No wonder the world calls us selfish. American poverty is self-inflicted by lazy, slothful people who want a hand-out. As a single mother of three children, deceased ex-husband who left no life insurance, who has from time to time gone jobless...one of the poorest factions in America...I am testimony to the fact that not making it in America means you're not trying at all. Pretty soon we'll have fires in the streets like in France. The people in other countries, especially Africa and the Middle East, have it sooo much worse than we do, but all we know how to do is complain about how we don't get enough hand-delivered to our doorstep... Makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. This guy was trying to say something nice that was happening because of Bush and you guys are so warped in the head and biased that you have to attack even something good. At least Republicans did see some good in Clinton, like welfare reform. At least they want Obama to succeed. (That's not directed at Templt, or any of the last pages' post. I just didn't want to call anyone out and quote them. They know who they are.) welcome aboard my fellow Conservative... ...***warning***...you are about to enter the "Liberal Zone"...where " our "...thoughts and Ideas...are impugned...laughed at...and...made fun of...just laugh it off...as I do... ...good luck...gulp !! I think you may be too... ...I hope I didn't scare her away...my fellow Conservative teammates have dwindled to a chosen few...gulp !!... Uh no... the numbers dwindled because people got tired of their comments being brushed aside by the mods as hate speech. That seems to be the lib mantra for anything they don't like to hear. It's all hate speech that doesn't agree with them. I suppose with OBAMA as prez that's what we will be hearing ad nausium for the next four years...anything but solutions to the pressing problems. ITMT, notice how the jobs are flying out the door? So much for DEMS doing anything for the "average joe", Right? Stay tuned...this will be fun. |

i need help!

lately within the past month and half i have really fallen away from the lord and it hurts. i dont want to its just sin has its attrations. my own will takes its toll, i get slacking on reading the word. i just need help like some inspirational words. i fear i am going to commit the inpardonable sin! PLEASE HELP! The fact that you are feeling convicted like this should tell you that God NEVER turns His back on us. He is wanting to draw you back to Him. Satan will do everything he can to cause us to doubt our salvation and will try to tell us it's ok for us to not read our Bible, pray, go to church, etc. When I start feeling satan trying to distract me and I start going through trials that is when I pray more and call out to God for strength. When we aren't living in God's will satan wont worry about us but...when we are trying to live a Godly life he is going to be nipping at our heels constantly! Some days I feel like I am satan's favorite chew toy. Just rebuke him and run back to God. I agree... the flesh will always war with the spirit in us. We are to put down our flesh if we want to recieve the greater gift of God. for sure... We are to cast out that bondwoman & her son...they have no part with the heirs of God. No man can be justified in their flesh...only by faith. Mortality must put on the immortality... the corrupt must put on the incorruptable. Amen! |

I am amazed that this thread is here at all considering that it is considered hate speech to disagree with the gay activism in this country????
I wonder if any mod can explain that to me? Especially since this has been discussed prior with the OP taken off the board & points given against it (like the float your boat mindset that got people dependant on govt. to begin with) being given the "hate speech" diatribe. ?????? |

Who's a Servant?

Who is a Servant? Does Scripture tell us? When you go out to eat or anywhere where you have someone wait on you help you or serve you how do you treat them? Do you show discipleship and love to them when you are served? Blessings...Miles I try to treat people the way I would want to be treated. I also leave a big tip...even if the person doesn't deserve it. We all have our bad days. A "servant" is someone who has a presence of grace when helping others... I always admire nurses & people in the health profession. There is something about those people that I admire. Another group are the law enforcement. another thankless job but special, very special people only can serve properly. We should appreciate people who do certain jobs...not everyone has the brains or ability or hospitaple personality to do certain jobs..so they aren't "just a job." |

Slain in the Spirit

There are many nuances to being slain in the spirit...I had the experience only once...I was home along singing praise music & my spirit lifted out of my body as I was reaching UP to God...I was sitting on the arm of my sofa & my body fell right on the floor. It brought me right out of whatever happened.
I have since experienced being lifted out of troubling circimstances in my spirit....and sensed being "carried" by God. My best expereinces were ones that were a surprize to me... I don't go for being pushed down but I don't think people do it deliberately. It could be the "wind" of the spirit doing things we are not aware of. Sometimes things happen that make me say HUH? But something always happens later that makes me know that whatever it was, worked. Almost like God sneaking up on me. Sometimes it's the only way it works for me. We all have preconceived notions about God that hinder the supernatural manifestations. |

Well if you believe that Paul was taken up in the "heat of the Spirit" to see heaven & the future directly from the Lord...then YES! There is such a thing...it still goes on...even today.
If you believe that it's Jesus who RAISES us above the circumstances...that meaning in our spirit, then YES! There is such a thing. These things can only be experienced in the spirit. Just as Elisha said to his servant..."look again! There are more of us than there are of them." YES! YES! YES! |

Thanks for sharing. It is true... anger, resentment & being offended by people is a waste of time. It has no place in the solutions.
Funny thing about getting slammed around by people is that it causes you to cry out for God justice...not revenge, but to make what's wrong in your life right. It's an awesome thing to see God divinely intervene when you allow yourself to experience the pain you feel. There is nothing like a humble heart to set you free from the fears, hurts etc, whatever they are. I remember saying to God...You made me this way. LOL Well God showed my He had nothing to do with it. It was the corruption of the world that did that. In quietness & confidence is your strength." That's how God makes us. |

That sort of thinking is exactly what the enemy would put in your head.
Therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus & are called according to His purposes. Condemnation is not from God. Don't put so much pressure on yourself & the overwelming spirit will leave you. I am realizing that emotions have no place in the solutions of our lives. Getting mad & upset or anxious is a waste of time. It really is. A calm atmosphere is how God made us. Anything else is a lie & not of God. You can store that one in heaven where moths & locusts can't steal it or eat away at it. |

Train up a child in the way he should go & when he grows up he will not depart from it.
I believe that it is the same conclusion most people come to after all the craziness out there. God bless.... |

well....we're ALL gonna find out in the end...right ?...wrong ?...maybe ?.... Well actually they had an entire section on all the presidents with a half page expose' on each one. Very interesting... They also had a crossword puzzle about all the presidents. It was very cool. Can anyone tell me who the first black president of the USA was? Who was the only president who was single? Which prez did two non sequeter terms in office? As far as the politics went...they had the whigs & the federalists. Crazy but interesting. They actually sounded like some of our politicans of today. Who woulda thunk it! |

Jesus was one smart dude! He summed up the commandments into two...
Mark 12 30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. In Exodus 19 & 20...all the Lord's commandments are acts of love...toward each other. Keeping Him before us was our daily conscience, our innocence, everything we need for life & living. Even God's admonishments are not rejection but for our good. His uttermost love toward us & our uttermost love for Him. It is attainable. 16 Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain[a] quaked greatly. 19 And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice. 20 Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 24 Then the LORD said to him, “Away! Get down and then come up, you and Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, lest He break out against them.” 25 So Moses went down to the people and spoke to them 20 1 And God spoke all these words, saying: 2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. 7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. 8 “ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. 12 “ Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you. 13 “You shall not murder. 14 “You shall not commit adultery. 15 “You shall not steal. 16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” 18 Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. 19 Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” 20 And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” 21 So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was. |

Yes well many here don't attribute the upbringing of themselves or their friends & people they know as to why they gave. People who give are unbelievers who have fallen away but once did believe. I'm glad for that. I can not imagine a world where people are totally selfish from not knowing better. Thank God for those who led the way.
All the glory goes to God still, even today. |
