Shy girls, not a big deal. Actually most of them are married with kids, and living the American dream. I'm attracted to shy girls.
Shy guys on the other hand, that has to be the worst combination ever. Women want to feel protected and want the confident man. Shy guy doesn't cut it. Women, what do you think about shy guys? Would you ever date one? Why or why not? |

It's hard to get to know someone who doesn't open up and talk very much..For a relationship to be successful I think both partners have to be willing to reveal "who they are."...No one should have to guess what the other person wants or needs...I think it's good to be a little modest and humble. (Versus arrogant and conceited.) But there has to be a certain level of confidence and self-esteem (and a willingness to talk) for a relationship to be mutually satisfying. This is how I feel anyway.

Yeah, I don't like shy guys but not because I want to feel protected; I just find it hard to communicate with them.

I prefer a shy guy to a point but if he doesn't have enough courage to get up to bat then it is pretty frusterateing.

A shy person who can communicate on a person to person base is fine. A shy person who can't communicate at all on any base is NOT Contrary to popular belief....I think most women don't actually like being the only one talking ..go figure

The last time I went out with a shy guy, I asked him to let me know what he wanted to do for the second date. For the first date, he refused to choose. We picked a date and he was supposed to let me know before hand. The day after we were supposed to go out, I asked him what happened. He was too shy and indecisive to actually do so and just assumed I'd pick again. So, we never went out again.

When one fear outweighs another fear, progress can be made.
When your fear of being alone is greater than your fear of approaching someone, methinks you will overcome it. You can always give yourself a worst-case-scenario pep talk.. 'What is the worst thing that can happen?' 'She could say No.' 'Is that worse than not knowing if she will say no or not?' Actually, I greatly sympathize with men, having to be the instigator, glad I am not one :-) |

Some shy guys just needed to be poked and you'd be surprised when he open up..sure,i'll date a shy guy,but when i'm doing the lead most of the time, i'd probably won't stick around that much..

Women, what do you think about shy guys? Would you ever date one? Why or why not? I don't think I've ever dated a shy guy.. not sure I could either although I can be unassuming at times.. underlying it, is a very boisterous character.. I have a genuine and healthy(in my opinion) outlook on life.. but I love adventure (even lil ones) and being with a shy guy would probably just end up suffocating me, or at the very least, constrain a part of me that I love.. I do 'silly' things at times and that would no doubt wreck havoc on the relationship.. unless of course, through my example, he opened up enough to let his 'lil boy' out to play along... however I'd probably be better suited with someone sharing similar characteristics.. |

Shyness is learned. It's a sort of wall people put up as self defense. It can also be passive/aggressive or manipulative.
I used to be very shy. I'd never started a conversation with a stranger until only about 6 years ago. I couldn't even call a doctor's office to make an appointment. I still didn't have any trouble finding dates, because women would often approach me and start conversations. I'm told my shyness would come off as aloofness, that I didn't "look shy." But, it was a real problem if I needed to look for work. So, I took a class to get over my shyness. Me and two other men were taken out to nightclubs in downtown Austin by another man and were taught how to talk to strangers and give a good first impression by actually talking to strangers. We were told to think of it as a video game. If something went wrong, just forget it and hit restart. It was a rough weekend, but I haven't had a problem with shyness again. It was pretty expensive though. |

I wouldn't and couldn't do it. You're right, a man is supposed to protect you, etc. You can't do that when you're afraid to speak to other people or go out in public. No bueno.
