. For starters, people are not designed to be self sustaining. I've seen even the worst of people often go to their peers to ask for advice. We crumble without the wisdom and guidance of other people. My point being that it's 100% easier for us to follow a path laid out for us by a "god" than to thread our own path. When people do walk their own path they often end up lost and that's when they end up defaulting back to the god path. Our race is young and still learning, perhaps some of us still need the god-crutch. but as psychology and understanding of the human mind advances, eventually we'll all learn to walk our own path. One not paved with slavery, prejudice, war and murder(All things promoted and condoned by organized religion). If a cult murdered a few dozen people that didn't follow their practices, would you follow that cult? How about a religion that murdered over 100 million people for not following their beliefs? Because the majority of Americans and Canadians already are, that religion is called Christianity. Now I'm not here to bash one religion in particular. I think most of them have committed their fair share of crimes. But Christianity really tops the cake. From be-headings of pagans(non-believers)to witch hunts(burning people at the stake)to all out wars and genocides all in the name of Christianity. And when Columbus "founded" America he slaved away the native settlers and had them converted from non-religious to Christianity. So it's a religion that's been forced upon Americans from day one, and now we brainwash our kids with it. Again I'm not saying Christianity is the worst religion by any means, I'm only using it as my primary example as it best fits my point. |

I know from experience god doesn't have feelings like we do. I would never allow my son to be raped and just stand there watching - and that's what god did by letting me be abused by men in my family when I was a child. God lets the most horrible things happen to me, and I have no family , no friends , and no wife or girlfriend . I will likely never have anything, and that doesn't concern god. He is real, I believe that, but he is cold .

I'm not saying I believe in the existence of a god, because I don't. I'm mostly posting here because the atheist forums are practically dead, which I don't really understand. Over 200k posts in religion and 1k in atheist forums. How do so many people in the age of logic and reason still believe in the existence of a god? It is written in the bible that god is a loving god, god is a forgiving god, blah blah. But in practice, god is a vindictive god, god is a childish god and god is a cruel god. The whole story about Noah's ark is basically a story about a god that got mad, threw a childish temper tantrum and killed everyone on the planet save a boatload of people and animals. Does that really seem like an all knowing god of great wisdom to anyone? If anyone has seen the movie "machine gun preacher". There's a movie based on the real life of Sam Childers, a biker that found religion after he thought he killed a man then traveling to Africa and helping to save a bunch of children from a corrupt warlord. On to my point. In the movie(based on real life) you see a bunch of children in a pile that were torched to death because they tried to escape. Was that all part of gods plan, did god "love" these children in their final minutes as they were brutally burned to death and screaming? Seems like a damned sadistic god to me. Basically what I'm saying is that if god does exist, he's pretty much using us as lab rats in his psychological experiment. All of the good stuff and "miracles" that he's let happen really do pale in comparison to all the atrocities that he's turned a blind eye to all in favor of fulfilling his "divine plan". In my honest opinion the novelty of "god" died off in the 20th century. I think that many of us are smart enough to come to the realization that the invention of a god in inevitable because we all fear death and therefore invent the prospect of an afterlife, and who would be powerful enough to design such a thing? "God" and only that. But all that is self defeating, instead of confronting our fear of death and helping to seek a method of prolonging our lives through science, we run to religion which has a long standing history of stifling science. Many people will argue the existence of a god because they feel that they've seen him in one manner or another. His face is on a door, his face was on a grilled cheese sandwich or the classic "I see it in the miracles that happen every day". Such as what? Newborn life? Every time a baby is born it's a "miracle". Well what about those born into third world countries that starve to death before they're old enough to read or what about those born into overpopulous that struggle through their entire life just trying to make ends meet(because it's a rat race just to get a job)then ultimately succumb to suicide. Was there really a point in either of those being born just to live a life of pain and suffering with no chance for a happy ending? Or perhaps people will argue the "miracles" of rain or the sun coming up each day. Nope, the sun is a giant ball of gas and the rain is just precipitation. God exists because like an imaginary friend when we have no other, we want him to exist and if we stop believing, he will not exist. For someone who don't believe sure writes a.lot about the topic I wonder? Have you tried having a personal relationship with him? |

Someone said to me years ago don't blame God for what man chooses to do .man was given a free will. They will pay for what they have done to you. I know that for sure because I have seen it and I am still seeing it. What ever you sow you will reap a hundred fold. Take care my friend |

JESUS CHRIST knows all we will go through in this world and HE says in the book of John 16:33. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. |

Just look at it like this there are those who need the "father like" figure in their world to feel safe and told what to do and there are those who do not (atheists). It works for them whether it is real or not so they won't let it go.

I personally believe God exists. Believers will lose nothing and they get His love and assistants. Disbelievers will get nothing and lose His love, getting harsh punishment instead.
Quran 31; But if any reject the Faith, let not his rejection grieve you: for to Us they shall return, and We shall tell them the truth about their deeds: for God knows well all that is in the human hearts -- (23) We shall let them enjoy themselves for a little while, but then We shall drive them to a harsh punishment. (24) Quran 10: Say, Those who invent falsehoods about God shall not prosper. (69) Their portion is short-lived enjoyment in this world; but to Us they shall return. Then We shall make them taste a severe punishment, because of their denial of truth. (70) Bible;Revelation 21:8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death. |

God exists because like an imaginary friend when we have no other, we want him to exist and if we stop believing, he will not exist. You may be right. But, you might also be wrong. I'm not particularly religious, either, but I'll reply like this... What came before the Big Bang? Can science answer that right now? How about you? If you can definitely answer without any shadow of doubt or uncertainty what exactly came prior to the Big Bang, then you don't need God. In effect YOU are "God" if you can answer my question truthfully. But, I am a somewhat avid follower of science, and I can tell you that science today is not any closer to solving what, if anything, existed before the Big Bang. So, I still like to think of a "God" that transcends everything, even time, as being the "ultimate Source" of all that is, however loving or not He happens to be. In fairness and respect, I ask the same sorts of questions you ask here. I don't much believe in "miracles" either, but I'm "Agnostic". I may not believe at first, but I question. I "Test ALL things and hold fast to what's true and righteous", to quote the Bible just once. And in questioning, I try to find my "truth" in life and the results have been fascinating and sometimes unexpected. So, I keep myself open to possibilities without committing myself completely to one religion or another. I don't know what "love" is because I don't have anyone "loving" me, physically nor emotionally. So I question its reality. I haven't had any "miracle" happen to me, but there are so many examples of things that happen that I'd be completely stumped by how they happen without explanation. My personal view of "God" is that of an energetic force-being that takes no physical form, is bound by neither physics nor time and probably can't see or hear us, no matter how hard one might pray to it/him/her. I think of our "relationship" to this "God" as being much like our "relationship" to microbes. To "God" we are microbes and he can't any more see us than we can see Botulinus, though we have the advantage of the microscope. I don't know whether "God" can do that. So, is "God" loving? I can't exactly say, though given my handful of proof, I'd assume not. I can't really fall in love with an amoeba or a yeast cell, so maybe "God" can't really love us for similar reasons. But, I would not yet write off "His/Her/Its" existence altogether until science can definitely tell me what came before the Big Bang, how it came to be and where, when and how it will all end. |

I am compelled to comment in this forum. My understanding is there is such a thing as pure love and perfection that has no beginning and no end. Everything else does have a beginning and therefore was created by that which always was. The pure love allowed it's creations to be individual beings capable of making it's own decisions whether good or bad and each decision affects other beings thus setting forth great shock waves and chain reactions throughout humanity. The first to choose against the creator started this reaction. I must add that other spiritual beings created chose to revolt against the creator first and were banished from the creator and did participate in tempting the first humans to choose to break the creators pact with them whom he had given all to. The creator became as his creations in flesh yet still unblemished in spirit and allowed his creations to inflict him with the punishment of all their infractions, dying for us all that we might be born anew without the blemish of that first sin which set off that great chain reaction of sin throughout history even now and tomorrow that if we confess and although imperfect follow his example of perfection, recognize our errors and confess and try, try again that by his grace and through his holy perfect love in his holy spirit we will be washed clean of our sin and though we die we will join him and live eternally with him. I as you can tell am no theologian but this is how I comprehend what I have read, been taught and have heard in regards to my faith, science and common sense. I believe there is no conflict between evolution and creation but science doesn't have all the answers, just theories that may be in many cases half truths, near truths and close falsities with the real truth being very close or totally different. But faith doesn't require exact scientific detail but knowledge, common sense, history and faith. It's more irrational to me to believe that something like the universe the planet and life could be random without any great intelligence or superior spiritual power behind it. How do you answer the question what was before everything that ever was not?

I guess the issue of God being a loving God or not depends entirely on what we believe is the most important aspect of ourselves our physical bodiea or our spiritual beings.
Consider this, a tribal mother refuses to give her child food enough food to satisfy him...he's young losing weight...he sees his mother as vindictive and cruel and why oh why is she allowing him to hunger she can't possibly love him because look what she's doing to him. However what the child doesn't know is that their tribe is at war with a neighboring cannibalistic tribe. .that she fears their tribe will lose and its customary for the victors to come and take the healthiest male child....and she's determined not to allow that happen to her son. ...what seems like an awful thing to do to her child is done out of love to protect him from an even worse fate. perhaps what God has allowed to happen to you is necessary I order to save your soul from a fate that we can't even fathom...because we are not mature enough to fully understand |
