Tonight I watched Top Gun: Maverick after I watched the first Top Gun last night.
I didn't like the first one back then and I still don't. Chemistry isn't there between the cast, it doesn't work.
But this second one, holy cow!
Doesn't happen very often but in this case the sequel is much much better!
In this movie the chemistry between the cast is there and Tom Cruise's acting doesn't feel so plastic/fake.

A nice detail is that they also have Val Kilmer in, although his role is brief. He even had a haircut for it, haha. A brave man to have gone back to acting after what happened to him!

So in short, a great movie to watch!

Alice = 2022
About Alice and a number of other black people that still lives as slaves in 1973 in the sticks in Georgia.
Alice gets raped every Sunday by her owner. They get punished, used and abused. All in 1973.
At some point she escapes which is an eye-opener as she's never seen cars, tv, telephone etc. And then finds out black people have been freed for a long time, and she wants revenge.

Dedicated to all African Americans who remained enslaved during the 20th century (shocking, I had no idea!!!) and to those who remain oppressed worldwide.

Definitely worth the watch!

I was watching that a while back, but cannot recall if I gave up on it or if there weren't any more episodes to watch at the time.
So I'm going to watch it again :)

The Princess - 2022
As Tom said above, it wasn't what I expected. It was really good! It deserves way more credit than the mere 5,6 IMDB rating.
I'd be inclined to give it a solid 10 as it didn't dip anywhere, fighting scenes were very well done and an absolutely joy to watch. A couple really surprising moves, very well implemented.
I do guess that this movie is not for people who aren't into martial arts.
Setting was good, great cast. I liked the li'l princess a lot too by the way.

In short, very much worth the watch!

Beast - 2022 - Idris Elba

About a lion with a serious attitude problem.
Reminds a bit of The Ghost and the Darkness, yet a very different movie.
I liked it a lot!

I quite like it although the first season I felt it was really slow and quite boring. I skipped through a number of episodes to see if something was actually going to happen instead of the non-stop yada yada. And it did. It got interesting and good.
Worth the watch, so far.

The Old Man - 2022 - 7,7 IMDB rating - series
With Jeff Bridges, and btw the title does not refer to him.

It is off to a slow start, so much so that I almost switched it off. But bear with it, it gets good although it doesn't become fast-paced but very much worth the watch.
Renewed for a 2nd season.

Dan Chase absconded from the CIA and lives off the grid. When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past.

I recently watch the movie called "Knock Knock". That's a weird one.

The Forgotten Battle
Very good impression of this very important battle that few know about, even over here in my country. It took place some 40 kms from where I live.
I only found out about what happened here, what the Germans did in this province, about 16 yrs ago. Partly because my elderly then neighbour told me part of it, that the Germans had flooded the island -and most of the rest of the province- and she and her family had to evacuate. She was only a li'l girlie then.

A very good impression, good movie, makes me feel grateful for all those people who sacrificed their lives or were willing to do so, Canadians, Scots, English, to rid us of the Germans.

Deeply moved by the movie. I will visit the monument for this battle soon.

And unbelievable to think that 78 yrs ago this coming night the allied forces had to cross 750m of water and mud at night. Not a joy ever, certainly not in November. Listening to the storm wind howling outdoors, knowing the water is freezing cold, the thought of having to do that... incredible!

Over 3000 allied forces lost their lives during this battle and over 2000 civilians.
Bless their souls.

SAS Rogue Heroes - 2022 - 8 IMDB rating
Definitely worth that 8, so far I'd rate it a 9 or 10.

Series on how the SAS came to life.
It's based on real facts, almost everything is factual however unbelievable it seems.

What I do like is that it shows the British in Egypt during WW2, on the losing end, but the music they chose to accompany certain scenes is often hard rock. Excellent choices and unbelievably well timed.
There are some older songs too when the scene calls for it, but also (a lot of) AC/DC, Black Sabbath, The Cure, Motörhead etc. etc.
So you're watching this somewhat old-fashioned stuffy British army goings-on while rocking to AC/DC etc.

Cast is great, storyline so far too. But it's BBC so you can expect to get quality.

My rating is a solid 10.
What a great movie this is! Not one moment of dipping and dragging.
I can't believe this only has a 6,7 rating.

The story is based on history & facts btw. Seriously amazing to see these women fight.
