There are always obstacles.
Some are in your mind.
Others are logistical.
I would let none of them stand in my way.

well, what i learned is if you meet someone online, go see them right away. Sometimes it feels like you're scanning through a sear's magazine to find somebody, but don't waste 6 months like i did, just go as soon as you can..if all fails, at least you got to see some country. have a sense of adventure, time is the enemy.

How true and sometimes, it is best to just throw caution to the winds and go. I did 3 times; each to a new country and half way around the world and once for a coffee date to a country next door which ended in a quick cab ride back to the train station and back home. I really did not appreciate after a few months of emails, etc. to meet and she announces that she is pregnant and in need of an abortion...like wtf!?
Of well but as nothing lasts forever, I got a chance to live in some strange places...and so far, ended up here. If there is ever a next time, I can only hope it will be very far south of the border, like back to South America. I'm tired of the cold.

We connect with some pretty awesome folks here on Mingle… knowing that platonic friendships can be closer and last longer than some personal relationships, we’re here also seeking out souls just to bond with as friends… and once we do, how far are we willing to go to meet in person?

I have an 80pd male dog that I can’t leave at home while I’m gone, so if I traveled to meet a new friend, I’d have to bring Hammer with me… also, if my new friend lived across the country, because of my deteriorated spinal condition, I can only drive about 8 hrs at a stretch before I’d have to stop and get a room to rest… but, I would drive my car and pay for our expenses to make the round trip…

To what extent would you go too, if you really wanted to meet and spend time with a new acquaintance?

Everyone I've met from here has been out of state. The farthest was California. Traveling is fun. I enjoy it. If I have the chance to meet someone along the way, awesome.

Gas aint cheap.
And neither are plane tickets.
It's not like I can't hop in a car or plane to go meet the other person, but I'm tired of being the one that makes the effort all the time.

The way I see it, going across states lines just for the purpose of meeting someone to me, is like asking me to give up one of my limbs. Did it in the past, but I'm not going to do it anymore.

Prince Charming better bring his butt over to where I'm at for a change if he wants to see where it's going to go.

No. I'm the selfish one.
