Powell emails reveal Clinton's apparent disdain for Obama

When news broke that former Secretary of State Colin Powell's emails were hacked, just about every mainstream media headline read: "Colin Powell calls Donald Trump a 'national disgrace.'"

I get the punch that headline packs. But it misses the bigger takeaway from those leaked emails: They are far more damaging to Hillary Clinton than to Donald Trump.

The "revelation" that Powell has disdain for Trump can't be much of a surprise given his past endorsement of President Barack Obama and the fact that so many of his fellow generals and national security peers have publicly pushed back against the Republican nominee for months. Plus, seeing Trump being called a national disgrace or worse in the news media is pretty much an hourly occurrence in America these days and he's still surging in the polls.

Far more damaging are the emails where Powell discusses Clinton, her email scandal, her health, and her apparent hatred of President Obama. I suspect each of these suddenly very current topics, and not the slam on Trump, are the real reason why the alleged hacking outfit, DCLeaks.com chose to publish the emails now.

DNC Leak Exposes Possible Pay-to-Play and Insider Trading

Guccifer 2.0 leaks Democratic Party emails ranging from the unsavory to the possibly criminal

Another DNC email leaked previously showed one staffer requesting “a very brief call to go over our process for handling donations from donors who have given us pay-to-play letters.” We now know that process ends with a cushy job in blatant violation of the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act.

As if a thriving pay-to-pay scheme weren’t bad enough, the latest DNC leaks also include a file that suggests possible insider trading and securities fraud, according to independent journalist Matt Forney. A file called “CNBC” contains three files with information on various stocks and equities.

The information in the new batch of leaks goes from damaging to simply embarrassing. In one email, current DNC Communications Director Luis Miranda complains about the bad optics that occur when George Soros and the Democrats' union allies don't come through with providing their normal rent-a-protest crowds.

"Going forward, when our allies screw up and don't deliver bodies in time, we either send all our interns out there or we stay away from it … we don't want to own a bad picture," it reads.

Judicial Watch: Dem Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse Urged DOJ to Prosecute Tea Party Groups

A Democratic senator sought Justice Department and IRS Criminal prosecutions of conservatives in 2013, newly-released federal documents reveal.

The Department of Justice documents reveal email conversations between its officials and the staff of Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat, about possible criminal prosecution of tea party groups for alleged violation of IRS rules, says Judicial Watch, a government watchdog which obtained the material.

The conversations were in preparation for a briefing by Justice Department officials for Whitehouse's staff and for a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism hearing.

In one exchange, Whitehouse says:

"I would urge that the Department and the Service get together and rethink whether in these two specific areas, which I think bear little resemblance to traditional tax violations and are in fact very plain-vanilla criminal cases …"

He asks whether "the Department could not proceed to… put together a criminal case showing a fairly straightforward false statement or a fairly [straightforward] shell corporation disclosure violation."

According to Judicial Watch, the organizations Whitehouse mentioned included American Future Fund, Crossroads GPS, Americans for Responsible Leadership, Freedom Path, American is Not Stupid, Inc., RightChange.com II, and A Better America Now — all of them conservative organizations.

"The Obama IRS scandal includes abuse of power by Democrats in Congress who wanted to jail Obama's political opponents to help secure Obama's reelection," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said.

"And Americans should know that the courts have recently concluded the Obama IRS abuses haven't stopped — even as we approach another presidential election."

The last thing the govt wants is a public trial for Snowden. If they can't railroad him in a secret court he won't get "his day in court". Report: Clinton Camp Fed Menendez Questions for Benghazi Hearing

A report by Fox News suggests that New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez may have been fed specific questions by a Hillary Clinton aide for the January 2013 hearing on the Benghazi attack. At the time, Menendez was the acting chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.

According to the report, Clinton aide Philippe Reines sent Chelsea Clinton an email on the morning of the January 23 hearing that said: “We wired it that Menendez would provide an opportunity to address two topics we needed to debunk (her actions/whereabouts on 9/11, and these email from Chris Stevens about moving locations.)”

The report goes on to say that Menendez did, in fact, lead the hearing with topics broached by Reines.
