U-F-NO! NASA Shoots Down Speculation Over Space Station Video

There's a rumor swirling around the internet that NASA intentionally turned off a live camera on the International Space Station (ISS) after the feed showed a small object just above Earth. The suggestion (or outright accusation, by some) is that NASA is trying to cover something up — that the bright light was an alien UFO or a large piece of space debris that the agency doesn't want people to know about.

Is there any truth to the rumors? Here's what we know: A bright object was visible in the video feed coming from the live camera on the ISS, and the camera cut out shortly after the object appeared (the camera came back on shortly after, and is now running as usual).

According to a data base assembled by The Washington Post to record fatal police shootings, as of July 10, 1,502 people have been shot and killed by on-duty police officers since the beginning of 2015. Of them, 732 were white, and 381 were black (and 382 were of another or unknown race). Yes, we should adjust for population, but then we should also adjust for the fact that blacks commit a disproportionately high number of violent crimes. For instance, blacks, according to the most recent statistics, account for 57 percent of murders, even though they represent only 13 percent of the population.

Activists argue that there is no correlation between violent crime and police killings; they maintain the only relevant variable is race. Common sense would suggest otherwise. Indeed, a new and surprising study of police shootings by Harvard economist Roland Freyer, Jr., who is African-American, revealed that there is no evidence of racial bias. In reality, Freyer found that cops tend to be rougher with blacks than whites, but that “officers were more likely to fire their weapons without having first been attacked when the suspects were white.” The truth is, blacks are not so unevenly treated as Obama would have us believe.

NASA's space station feed cuts off after UFO, sparking conspiracy theories

An unidentified object was captured on live streaming video from the International Space Station earlier this month before NASA’s video feed appeared to abruptly cut off — sparking conspiracy theories about what happened.

In the July 9 footage uploaded to YouTube, the object enters the frame above the Earth’s atmosphere.

“This could well be a meteor or the like,” the YouTube user who uploaded the footage explains. “What made it interesting was the camera cut off when the UFO seemed to stop.”

New Black Panthers will go to Cleveland with guns for self-defense

he New Black Panther Party, a "black power" organization, plans to attend demonstrations in Cleveland ahead of the Republican National Convention, and members plan to bring their firearms.

Hashim Nzinga, chairman of the New Black Panther Party, told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday that the group planned on exercising its Second Amendment rights in Ohio, an open-carry state, because "there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us."

In a statement released Wednesday clarifying the organization's position, the NBPP said: "The NEW BLACK PANTHER PARTY IS NOT INSTRUCTING ANYONE in any way, shape, form, or fashion, to bring weapons to Cleveland."

Black Lives Matter Protest In Dallas Ends With 5 Cops Murdered

At least five Dallas police officers killed by snipers in latest burst of leftist violence

In what is becoming an all-too-common story, a “Black Lives Matter” protest has ended in psychotic violence against police officers.

Multiple Dallas police officers were gunned down by snipers during a “Black Lives Matter” anti-police protest Thursday evening.

As of Friday morning, as many as eleven officers were reported shot, at least five of whom were killed.

Both numbers may continue to rise as reports come in.

The shots appeared to come from a rifle held by a sniper in a parking garage at the intersection of Griffin and Lamar in downtown Dallas.

Several suspects were in custody as of Friday morning.

Witnesses tell CBSDFW.com at least one wounded officer was rushed to the hospital in a police cruiser, with bullet holes in its door and the tires shot out.

This is just the latest in a long line of liberal protests that have ended with deadly attacks on police officers.

* This June, Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis President, Lt. Bob Kroll, declared “Black Lives Matter” a “terrorist organization” after BLM members attempted to firebomb a Minneapolis police station and kill officers.

“I don’t see Black Lives Matter as a voice for the black community in Minneapolis. The disruption, the, you know, they firebombed the precinct,” said Kroll. “There were shootings outside the precinct, hundreds of thousands of dollars [of damage] to the precinct and squad cars.”

* In September 2015, two “Black Lives Matter” activists were convicted of a terrorist plot to blow up St. Louis police stations, kill officers with machine gun fire, and then kill thousands of tourists in a 9/11-inspired bombing of St. Louis’ famous Gateway Arch.

* Also in September 2015, a “Black Lives Matter” activist hunted down and killed a Kentucky state trooper. “Not only was he a Ferguson protester, but he went to Michael Brown’s funeral and burial in a limo, the type usually reserved for family or close friends. In that limo he is riding with people from NAN, Al Sharpton’s group,” Weasel Zippers reports.

* In August 2015, the St. Paul, Minnesota branch of “Black Lives Matter,” rushed the gate of the Minnesota State Fair, screaming for the deaths of police officers.

“Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon,” the liberal screamed at fairgoers as they tried to smash their way into the gate.

* Also in August 2015, an illegal alien, not named by law enforcement because he was 16, was arrested after setting a Houston-area deputy constable’s patrol car on fire and pointing a rifle at officers, leading to a 35-minute car chase.

During the 35-minute chase across two counties, he also attempted to run over two police officers in a funeral procession.

He cited “Black Lives Matter” rhetoric as his inspiration.

YourHoustonNews reports he told arresting officers the arson attack and attempted vehicular homicide were his “war against the government” because “he was tired of his people getting shot by police and nothing happening, so he came to shoot them.”

* In March 2015, two Ferguson, Missouri police officers were shot in a sniper attack. As the officers lay on the ground bleeding, another liberal activist taunted them, screeching, “Acknowledgement nine months ago would have kept that from happening.”

* In December 2014, a man who praised the Ferguson rioters and vowed to kill police officers as an act of social justice executed two New York City police officers.

“I’m Putting Wings On Pigs Today. They Take 1 Of Ours … Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,” he posted to Instagram before finding and killing officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.

His other social media accounts propagated liberal narratives about police violence and the need for rioting.

A cancer surgeon who boasted that her job made her superior to the lowly NYPD officers arresting her for refusing a summons and clipping a cop with her car took a plea deal Tuesday in Manhattan court – but remained unrepentant for the bizarre fiasco.

Rachel Wellner, 40, wearing a red minidress and black pumps, pled guilty to disorderly conduct — a violation, not a crime — for parking in a crosswalk Feb. 18.

“The People are making the offer,” said ADA Michael McCarthy, “because it is defendant’s first arrest and the officer involved did not experience serious injury.”

Only 120 suspects, most of them foreign nationals, have been identified in the mass sex crimes. The Post reported that a 21-year-old Iraqi man and a 26-year-old Algerian man were given suspended one-year sentences. A court spokesman said both men arrived in Germany within the last two years.

One official told the German paper that the mass sex crimes were a result of the refugee crisis.

"There is a connection between the emergence of this phenomenon and the rapid migration in 2015," Holger Münch, president of the German Federal Crime Police Office, said.

All this is simple childishness, the journalistic equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and whistling Dixie so you don't have to hear the bad news. Whether you agree with Obama or not, the fact remains that his administration has been wracked with scandal from the IRS to Fast and Furious to the persecution of journalists to Benghazi to the lies about Bowe Bergdahl to the lies and dirty deals used to pass Obamacare to the lies used to push the Iran nuclear deal and on and on. Just because the New York Times has responded to these scandals with a curious lack of interest in no way means they didn't exist.

As for Obama's success, a fair journalist might at least consider his disastrous mishandling of the Middle East, the economic crumbling of Obamacare, the out-of-control debt, a recovery that never quite takes off because of feverish over-regulation and (did I mention?) Obamacare, and of course the upsurge in racial tension which the president has stoked with his reckless pre-judgements of the police and his false 1970s view of America.

The desperate need of left-wing journalists to see Obama as "pure" and "most successful" — to see him as they've reported him instead of how he is — is in part a result of the racial pathology of the left, its tendency to reduce people to their victim group. The notion that "the first black president" has been a failure would be, according to this way of thinking, a nasty slight against a race rather than, what it is, an indictment of bad ideas and their consequences.

California city councilwoman blames police for Dallas officers' deaths

A California city councilwoman is being called on to resign after publishing a Facebook post in response to five Dallas officers being killed Thursday night in downtown Dallas.

Nevada City Council member Reinette Senum blamed police for the officers' deaths, The Sacramento Bee reports.

"This was completely incited by America's police force," she wrote. "They have obviously been given directives to go out there and kill. It's insane and it's meant to create mayhem."
