It's supposed to be a safe haven for Jews when the rest of the world becomes hostile to them. Israel is safer for Jews than many countries around the world. There are countries (like Saudi Arabia) where there isn't a single synagogue. They were all closed down and the few Jews living there are second class citizens. Israel will be there when other countries turn Jews away, that is why it must exist.

So why do you think people are hostile towards Jews?

People love a boogie man or a scape goat. Jews have been used for both for the past 2000 years. You guys might have a point about Israel generating hate for Jews, if it wasn't for the tiny problem of Jew hatred prior to Zionism and prior to the birth of Israel.

The Jewish population in Iran is 1/4 of what it was during WWII. Once again, it's important to see how people vote with their feet. Given normal birth rates, it's safe to assume more than 3/4 of the Jews in Iran have left since 1948. This would prompt the curious mind to wonder why.
