This is a serious question: How many leftist Dems have invite persons from the Caravan to their home for hot showers, food and a place to sleep? Our detention centers are overcrowded, so it seems to me those who want the illegals should step up and take care of them.

Mike Pence's Old Warning About POTUS Bypassing Congress Comes Back To Haunt Him

"An old video of Vice President Mike Pence calling executive presidential action on immigration a “profound mistake” has resurfaced, as President Donald Trump plans to declare a national emergency to secure money for his U.S.-Mexico border wall".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDomfjfK2Xs

It's only a "profound mistake" when someone who doesn't share your agenda makes it, otherwise, it's a great idea. Mitch McConnell, among other "leaders", has allowed this president to cross a line that opens up a Pandora's box of abuse of power that not only circumvents the Legislative branch of government but the will of the people who are supposedly represented by these hundreds of people that are now powerless. We can only hope the Judicial branch holds strong. Whether you want this wall or not, this is not how it should be decided. We cannot hand this power to the president without handing over the power to take away our constitutional rights.

'I didn't need to do this': Trump declares national emergency to build a wall

"In a rambling, teleprompter-free diatribe, President Trump announced that he was declaring a national emergency in order to build a wall at the southern border.

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden Friday morning, after a long digression in which he touched on trade policy with China, the war on ISIS and other subjects, Trump announced he would take executive action to divert federal money to declare a national emergency for “virtual invasion purposes.” In doing so, he brought up many of the discredited arguments he has been relying on over the last several months. He said drugs coming across the southern border don’t come through official ports of entry (not true), that El Paso, Texas, was dangerous before the construction of a wall (not true) and that women are being trafficked across the unguarded portions of the border (no evidence exists of this). Trump also disputed studies that have found undocumented immigrants commit crimes at a lower rate than native-born citizens".

The man is off his rocker. He has completely jumped the rails. I hope the Trump supporters are happy. You're really close to getting the communist country you've been asking for. If this is allowed to happen this way, it won't be long. You may get what you've been asking for. Our constitution will be useless.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to introduce bill blocking Trump’s ‘fake national emergency’

"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Joaquin Castro have announced new legislation that they intend to introduce as part of an effort to block Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration over the US-Mexico border". The Democratic lawmakers pointed to the National Emergencies Act that provides Congress the ability to “terminate the President’s emergency declaration,” according to Mr Castro.

seems like mixing issues for me

how many gun rights advocates, go to the hood and invite gun toting citizens into their home? Does that mean they should not still respect the right to bear arms?

how many people who get upset over kneeling during the anthem, help take care of wounded vets? does that mean they dont still respect them?

how many people who dont approve of abortion go out and adopt unwanted kids or pay for pregnant womens medical care? Does that mean they should support abortion?

how many people that dont believe others should drink and drive, wait outside of bars taking strangers home?

What people can do on an individual basis for individual strangers often does not directly correlate with what they believe in and support on a broader basis.

Lawsuits Against Trump's National Emergency Declaration Start Rolling In

"The first lawsuits challenging the legality of President Donald Trump’s national emergency declaration began rolling in on Friday, and lawmakers say more are likely to follow.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington came out the gate first with a lawsuit alleging that the Department of Justice failed to provide documents concerning the president’s legal authority to invoke emergency powers over a border wall.

“Americans deserve to know the true basis for President Trump’s unprecedented decision to enact emergency powers to pay for a border wall,” CREW Executive Director Noah Bookbinder said in a statement. “We’re suing because the government has so far failed to produce the requested documents or provide an explanation for their delay".

http://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-administration-hit-first-lawsuit-191928712.html

Others have pointed out the dangerous precedent set by a president invoking emergency powers to make good on a campaign promise.

“What is particularly troubling here is the idea that the president and administration officials seem to be trying to manufacture an emergency in order to achieve a political goal,” Brookings Institution legal scholar Margaret Taylor said in a Q&A with Vice News last month.

This is just Trump's way of saving face. Anyone with at least half of a functioning brain knows that this a farcical violation of the Constitution and will never fly. But what does he care? He is giving himself cover with his base who will with no doubt believe right up to the end that they are going to get their Great Wall of Trump.

When they don't, they will still praise Trump for his "awesomeness" and blame it on the Deep State. Of course, this cover is going to be purchased by the Self-promoter-in-Chief with tens of Millions of taxpayer dollars in useless litigation. But what does Trump care? He spends way more than that tripping down to his golf palace in Florida every weekend after a work week that isn't even worthy of a part-time employee.

Parkland father slams Trump for declaring 'fake' national emergency day after anniversary of shooting

"The father of a Parkland shooting victim slammed President Trump for declaring a national emergency over the border wall on the day after the first anniversary of his daughter’s death.

Fred Guttenberg’s 14-year-old daughter, Jaime, was one of the 17 people killed in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School last year. Since Jaime’s death, Guttenberg has spoken out about the realities of gun violence and advocated for gun control.

In a Friday morning tweet, Guttenberg called out Trump for initially blaming the Parkland shooting on the Russia investigation".

Every remedy available': Here's what Democrats vow to do to rebuff Trump's national emergency order on the border wall

"WASHINGTON – Democratic leaders vowed Friday to fight President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration, calling it a "power grab by a disappointed president."

"The Congress will defend our constitutional authorities in the Congress, in the courts, and in the public, using every remedy available," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Chuck Schumer said in a joint statement".

Trump said he didn’t want to do it, but he did it anyway and that statement alone tell it’s not an emergency. Trump has just created more problems for the Republicans. Trump is a Democrat's best friend.

Trump doesn’t let facts get in the way of declaring a national emergency

"President Trump’s rambling declaration of a national emergency, the intent of which was to fund a barrier along hundreds of miles on the U.S. border with Mexico, was filled with factual inaccuracies, misleading statements, and contradictions.

In his Rose Garden remarks on Friday, Trump repeated many of the same disproven claims he has made over the last several weeks about drug smuggling, human trafficking and other crime at the border. But instead of simply ignoring the widely reported evidence that has been presented to refute his assertions, the president went after it head-on.
"
“It’s all a lie, ” Trump said of the argument that a wall would do little to combat the flow of illicit drugs across the southern border, since they are largely smuggled through official ports of entry — a fact demonstrated in data from the Drug Enforcement Administration as well as U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and illustrated by the recent trial and conviction of notorious Mexican cartel boss Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera".

http://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-doesnt-let-facts-get-way-declaring-national-emergency-021204749.html

I hate to say it. I've tried to keep from saying it. But for me, and several other people that I know, we know now for sure that Trump is mentally unstable. Anyone who just continues to believe that EVERYTHING is a lie. There is no truth but your truth. And you refuse anything else, especially a person in high office, doesn't want to believe his own DEA. He refuses to believe his Customs and Border Protection reports, something is mentally wrong with this man.

I mean no fear mongering. But at the same time, we as Americans should be paying attention to this. As Americans, you should be upset. Trump has absolutely no respect for our constitution. Trying to pull this stunt proves it.

I'm looking for this to get tied up in court for the next foreseeable future. Trump will be gone in 2020. If it can be locked in litigation that long, once Trump is gone it won't matter.

But what if I'm wrong? What if he does find a way to pull this off? If he does, we can kiss our constitution goodbye. Goodbye to our rights. Goodbye to everything we hold dear about living in this country. Hello Communism.

This is your president. I hope some of you are happy. You keep standing with him and You will finally get the communist country you seem to want.

George Washington: " I can not tell a lie."
Richard Nixon: " I can not tell the truth."
Donald Trump: " I can not tell the difference.Or the truth.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Regarding National Emergency to get wall .....

TRUMP: "And a big majority of the big drugs, the big drug loads don’t go through ports of entry. They can’t go through ports of entry. You can’t take big loads because you have people, you have some very capable people, the border patrol, law enforcement looking"

False: DEA and DHS have already stated multiple times that the majority of drugs come through border crossings hidden in cars or in the cargo of tractor trailers. Other points of entry are cargo containers in seaports.

TRUMP: ... I went through Congress, I made a deal. I got almost $1.4 billion when I wasn't supposed to get $1 -- not $1. He's not going to get $1. Well, I got $1.4 billion, but I'm not happy with it.

From what I heard Democrats say on the news Trump wouldn't get any money for his wall and the nearly 1.4B is not for the wall. It is for replacing / repairing existing fence, equipment and tech for Border Patrol and improving ports of entry.

TRUMP: I didn't need to do this, but I'd rather do it much faster. And I don't have to do it for the election; I've already done a lot of wall for the election 2020.

If he didn't NEED to do it then it's not an emergency. Wanting to do it faster is a personal desire to fulfill a campaign promise and circumvent Congress and the Constitution. As to the part about having done a lot of wall ...0 wall...that's ZERO new wall has been constructed thus far. Only replacement/repair of existing fence.

TRUMP: And right now, China is paying us billions of dollars a year in tariffs and I haven't even started.

Tariffs are paid by the importer not the expoerter. Tariffs are a border-tax on the buyer, not the seller; they make it more expensive for the buyer to import a good into the country. So all the money going into government coffers ..... comes from Americans not the Chinese or any other country being tariffed.

TRUMP: And, by the way, the USMCA from Mexico -- that's United States, Mexico, Canada -- that's where the money's coming from, not directly, but indirectly, for the wall. And nobody wants to talk about that. Because we're saving billions and billions of dollars a year, if Congress approves that deal.

But the USMCA, which has yet to be ratified by Congress, doesn’t differ from NAFTA in any way that would result in a substantial revenue increase. As the New York Times pointed out last month, the new provisions added deal mostly with automobile manufacturing, intellectual property rights and access to Canadian dairy, which Trump has tweeted about at length. “It’s much harder to connect actual provisions of the USMCA to cash for the wall, since they don’t put money in the coffers of the Treasury,”

http://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/just-clear-mexico-no-way-202327439.html

TRUMP: Take a look at our federal prison population, see how many of them percentage wise are illegal aliens, just see.

This is misleading. Since being an illegal is of itself a violation of Federal law it is expected that they would held in federal prisons. However when looking at the total incarcerated in the United States it is a miniscule percentage.

The United States holds the highest incarceration rate in the world. In the United States, 743 of every 100,000 people is incarcerated.
http://www.notguiltynj.com/how-many-americans-have-been-incarcerated/

This works out to 2,399,890 incarcerated.

Of the 45,493 foreign-born inmates in the federal prison system made up of 188,658 inmates, the Justice Department said 3,939 are U.S. citizens.
According to the agency data, immigration orders have been issued for 54.2 percent — about 22,541 — of the remaining 41,554 incarcerated immigrants. Another 33.4 percent, about 13,886 inmates, are under investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for possible removal.
The Justice Department said about 12.3 percent — or 5,101 — of the illegal immigrants behind bars are still waiting adjudication and 26 have been granted relief because they risk persecution or serious harm if they are deported.
http://thehill.com/latino/331619-doj-releases-data-on-incarceration-rates-of-illegal-immigrants

TRUMP:I get my numbers from a lot of sources, like Homeland Security primarily, and the numbers that I have from Homeland Security are a disaster.

Again these numbers are only of those held in Federal prisons.

U.S. military not decided yet on the necessity of border wall

"ABOARD A U.S. MILITARY AIRCRAFT (Reuters) - Acting U.S. Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said on Saturday he had not yet determined whether a border wall with Mexico was a military necessity or how much Pentagon money would be used".

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-border-military-idUSKCN1Q50R2

If the military says they see no necessity for this wall, will Trump call his own military liers? He seems to make a fool of himself at least once a day.

Four False Assumptions About Trump’s Wall Emergency

"A full evaluation of the legality of President Donald Trump’s decision to declare a national emergency, and to order the building of a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, is best deferred until the appearance of a supporting memorandum from the Justice Department".
