On DVD I watched “A beautiful day in the neighborhood” and to me it was a moving movie. I haven’t been moved by a movie in a long time.

I tried "The Heat" with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. But after some 20 minutes I couldn't beat it anymore. I don't like that so called 'humour' that this McCarthy comes up with, it isn't at all funny. It only makes me feel like punching her lights out. Meaning it's not particularly relaxing.
I believe I've tried another movie with her years ago and felt the same way. |

I've been watching more series than films lately (Killjoys, comedy etc). My latest is "What we do in the Shadows". It's an extension of the film of the same name. Although the characters are a little different: a former Turkish warlord and a married couple, Nandor and Nadia, it has many of the same themes as the film, werewolf feud, house meetings to discuss not leaving victims half-alive, the ancient vampire Master and incompetent familiars etc but also a lot of new stuff and it is very funny. Admittedly, I had to import it from America and play it on a multi-region DVD player but it's well worth a watch.

The Legend of Tarzan. And yup, I liked it :) Did you know there was a TV show in 2003 called Tarzan? Tarzan is an American adventure-drama television series that premiered on The WB on October 5, 2003, and ended on November 23, 2003. Based on the Tarzan series by Edgar Rice Burroughs and developed by Eric Kripke, Mike Werb and Michael Colleary, the show was set in New York City and depicted modern-day adaptations of Burroughs' characters. In December 2003, the series was canceled after eight episodes. Thinking of Tarzan, I have all the old Tarzan movies starring Johnny Weissmuller. Twelve films rivals many of the movie series now being released.
I think it would be cool to see those Tarzan films redone using Jason Mamoa as Tarzan. Based on her work in the Jumanji films, Karen Gillan would make a great Jane. List of Tarzan Films http://www.imdb.com/list/ls058415951/ Like today's film series, they could also do a bunch of one-off films supporting the film series. I'd probably start the film series off with Tarzan and the Huntress. It would allow prequel/backstory films but lure in audiences with animal plight and action/adventure. Leopard Woman (Elizabeth Olsen) could be a reoccurring nemesis. The Amazon Queen (Connie Nielsen) could be another reoccurring character. Andy Serkis could play Kerchak, the king of the Tribe of Kerchak, the Mangani apes who raised him. Any ideas on who could play "Boy" or "Cheetah"? Personally, I think it would be an interesting film series to revitalize. |

The Walk. Movie about the Frenchman who walked on a highwire between the Twin Towers.
I skipped a lot of the beginning as big parts of that were in French without subs. It was a good movie, very interesting. Totally unbelievable that they had a helicopter hoovering over him and police on either building being total a-holes with their behaviour. Understandable they want him off the rope, but what they're doing doesn't seem the way to go bout it, hihi. He could've lost his focus and dropped down over 1300ft. With the amount of people at the bottom, not really what you'd want. |
