A classic, elegant, simple AMERICAN solution to a problem created by foreign MUSLIM instigators who wanted to build their VICTORY TOWER on the site of 9/11 ... The UNION workers are saying 'NO' ... if there's no one to build it, it ain't goin' up ... Good on ya, bros ...

They won't build it!
Hardhats vow not to work on controversial mosque near Ground Zero

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero.

"It's a very touchy thing because they want to do this on sacred ground," said Dave Kaiser, 38, a blaster who is working to rebuild the World Trade Center site.

"I wouldn't work there, especially after I found out about what the imam said about U.S. policy being responsible for 9/11," Kaiser said.

The grass-roots movement is gaining momentum on the Internet. One construction worker created the "Hard Hat Pledge" on his blog and asked others to vow not to work on the project if it stays on Park Place.

"Thousands of people are signing up from all over the country," said creator Andy Sullivan, a construction worker from Brooklyn. "People who sell glass, steel, lumber, insurance. They are all refusing to do work if they build there."

"Hopefully, this will be a tool to get them to move it," he said. "I got a problem with this ostentatious building looming over Ground Zero."

A planned 13-story community center and mosque two blocks from Ground Zero, Park51 has exploded into a national debate.
Louis Coletti, president of the Building Trades Employers' Association, said unions have not yet taken a "formal position" on Park51, but he understands why members would be hesitant to work there.

"It's a very difficult dilemma for the contractors and the organized labor force because we are experiencing such high levels of unemployment," he said. "Yet at the same time, this is a very sacred site to the union guys."

"There were construction workers killed on 9/11 and many more who got horribly sick cleaning up Ground Zero," Coletti said. "It's very emotional."

this is one thing that kills me about some 9/11 conspiracy theorists and american patriots,,,,,,this victim comparison that causes them to believe THEIR Dead loved ones are any more 'sacred' than anyone elses.

everyone has people they love, and mourn in death

so all the muslims who are dead are dead because they were fighting? seriously?

the western prop machine is just as bad as the middle eastern one and noone can be convinced that a killer of innocent lives has blood on their hands regardless of the region they live in

I think the key point here is:

"I wouldn't work there, especially after I found out about what the imam said about U.S. policy being responsible for 9/11," Kaiser said.

Such statements show callous disregard for the truth and for the
emotions of those who died at the hands of the terrorists.

I do agree with some of that harmony...Yes westerners can be just as evil, crooked, and ruthless as anyone. Yes we have crooks and criminals...but we have our eye on ours..theirs are running rampant. And say what you want about muslims...but fact is fact....their bible or koran says death to the infidels....which is us...read it. And most important mam...our criminals don't drive planes in to their buildings...or strap tnt to ourselves and kill people. And lets not forget, we don't broadcast us murdering people on the net. I understand full well the ethnic differences and all of that, but I just feel like the line of diplomacy has been crossed. We are quite simply pandering to them at this point. As I have said before, it isn't the mosque being built that bothers me....it is ONLY the location. It defies the very fibre in which YOUR country was built. Yes they have a right to their way of life....but in their land. When we go there we must obey their laws and rituals....when here they rape our land. They take advantage of your American Constitution. Freedom of religious expression I believe??? The next question you must ask yourself is how many of these people are actually citizens of the U.S? In Canada, our Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Canada's version of a Constitution) applies only to Canadian citizens. If you are not a Canadian certain things don't apply to you. But we still give these people free health care....explain to me how this is fair.

why does it HAVE to be there?????why not six blocks away? new york is a big city, there is nowhere in the entire city to build it? the damn governor is trying to give land to build on and they say no...
your always talking of tolerance and such, where is the muslim tolerance?

Personally I can understand that 2 blocks away feels close.
I suggested in another thread maybe relocating a mile or two
would not offend.

But if the organizer is really saying such nonsense about the
victims being responsible for the attacks then I doubt anyone
would want to give him a forum anywhere for that BS.
