me personally, i would move on. i wouldnt ask, as its not worth upsetting someones feelings for the sake of nothing.its not like we NEED to know, its not a important document etc.

So we should go threw life not understanding people and not asking questions or clarification.

We should only be concerned about our own point of view, and if we want to learn something, and have an interest, we should just forget about it?

So we should not strive for meetings of the mind?

Oh ok, I'll go back under my rock and play with the voices in my head....

Fair enough...

You can get clarification and ask questions without attacking, belitting or embarrassing folks.

The fact is there are folks who do not post and have stopped posting because they have been embarrassed, insulted or attacked by self-appointed grammar police running through the threads. None of you can deny it's happened and some of you have been a part of it. It's not the message I want to send to folks still sitting on the fence deciding whether or not to participate in the threads. Everyone, no matter their language skills should feel free to post in the forums. These forums do not belong to a select group, they belong to all of us.

Ok that is valid; but what if they ask; as in "why can't I get a date?", or in "Rate My Profile"? Should we not point out that they need a little help? Or should we just lie to them and humor them? I am not being a smart aleck here- I am really perplexed.

well, no, but aren't you interested in what people are saying? Isn't that why we are all here?

yes i am interested, but if i thought by asking would upset he/she then i would leave it. ive ALWAYS understood everyone on here. i really dont see what the big deal is about

catering to the thin skinned, that to me would say that it's more their forum than anyone else's.

and again, "offensive" is a very grey area type subject. it's purely subjective.

life is offensive

Again, and I am not sure how many other ways I can state this, as long in 'pointing out' they need a little help in no way is against forum rules, is attacking, belittling, insulting or embarrassing, it is acceptable. Folks whopost in the Rate Me forums for the most do so for input and I believe most of us are capable of offering input without making people feel unwelcomed or insulted.

Those are your words, not mine. I think I've stated pretty clearly my point of view.

See here is the thing - some of us make fun of everything - ourselves, our friends, and every bit of irony that is presented to us. Why do people have to take it all so seriously? So I made fun of someone - the proper thing to do is give it right back to me, not go running to the mods.

we should all strive for something. and being that nothing on the internet is truely free speach, we must comply with the rules.

this whole offensive thing goes both ways. it is offensive to censore someone because you are offended. expect someone to tolerate you, but you cannot tolerate them.

or, if not that, to let it go. these are merely words on a screen from a person you don't know

Tolerance, and insulting, attacking and belittling do not go hand-in-hand.
