It is a good idea to learn as much as possible about hypnotism and how it works. When you do, you will see it being used everywhere, everyday in your daily life. I must be confused.. I see you saying Hypnotism is worse than religion. Then u say it is useful. Yet religion I suppose is like a scapegoat. By doing this we are told the forces of the world will not enter our minds. Yes Tv ect on here. are all HUMANS are trying to plant in our minds that our faith is non sence. Another 2000 year old prophecy come to light. YES! This "warning" is their protection to get the believer to reject other information and other beliefs. This is done to keep you hypnotized. They don't want you to pay any attention to anyone else's information. The thing is, if you don't consider all information... YOU WILL NEVER FIND THE TRUTH. And if you only look at and belief from once single source, you will reject knowledge and truth from all other sources. This is what hypnotists do too. No, you proved my point. The scriptures told you exactly what they needed to tell you to convince you that you should keep your mind closed and not look at anything but them. That is hypnotism. And what did it do? It confirms your belief to you because it appears that I am trying to get you to deny your God. They know what they are doing and they know how to keep you hypnotized. All I am doing it trying to tell you to look around and come out of the trance they have you in. You are still mesmerized by them and you will not look at anything but them and so you are hypnotized and in a trance. That is exactly how hypnotism works. Knowing this, you are still in a trance. That is how powerful belief and hypnotism is. |

Therefore, if you study hypnotism and cults and how they work, you will see that your own religion IS A CULT and that it is using and has been using hypnotism on people to manipulate what they believe.
But if you don't know how this works, you will never come out of your trance. |

Jean, I gotta stop you there. Are you sure that YOU know what hypnotism is? Unless you're referring to brainwashing(which plays a very large part in religion) then I think you may be thinking more about psychology than hypnotism. Psychology is used passively in everyday life as a form of altering what people think though such methods as neuro linguistic programing. Hypnotism is when someone sits you in a chair and luls you into a trance using a swaying watch or some-such and then feeds you suggestions.
I'm not even sure how much I actually believe hypnotism even works; I don't believe in hypnotism in the sense you see on tv, like the guy snaps his fingers and the other guy starts cluckin like a chicken, that just seems setup to me. Then there's brainwashing which is when someone takes a naive easily manipulated mind, perhaps one of a child or just someone that feels spiritually lost in this world and feeds them a bunch of religious mumbo jumbo to which they cling onto and believe in unconditionally because it's easy/convenient to do so or because they still believe in(or want to believe in)magic and fairy tails and it to them makes more sense than a reality in which life is boring, redundant, chaotic, sad, empty .etc. I really do hate to link religion to psychology in any way as one makes sense and the other does not, but psychology is a part of everyday life and does best to explain why we fall for such deceptions as religion despite not believing in equally silly things like the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. |

NLP was developed from study three therapist who were actually successful in therapy- Virginia Satir; Fritz Perls and of course, the great hypnotist Milton Erickson It is still a form of what has been called "hypnotism" although that word itself has gotten a really bad rap and a lot of people associate it with negative ideas about people clucking like a chicken... NLP and hypnotism are the same thing by different names. Both are used for successful therapy. I am not trying to say that any of it is "evil" or bad. They all use similar and many varied techniques for many different purposes. |

Even if NLP is a form of hypnotism, I believe it would all fall under the blanket of psychology. In-fact where I first read about NLP was from a library book on psychology. Psychology is the study of the workings of the human mind, so manipulating the way people think is just a form of psychology. Funny, actually the first place I learned about NLP(although they didn't call it that where I learned it) was when I was being trained to do door to door sales for a furnace/AC company. Basically speaking it's used to make people think they need something that they don't(IE: Religion).
But I don't think you give psychology nearly enough credit. Sure it's got a ways to go but it has made leaps and bounds in discovering why/how we think the way we do. Also it must be remembered that there's multiple types of psychology, the typical type in which the human mind is deciphered on a cognitive level, then the type in which we try to figure out the brain on a physical level. The second type is often overlooked as being a part of psychology. Granted I'm not a psychology major but I have looked into it a bit and I do know more than the average person on the subject. |

Even if NLP is a form of hypnotism, I believe it would all fall under the blanket of psychology. In-fact where I first read about NLP was from a library book on psychology. Psychology is the study of the workings of the human mind, so manipulating the way people think is just a form of psychology. Funny, actually the first place I learned about NLP(although they didn't call it that where I learned it) was when I was being trained to do door to door sales for a furnace/AC company. Basically speaking it's used to make people think they need something that they don't(IE: Religion). But I don't think you give psychology nearly enough credit. I have nothing against psychology but it has very clear boundaries that it (usually) will not cross. I am sure all three terms could easily fade into each other in their practice. NLP = programming the brain. Its seems pretty specific. The NLP practice of convincing someone they need something that they do not really need (in sales) is unethical. Using it to get laid is also unethical. A lot of pick-up artists practice it. Using it to improve your own life or health, or helping others get over phobia's etc. is a positive use of it. The placebo effect actually can cure a person, and power of belief (and thought) is still unclear and not acknowledged to its full potential by some scientists. People in marketing know more about it than people in medicine or government. Government is just recently catching on. |

Atheist forums are dead because many atheists realize that there's no point in talking to most religious folk. Educated theists and deists are exceptions to the rule. |
