What does it take to look your best?
This question came to my mind recently when I attended my 30-year high school class reunion. I wore a suit, while an old high school buddy of mine wore a good pair of jeans and an open-collar long-sleeve shirt. I was jealous of my old buddy. As I look at women . . . [Of course I do. I'm single and straight. ] . . . I notice what things make them outwardly attractive and what things don't. Here are some of my observations. Plenty of young women (under the age of 40) ruin their looks by wearing too much make-up. Plenty of young women don't need to wear make-up in order to look good. Their faces look fine in their natural condition. Asian women need to understand that their best look is their natural look. Sure, it's just my subjective opinion, but Asian women, in general, are blessed with eternal cuteness. When they get older, some of them go from being cute to being glamorous, and they don't need make-up in order to do so. Asian women even make the wearing of glasses a thing of beauty. Latinas, in general, have style, no matter what their nationality is. They tend to know how to dress well, and they tend to know how to take care of their bodies. That is the secret to them being caliente. [Personal note: My late wife was a Latina immigrant.] Woman who are racially Negro are blessed with wonder-hair. They can style their hair in all sorts of beautiful ways, as my daughter Radiance keeps proving. They also seem to outwardly improve with age as long as they don't become overweight. They even make being tall look glamorous. Their dark complexions act as a natural make-up, as my daughter Radiance keeps proving. In the USA, when it comes to outward beauty, women of African descent are grossly underrated. [Personal Note: I could be biased here because my daughter Radiance is an African-American.] Red-haired women with freckles should embrace their freckles, because freckles help a woman to keep a youthful appearance. As for non-Latina white women without red hair . . . well, nobody is perfect , and there is always make-up. In all cases, what a woman can do to look her best is to smile. My late wife constantly proved that, and my daughter Radiance keeps proving that. Personal Note: In case you don't know what my daughter Radiance looks like, here is a photo of her and me taken last year on the day that I legally adopted her. Can you tell that I am proud of her? |

She's beautiful.you on the other hand look very human in that pic. Lol.
I think guys in suits depending on the occasion can look hot or overdressed, depending on the occasion. I like getting dressed up and going out, on the other hand, my boyfriend is very relaxed and would rather see me in sweats hanging out at home, more than all dolled up. He doesn't mind that either, but he prefers my natural state of grace. I dont need to wear a dress to go dancing, tight jeans or a cute dress would make him equally as happy. |

I don't bother to look good for anyone but myself. I guess the best way for me is to keep my hair neat; my clothes pressed, and keep clean. I wear make up as I don't have a pretty face so I need help in that department. I wear clothes that flatter my figure rather than what is in style. I think I feel my best is when I am in uniform.

Radiance is gorgeous! I think males or females look best when they are confident, happy and comfortable. Absolutely - a smile says it all. But you can take a person with many unattractive features and if they are confident - you'll always look again.

Dodo_David, I agree with you that white, American women either don't know how or are too lazy to dress well most of the time. Lots of over size sweatshirts and mom jeans.
Personally, I like to look my best as often as I can. While I'm working that usually means a good fitting T shirt, jeans or chinos and black driving mocs. When I go out, I like an oxford shirt, good fitting jeans or chinos, black loafers and, now that fall is in the air, a blazer (black velvet, tweed. brown corduroy, navy, I have several). Sometimes a cashmere sweater. I love dressing well and looking good. |

Sometimes I will meet a friend for coffee with sweat shirts and sweat pants; other times I might have on a nice dress. I will only dress to impress a potential employer or dress appropriately for work. If I am hanging with a friend; jeans and t-shirts are fine. Wearing uniforms and business casual gets old so I look forward to dressing down. I used to dress up for dates but as I don't date; jeans are just fine. |

I got lumped into your Dispos-All generalizaton, but I'll answer the question anyway. For me to look my best I need:
1. A perm, preferably fresh, since I can't style my own hair to save my life. 2. Contacts, which aren't going to happen any more, sadly. 3. Makeup, which again I have no talent for, but clearly I need it. 4. Alcohol for both me and any observers. 5. Somewhat subdued lighting. 6. I have also found that a dog helps. People sometimes extend their liking of the dog to me. Ideally I would need a wig and a major facelift plus nose job, but those aren't going to happen either. Even a wig is unbelievably expensive. |

What it takes to look your best....is to actually care to groom.
The synopsis of good looking women is Utopian...but far from accurate. Some people are just f 'n ugly. Every breed has lazy apathetic slobs. Male and female...to pretend that a chick is beautiful just because she is white, black, Asian...don't fly with me. Even the pretty ones can be complete b!*itches. Personally....I like to be well dressed. I like making all the other dudes look like crap. If a little extra attention to detail means I can compete with the guys in jeans and t -shirt...GREAT! A woman who thinks she is beautiful just because she exists is badly mistaken ...you ain't doing them any flavors by saying.....Asians are this and blacks are that...they ain't. |

When I worked in the medical field, always had to wear white uniforms.. Getting dressed in something as casual as a pair of nice white shorts and a nice T felt dressed up to me...lol |

To address your initial statement, it only takes 3 things:
1) A smile 2) A good imagination 3) Acceptance of yourself In other words, outward beauty is only skin-deep and in time, no matter who you are, physical beauty eventually wears off. So, keep on smiling, imagine you are beautiful, and accept yourself for who/how you are. |

So, keep on smiling, imagine you are beautiful, and accept yourself for who/how you are. No matter how old you are, you can still put some effort into your appearance. I may not be young and beautiful anymore, but I can still be dignified. I can still maintain my weight. I can still get a quality haircut. I can still shine my shoes. |
