Occasional misspellings don't faze me.... unless they accompany ignorance. If you are spouting bullshite and expecting to be taken seriously while spelling incorrectly then I am most decidedly turned off. You can't act as if you are learned and expect people to give your written opinions any weight if you can't spell or are too lazy to take advantage of spellchecker.

There simply does not exist a better speller than myself. Having said that, I hold no one to those impossible standards. If they manage to communicate the thought, I am good with it. .

So I got a message from a guy who seemed nice...I guess...I don't know since I could not understand a word of his message. I asked him if he was from the US and he said yes. He was talking a lot of gibberish...really bad misspellings and words that made no sense. Anyway, just wondering if I am the only one that this is a turn off for. I like someone who can spell wear :) I think that same guy was hitting on me too.. I thought he was dreamy..

If an email is so poorly written it implies a vauge understanding of the language, I suspect scammer. Especially if it starts with hello dear...
However, an inability to spell is not a measure of intelligence. Judging them to be ignorant, may be though. (I sure hope my commas are in the right place...and haven't made a propostion...jk  )

At times you can not go off, of the way they write.. I have known many within my life time that speaking to them they were smart.. But when it came to writing at times you had to figure out what the words were.. Still would not make a difference if I talked to them or not. Does not always make them a scammer... Nor does it mean they are not intelligent.
