Do you ever wonder why it's so hard to meet someone you'd like to date? Of course you do we all do.. Do you think it's distance? I used to, I don't anymore... Do we set our criteria/expectations to high? Anyone mentions nice guys/girls as a reason gets shot by the firing squad... Oh and let's concentrate on the POSITIVE not the "women suck or men suck" b/c that's bullsh*t! I firmly believe that people simply set their criteria much higher than can be reasonably expected. Thanks to Hollywood ( not to mention quite a few posts around dating sites like this one ) people have been told to " never settle " for anyone who isn't " perfect " for them. I would think that when looking through the rose colored glasses people are so fond of that the " perfect " someone just may be out there. But for those who are grounded in reality, the idea of the " perfect " person for you, me, whatever, simply isn't a reality. For instance, I like a WIDE variety of music. From some classical, to horror punk. Being that scattered in what I listen to makes the likelihood of finding someone who likes exactly the same kind of music ( " perfect " for me ) very slim. I have stopped looking for some that is " perfect " for me in every way, and am now just looking for someone who can take me as I am and feel that I am good enough. I'm not saying that it's a deal breaker, Gypsy. It never has been for me. Although it actually has been for a couple of women I have met. They just couldn't deal with the stuff I listen to. All I am saying is that the ideal of a " perfect one " for everyone is nothing more than a fairy tale. People want what they want. I totally understand that. But, when you set the standards so high that there isn't much chance of anyone ever being able to meet them, then it becomes hiding from the reality of the world rather than actually looking for someone that will love you in the way you deserve. Even if they aren't that " perfect " person. I understand that too. The problem is that there are a whole lot of people passing up on a whole lot of other very good people just because there might be one or two minor things " off " about them that make them not perfect for them. As my screen name indicates, I am not anyone's idea of Prince Charming. I am just a guy. I'm not now, nor have I ever been, anyone's idea of " perfect for " them. But I am a damn good man. But because I'm not " perfect " for anyone so far, being a good man means f**k all. |

I could always move to California....lmao There is a whole state full of people here in Michigan that would beg to differ about that. Remember, our state's economy was almost entirely based on the auto industry. That's definitely true... but Cali is a CLOSE third behind Vermont. And yeah- it IS getting really hard hit in this recession. I have no doubt that it's getting hit hard out there. I just know what it's like to live here right now. It isn't pretty. And thanks to the GM bankruptcy, we are about to lose 14 thousand MORE jobs. |

We've been hit hard.. It's hard affording to live here even before that... Got THAT right. And you just HAVE to wonder why, with L.A. having the sixth-largest economy in the world, that there's nothing to show for it? You'd figure we'd all be livin' like Jed Clampett from "The Beverly Hillbillies" with all the money coming in and stuff. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case in the least. |

Texas has done pretty well through this recession
about 20 years ago Governor Ann Richards (RIP) pushed the state into diversifying its industrial and employment base to more than just oil so that the next recession would be balanced out with different industries. Her idea worked pretty well and right now Texas has the best unemployment rate in the country |
