According to the Internet, it was President Abraham Lincoln who said, “The problem with Internet quotes is that you can’t always depend on their accuracy.” The sentence is often used to point out how unreliable some information can be when it comes to websites. If you found yourself questioning whether Lincoln’s ‘quote’ was ever true, it may be time to visit new sites. If you’re looking for the most useful and persuasive information, try to find information that is objective, which Merriam Webster defines as “based on facts rather than feelings or opinions.” ...... In order to get the best, most well-rounded view of an issue, people should read from multiple websites and news sources. While news outlets should strive to remain objective and keep their opinions out of reporting, that is not always the case. While these websites listed by the Times is a good start, consider reading from as many different viewpoints as possible. Conservative, liberal, independent, feminist, patriarchal, religious, secular — the more opinions and facts you are exposed to, the more you can strengthen your own criticisms and opinions. |

If Abe said that about the internet I would have to guess he wasn't talking about the internet as we know it today. Since way back then there were no computers, phone lines or anything else to make the internet we know today. lol

It's true isn't it? His internet was a guy riding on a horse hoping not to get shot. media is changing,,,nearly onstantly bt now there are many more 'sources' that aren't held to any type of standard of veracity or accuntability |

well my point is that initial post is messed up. there were no computers when Abe was alive so there was no internet and he couldn't have talked about it unless he was talking about something else. I just wonder if that quote is accurate or did they replace a word to make it more relevant to today's youth? If they did that then that's just wrong. At least it is in my opinion.

It's like repeating what LOUIS WANTS. He made it plain. He wants, for us, I'm officially black-African here, s separate state. Free to rule ourselves and total freedom from the US jurisdiction. Some say that's not what he wants. Even his newspaper states similar. |

Total BS!!! First, "the" Abraham Lincoln never said that. But it has been used to illustrate a point that Abraham Lincoln did make: "Abraham Lincoln cared neither for lies, as the moniker "Honest Abe" suggests, nor free speech. During his presidency, Abe had opposition newspapers suppressed by his administration, at points going as far as jailing editors without due process of law -- all because they were critical of him during wartime." |

the 'quote' attributed to Lincoln is false because he would not have spoken about the 'internet' that had yet to be invented
it is prudent to check our sources and recheck information before posting it none of that is BS |

I'm not a history buff. But I know enough to know that computers weren't invented till the 1900's and Abe was alive in the 1800's. Cars weren't even made yet. Booth had to make his escape on a horse. How can someone think that Abe could have possibly said anything about the internet. It would make more sense if he was quoted saying that about gossip, books or news papers. hahaha |
