depends on if prostitution means strictly paying for sex or not...
escorts are paid friends... When I looked up the definition in the Oxford dictionary it stated to engage in sexual activity.. Now that is very subjective in itself.. If you are paying for a friendship and it has physical contact does that constitute sexual contact if let's say there is kissing, touching etc.. Oh Yeah I know there is different prices for different things. I guess where I was going with my earlier posts. To many times I have seen where one person is paying all the bills, food, entertainment etc.. Does that make the one that is staying home a form of prostitute?? |

When you look at it that way, prostitution is not a victimless crime.

Although some radical feminists do consider it to be empowering to women (many disagree). Perhaps this is not the point. Could it be that the reason for these perceptions are not really about the job itself, but just the simple fact that a prostitute earns MONEY at all (at one time it was the only paid job for a woman)? It seems possible that since todays working women, although not selling sex, are expected to work for cash (pimped out), and so there is something vulgar in this expectation itself (explained). Thoughts? My thoughts? Why are you sitting around your house thinking about prostitution |

I agree but if we go by the true definition said person would be considered a prostitute correct. i guess it depends on who answers that... me, there's different levels... if i outright pay for sex, prostitute if i have to buy her dinner or get her drunk and do a lot of talking to get sex, whore if shes fun to be around and gives it up freely without a lot of money changing anyones hand, fun.... |

whew I am outtie on this one
can't wait to see response on a wife being nothing but a prostitute bought on the long term installment plan plus interest accumulated bi-annually where things like roof over head, food in cupboards and gas in car will be provided as long as she performs x, y and z on a semi-regular basis now ain't love grand

This is sort of a spin off of another topic where some people mentioned that women are now expected to bring home a paycheck. I was sort of thinking about that in terms of other cultures and times where women who brought home a paycheck would be considered vulgar as a prostitute and her man not taking care of her like a pimp. Just a thought.
In many cultures today the man would be ashamed of himself for not providing the basics for his family, but not in others. Also the woman would be ashamed of herself, and not in others. My thoughts on the matter are caught in between. Ideally, I think, a man would provide the basics of everything a woman needs financially. And the woman would choose if she wanted the kind of job that paid money. Women already work but are not paid I decided that in the last thread. I don't particularly like forcing women not to work or to work. Of course if she remains single she may need to work, being single however means not much housework/childcare so it is not too difficult. |

Doesn't feminism encourage being independent including financial? I am independent. Wanting and needing a man are different. I want a partner. If the man is earning a paycheck then yes a woman earns by keeping the house and kids bit that is a partnership because the paycheck is both of theirs Why is that hard to grasp |
