Report: Corrine Brown facing federal indictment

07/07/16 02:58 PM EDT

Florida Rep. Corrine Brown has been indicted and will be appear in federal court in Jacksonville on Friday, according to First Coast News.

The Jacksonville television station, citing "multiple sources," said the indictment remains sealed.

It had been known publicly since March that Brown, a Democrat, was facing a Department of Justice Investigation related to "fraudulent activities," and whether or not she improperly solicited charitable donations and misused campaign funds. DOJ officials asked the House Ethics Committee to halt a separate investigation while they conducted their probe.

The target of the investigation has not been identified, but Brown does have links to the head of a charity who pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and agreed to cooperate with the feds. Court documents mention a public official, identified only as "person A." In addition, Brown was also served with a federal subpoena in January.

Despite the looming investigation, Brown is running for reelection to her 5th Congressional District seat. She is challenged in the primary by Tallahassee Democrat Al Lawson, who is a former state senator.

Over the past four years, U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown repeatedly has used her name, office and political connections to steer tens of thousands of dollars to an obscure organization in Northern Virginia that says it helps a range of charities.

surprised
Damn.. I could not understand this woman (Ebonics), even with the subtitles.
Thankfully there are transcripts...

Congresswoman Corrine Brown gradulates the University of Florida Gatas on their third national tyla, second tyla under Corch Irvin Meyers.

This is what she had intended to say:

I rise today to congratulate my University of Florida football team for winning their second NCAA BCS Championship bowl game in the last three seasons. Go Gators!

I want to congratulate the University of Florida not only for being a great academic school but also one of the best athletic schools in the country. In their 24-14 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners, they displayed great teamwork and sportsmanship while fielding the best defense I've ever seen. They held the highest scoring offense in the country to just 14 points!

The Gators proved that the University of Florida's season was no fluke and that the Florida Gators are a championship team that made history. Congratulations to their great players and outstanding coach, Urban Meyer, for coaching a remarkable group of guys!

Let's do a quick fact check:

The Gators have won their second national championship in the past three years and the third in the school's history. Florida is the fourth school in the modern era to win two outright national titles in a three year period. Florida finished the 2008 season with a 13-1 record, matching the single-season school record for wins.

Tim Tebow became the fifth player since 1950 to win a Heisman Trophy and two national championships.

The win makes Urban Meyer the fifth active coach with multiple national titles and the fifth coach since the AP Poll began in 1936 to win two national championships in his first four seasons at a school.

Tim Tebow, Florida's leader and quarterback, not only ran for 109 yards but also completed 18 of 30 passes for 231 yards. He was flawless in the fourth quarter alone, when it mattered the most and the pressure was on.

Percy Harvin, whose gutsy play won him the game ball, came back from an ankle injury and dashed for 122 yards on only nine carries. It was his 52-yard run down the stretch that set up Jonathan Phillips' 27-yard field goal early in the quarter for a 17-14 lead, which the Gators never lost. And they never looked back!

There has been some discussion in this body about having a national championship playoff. Let me be clear: we've had a playoff! The Gators played in the best conference in the country and emerged victorious.

And I hate to say it, but everything is just not all equal. We want to encourage all of our kids to participate in sports and activities because we know that it builds character. But it is clear that the Gators are superb to any other schools in the country and in the conference that we play in.

In closing, I want to leave you with the Gator chant that I just love: "One, two, three, four, five, them there Gators don't take no jive!"

* What a political (& social) embarrassment & self promoting b@tch she is at taxpayers expense. And to force her peers to listen to those ramblings.. on the floor. slaphead *

Clinton Foundation Corruption Should Be Next for the FBI

It will be hard to evade indictment if Hillary is elected president

Brown is just one of several Clinton super delegates to recently be exposed for fraudulent activity. Late last month, Congressman Chaka Fattah was convicted on charges of racketeering, corruption and stealing charitable funds. Senator Bob Menendez, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Governor Dannel Malloy, and former Virginia Governor who served as Clinton’s 2008 campaign chair, Terry McAuliffe, are also in the midst of corruption probes.

It would appear that only Hillary and Bill truly seem to understand how to launder funds for political favors, with the Clinton Foundation front-and-center for aspiring pupils of white collar crime.
