Dearest Whispers ... A child absolutely MUST know that you will love them NO MATTER WHAT!! Vrying degrees of parental acceptance, including lack of it, have pushed our youth into crime and self destruction for as long as there's been history. They MUST know you respect them as people. Respect is one of those things you cannot just expect others to give - it must be earned. I believe parents forget this when it applies to their own children. If you are pushed into some sort of reprimand, remember to sandwich any negativity between two applicable positive statements. EX: I understand you are not feeling well today dear. Your room has to be clean BEFORE the party tonight - or you will not go. I did notice you've spent some time tidying your bookshelf - it looks great! <kissesnhugs> No backing down, no exceptions. Positive reaction creates positive pro-active behavior - while the firmness they will see and the steadfastness of your love, will allow them to rest emotionally. They will be able to relax knowing you will not change - they'll know what to expect - and never doubt you love them. Just MHO Wishing you luck in this - it's worth the effort!!!

Im a honestmanic, lol wink,wink,lol Ya know ... so am I. But so many of the relationships I have attempted in the last couple of years have crashed because of that honesty, I now believe that people do not know what they are saying when they ask for complete honesty. This is a highly judgemental forum post Who gives anyone the right to say they can't judge???? Hmmmm We all judge all the time. Were you handed a sentence with the judgement? Maybe it should be handed down as a paragraph instead, to wit: If I see some young kid walking down the street with his trousers half down and his boxers halfway exposed is it not my right to think it looks completely stupid and impractical to boot? Ihave the same right to think it looks stupid as others have the right to think it looks cool. Laws are established daily by the corporate judgements of society. Is that wrong too? Isn't corporate opinion formed by a whole bunch of individual opinions? How then, can individual opinions be deemed inappropriate if they are a requirement of corporate opinion? Because I uphold the 'Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you' Golden Rule, I dont believe reacting or retaliating in such a way is right. Deliberately pushing someone's buttons is spiteful and most often the result of communication breakdown. There are times when you'd do such a thing to get a laugh - and I suppose that's not so bad. Especially if the other person has a funny hang-up or habit that they are trying to break and you have already agreed to work on it together. Either way, it's manipulative. If you wanna flex your quid pro quo muscles, try flooding him/her with love and affection - just see if that doesnt bring a better result!! |

I have slept on the street a few times while attempting escape from a very bad relationship. I had to hide, but I loved the solitude. It was cold, but I had peace. Eventually, I had to return. I am glad I dont have to deal with that anymore. |

In HS, I was the 'little guy's' advocate. Never popular, but everyone wanted to be my friend. In grade school, there were two boys who used to chase me around the playground - all in fun, I suppose. They could never catch more than a ponytail, when they caught anything at all. One day, I was tired of getting my hair pulled. I chased one up to the top of the swingset, then sat at the bottom until he started crying. After that, no one chased me. It was kinda lonely.
