Topic: What Is Your Opinion Of A Date That Always Orders Alcohol Be

I met a woman on Match.com and I asked her out for lunch. I'm a gentleman and I pay for everything. She ordered a $15.00 cocktail, which was almost the same price as her meal. I don't drink alcohol.

We dated 4 times and each time she ordered an alcoholic beverage.

It just started to bother me. I told her I'm more than happy to pay for her meals but if she wants to order alcohol she will have to pay that herself.

She called me a cheap son-of-a-b*tch and that was the end of that relationship.

if you don't want to date a woman that drinks alcohol than you should specify it. Someone who goes out on a dinner date ordering cocktails is the norm. That's what most people do, after a few dates and then bringing it up would seem like you're being cheap. My advice, find someone who doesn't drink either.

She just ordered the one drink, each time?

Which probably seemed normal to her, as a drinker.
It also might have been her attempt at 'loosening up'
with a stranger.

I do not drink either so it does make me wonder
what kind of job she had to go back to that
would tolerate afternoon cocktails.

The fact that she dumped you for not paying for
her drinks also says a lot. Can we assume she
knew you were a teetotaler? If so, that
understanding should have gone both ways.

One drink?
Just one drink?

Perhaps, in the future, you should let your
dates know your feelings on purchasing alcoholic
beverages. BEFORE, the date.

I met a woman on Match.com and ...

I doubt that you really had such a date, or the other one you previously posted about.

Is this the same woman who added the extra take home meal while you were in the bog that you whined about earlier????

I think I'd like to find out what makes a cocktail worth fifteen dollars.

Maybe a change of date would have been better, the cinema, theatre, etc. anywhere alcohol was not sold.
Good luck in your search.

Don't know where you're from but most theaters here and a goodly number of cinemas serve alcohol. But not fifteen dollar cocktails.

Obviously the two of you were not a romantic match . Men generally go out of their way to impress a date if there is chemistry .

Her expectations clearly misalign with yours .

Cinemas not so much in the UK. But some do, more the theatres where many have restaurants attached..

I think he would have done better choosing anywhere that did not sell alcohol, not always possible on first dates when the lady chooses as well.

Mc Donalds, a coffee shop, or a fish and chips spot.

But watch out for that ten dollar extra take away meal.

laugh laugh Reading the OP's statement and the comments. I have to agree with those that feel one drink is not a deal breaker when going out to eat..

Myself when I go out to eat I do normally order a drink, if I'm treating myself going to a Restaurant then I'm going to have a drink with my meal.. Many times at home I do the same but it is just the one drink..

But then if you ask someone out you should expect them to order what they would if they went out to eat.. Or make it clear the first meet is dutch..

Which I always have and even had some get mad at me for that.. My reason was cause I want a drink and no guarantee there will be a 2nd meet.

So I assume if you took her to the movies, you would expect her to share with you instead of her own popcorn??

All I can say is if ya can't afford the date, then don't ask someone to go out~~~

It kills me for all one has to do is ask questions prior to meeting someone for a meet.. Make sure they are on your level what you like or dislike..

Really I mean if you don't smoke and hate it, are you going to go out with a smoker? Most will not...So why even set up a meet knowing that?? You see for that is pretty much what you did! Ask Questions~~

You went through this with the same person,
on four separate occasions.
Why?

Repeating the same thing over and over, and
expecting different results, is a warning sign
of insanity.
