My thoughts on this is that a failed reltionship is a time to reflect on what you did wrong too. I don't seem to find a lot of this since dating, everyone i meet tells me how the other was at fault. I look back and think boy i wish i had done a better job. Am i all alone in this feeling? No, you're not alone.  Took me a while to get to this point though.  It was so much easier to put all the blame on him. I realize nowadays that attitude wasn't healthy...and it wasn't fair to him. I was as much to blame.

I agree with galendgirl on the hike and/or picnic. There's also fishing, playing cards, going to the local rec center or ymca for basketball or swimming, etc. Or you could catch a Sunday matinee.

Is a life without a significant other a lonely existence, or does it become less important as time goes by?
I would rather be alone then with someone that's bad for me. Alone doesn't mean lonely to me.

As you can see by looking at my photo, I have a weight problem. Two months ago, I started walkinga mile everyday and last month I added bicycling one mile 3 days a week. When I started, I could not fit into any of my jeans (talking about size 28 that were nearly worn out). Last week I went shopping, and extremely excited to find that I dropped at least two jeans sizes. I also recently noticed that my hips are quite smaller. Why is this so exciting to me? I haven't been able to buy a brand new size 26 jeans since 2002. I'm making it my goal to lose at least 2 more jeans sizes... Good for you!

Paint. aw REALLY??? I love painting....I bet your work is just beautiful...acrylics watercolor or oils?? I've been playing around with watercolors for the past several months. Before that it was acrylics. Thank you! I don't know if it's all beautiful, lol, sometimes I paint some pretty dark pictures. Very therapeutic.
